There's no denying I got fit but as to getting the best out you.. well 😂 I did my full IOT training in the late 80's. I met many great educators but sadly the ones I remember most were the few limitators. As a kindly, elderly (well he seemed that way to me at 22!) Flight Commander said " quite often they got it wrong and and the best got away". Learnt loads, met a few real assholes that would get up a wrong off other's backs. Very mixed memories, gained many insights but the nightmares continued for a good 15 yrs.
I went through in '85, and it was a quite a rough experience for an 18 year old. I recognise a lot of what you say there. Wouldn't have missed it for the world, but I got re-coursed at the end of the course, sent home for 2 weeks then brought back to do it all again, to allow me to 'make more impact' ! Crude and quite emotionally brutal really in those days, but it's just the way it was in the Cold War. Good character-building stuff in many ways I suppose, as i have done quite well since.
In the days when the RAF was big and located all over the world the officer training at Cranwell as a flight cadet was 3 yes 3 bloody long years !!! You have it easy today !!
