    Flip the bed up and reach in there on the passenger side and twist the filter off by hand or a pipe wrench. Add 3 and 1/2 quarts start engine up let it get up over 200deg wait 10 min then check oil without screwing the dipstick in. If everything was drained good it will be right at the very top of the hash marks. I have done this multiple times always perfect with 3.5 quarts

    I don't pull the panel off for th oil filter at all. Just access it straight from the back. You can look through the top and reach around the back of that panel, in front of rear tire. Use a slip-joint oil wrench or a strap type.

    I filled my engine oil through the hole on top of the engine near the spark plugs I didn't even see the oil reservoir off to the side I hope it's alright that I did this I added just as much oil as what came out. Just over 2 quarts.

    Thanks guys just bought this unit yesterday my dealer said first 20 hr service would be a 280 dollar charge and suggested to let them do it for warranty purposes, but you only get a 6 month warranty anyway so I may save the 100 dollar an hour labor charge and do it myself so thanks this was very helpful.

    What do you guys think of the heater system. I have one, and it sucks. Yamaha said the heater wasn't designed for cold weather. (in Canada) WTF?

    Great video. Changing the oil on mine next week, first service. Don't have the manual with me. From the video I saw I'd need 3 qts of the ATV 75/90 and 4 qts of engine oil. What grade? Thanks

      @@OffroadTrolls I know this is very old and the machine is gone . But the filter is very easy . Reach in front of the rear tire and you can easily reach it with a regular wrench no need to take that panel off . Just did mine today .

    Question: So there are two drain plugs for the engine oil - 1 for the tank and 1 for the oil pan underneath? Also, it looked like the diffs and trans take the same gear oil? You explained the procedure much better than the manual does.

    • @OffroadTrolls
      @OffroadTrolls  4 роки тому +1

      Actually there are 3 drain plugs one in the oil tank and 2 right next to each other underneath, yes the trans and diffs took the same fluid

    Just bought a 2020 Wolverine X2. Trying to get the right side rear panel off. Yamaha saw fit to give me an extra bolt, only it's from the back side behind the seat. Any suggestion as to how I can get this off without cutting it? The panel won't come off with that "backward" bolt/ screw there.
    Also, what is the filter number for the oil filter? That's the whole reason I was taking the panel off to begin with.

    • @Wayne1952
      @Wayne1952 3 роки тому

      You can reach behind the seat and get it, It's tight , I just did mine today, The whole thing was easy until I got to the oil filter,,,One guy on here says you can get to the oil filter from the bottom , I'll try that next time.....

    • @punknhead23
      @punknhead23 4 місяці тому

      I know this is an old comment, but for anyone else, you don't need to take that panel off at all. You can access the filter by reaching around the back side of that panel. I use a slip joint oil wrench or a strap type would work, also. What ever you do DON'T take that screw behind the seat off. Pain in the butt and no need. I have a bright piece of yellow tape with NO written on it just to remind myself.

    Is that oil ok for the wet clutch, I've heard of people using mobile 1 and taking out the wet clutch

    • @MassiveOverkill
      @MassiveOverkill 4 роки тому +1

      That's probably because they used the automotive formula of Mobil 1, which is Energy/Resource Conserving. Mobil 1 0W40 EU Formula doesn't have those additives. I have 11K miles on my wet clutch using Mobil 1 EU/European Car formula.

    Yamalube is a great high quality oil
    The factory race teams use it.
    I recommend MPT motorcycle oil. It has no petroleum base stocks. Its made with ester and PAO base stock. Id like to use amsoil but they wont say if their oil is petroleum or synthetic. Btw, oils in the USA can say they are synthetic but its only highly refined petroleum oil. Only ester and PAO are true synthetic oil
    I run MPT in my R1 and shifting is butter smooth. I run the same oil all summer and do some track days. I send in a oil sample to Blackstone labs for analysis and it comes back saying the oil TBN shows it can be used for 4 times more than i use it. Thats a whole year and track riding for an entire day with rpms at redline for 20 mins at a time
