I think they could be made practical if someone could get landing gear in the feet working. That would let them scale vertical walls without using rare resources for thrusters. Could also walk around the hull of ships and stations.
I've never seen anyone else in Space Engineers pull off a walker that moves so smoothly. The other walkers I have seen have suffered badly from akward movement and SE's physics engine.
There's a lot of thinking and planning that goes into making functional walkers in SE. It really is something that has to be practiced a lot before you end up with good looking movement. I think few are willing to put in the kind of effort necessary to fine tune them into something that looks realistic.
congratulations you are the first person to publicly unveil a fully functional bipedal combat walker THAT ACTUALLY WORKS! you deserve a fuckin medal for your contributions to combat science
Most Excellent walker on the workshop yet, but I am sure you already know ;) I am just here to show my endorsements! Well Crafted and Beautifull original design for SE! All credit to you!
BRILLIANT !!! You managed something so many did not ! I am really impresed by this, but from technical prespective is there a way to separate the top part from the legs ? I dont know if you know mechwarrior but something simular to that, or something like warhound titan ( the small scout one) from WH40K I saw lemon russ tank on your channel so you shoud know.
Yes. The upper body is mounted on a rotor. My original intention was to have it be able to move freely as the legs walked, but I think I put my gyros in the wrong spot and messed that up. I had to lock the rotor at 0 degrees otherwise funny things happened. Perhaps I will see if I can fix that
once again, someone told me to use you as a guide on how to create walkers, would you consider doing a brief but detailed tutorial video on how you make your fantastic machines?
What in the actual fuck WHY CAN'T I MAKE INTERESTING SHIT Also I've seen some of your other videos (namely the stone-cargo bomber) and goddamn now you're really earned another sub.
THIS! I want this so hard... its ridicuous how hard... sordid mutterings aside - have you tried making the top part on a rotor/gimbal system to stabilise the cockpit? so you can ride inside without motion sickness? like a stabilised body to attatch guns to which helps accuracy?
dynamic? yes! but with a script to keep the upper body all sexy like, you'll get a much more steady and organic looking 'animation' -and I'm all for sexy robots
when I use pistons and rotors in basically the same configuration you have there, they gain random torque and spin wildly until they explode. it happens every time that grids are connected in a circle how did you get around this? or is your mech just large enough to dampen this? also, I came up with the design independently, but that's not surprising considering this is basically how human legs work except in reverse.
A Gatling turret on top would be a rather good addition. The slow speed of the thing, and lack of coverage with it's weapons, makes it a rather easy target. Having one would increase the lethality and defensive capability by a large factor.
Ya know, I've never thought about that. Always just used the numbers at the top of the keyboard. It probably because the right hand is on the mouse and the numbers on the top of the keyboard are closer to the left hand. Reaching over to the number pad seems like a stretch.
Can you make one with three legs? i've been trying for ages and failing... also because Space engineers does not like to tab out, i can't see what i'm typing so ignore spelling errors.
someone on steam linked me to THIS very video when i asked how to build this guy orig00.deviantart.net/5c6d/f/2011/158/a/1/martian_fighting_machine_done_by_nikedorchain-d3iaqcd.jpg
Something that tall is going to need piston support, so that is probably why this walker was referred to. So structurally the legs would be similar yes
Yes, turning is accomplished using a pair of overridden gyros, one for left turns and one for right. This seemed like the most practical option since the walker is already somewhat complicated.
Stop trying to fool me. A piston connected to two rotors on each end that is connecting two leg parts which are also connected via rotors? And it's not exploding? Or flying off into the sky? This couldn't possibly be space engineers. No way
Saw the thumbnail and thought "probably just a random picture to grab views" I was wrong and happily admit that. This shit is cray.
Its a damn shame walkers are so incredibly impractical, because theyre so goddamn cool.
Nice seeing you here bby
Just like real life
If they are big enough they cam be intimidating for enemies
I think they could be made practical if someone could get landing gear in the feet working. That would let them scale vertical walls without using rare resources for thrusters. Could also walk around the hull of ships and stations.
Amazing, it's unbelivable somone has managed to pull it off. I'm really impressed.
quest0 Any land vehicle is SE is a crazy challenge, thanks to its questionable physics. THIS, however is miracle work.
There needs to be an effect that makes dirt smoke when a large mechanic steps or rolls. It would make it look not so fake.
When space engineers works how it's supposed to :O
So cool. Best part is that the pistons are functional and aesthetic.
I agree with that one for sure
Did you use a programming block for this?
holy hell, this thing actually has a realistic gait when it walks. dude, this things a masterpiece
Thanks scott, I took time to make sure it moved like a realistic machine. Glad you noticed
I've never seen anyone else in Space Engineers pull off a walker that moves so smoothly. The other walkers I have seen have suffered badly from akward movement and SE's physics engine.

imagine this made in halflife 2 engine
*gun randomly flies away on a whim*
This moves a lot faster than I expected
congratulations you are the first person to publicly unveil a fully functional bipedal combat walker THAT ACTUALLY WORKS!
you deserve a fuckin medal for your contributions to combat science
Haha thanks, I think there's a few more walkers around the workshop but as far as bipeds this is the largest I've seen.
Probably the best walker I’ve seen in Space Engineers!
finally, my dreams of a truly immersive MechAssault game are that much closer to being realized.
reminds me of an At-AP. this is... the best walker I have seen. needs more gun but damn.
more gun
I love walkers, in any media.
Dude this is unbelievable, absolutely amazing, you deserve a new sub !
Most Excellent walker on the workshop yet, but I am sure you already know ;) I am just here to show my endorsements! Well Crafted and Beautifull original design for SE! All credit to you!
I... Its... Its so BEAUTIFUL!!!! It moves so SMOOTH!!! HOW? thats all I gotta say is fricken HOW??? You earned a new sub from this... Awesome!
This is amazing. Just the stabilization with pistons. You must have used a script to accomplish this... just... amazing.
1 script was used to make timers trigger faster than 1 second, that's all.
BlackArmor when CONQUERING the world I'ma use your walker designs their cool and just amazing
Wow! That the physics of space engineers even allow that. :D
Now make an AT-AT!
CarrowMind
Yeass
Need them so much
this is fucking mesmerising. i have been trying to make a mech and i kow how difficult it is. really well done.
This reminds me so much of a Warhound Titan. Its go the cabin, the hull, and the speed of one.
BRILLIANT !!!
You managed something so many did not !
I am really impresed by this, but from technical prespective is there a way to separate the top part from the legs ? A weapon to surpass METAL GEAR!
Awesome work creating an AT-ST. Now all we need is a larger AT-AT. :)
This is amazing I wish I had space engineers to use this
It is the most unique game I've ever played
Almost sounds like a really sick beat.
this is awesome!! the walking looks pretty good :)
You just gain a suscriber. I'll see what else you've done man, that's great.
Awesome man!
You should make a tandem cockpit version which has a gunner controlling arm mounted weapons.
The delicious pneumatics is beautiful.
Amazing, just amazing.
Oh. My. God. I want one of these in real life.
If multiplayer physics get fixed, Id probably crap myself if I saw one of these walking towards me.
Imagine if it could run
Pyrrhus Canicus Aurelius Imagine if it backflipped towards people.
It would either be hilarious or terrifying.
Pyrrhus Canicus Aurelius Probably both.
Strides have been made in walker making in SE on this day!
Seeing the legs from the bottom looks exactly like AT-ST :3
And then Space Engineers was BattleTech.
Still: great work.
Awesome build! Can you make two man walker with a mounted gun platform? that way one can be the movement and the other can control the weapons!
how the hell you do this? I cant make a car without the wheels explode
It's working in stable branch right now, but I fear once the next update comes all these walkers are going to start blowing up as well.
Awesome work!
Damn it I want to build mechs like this now
OMG they added bi-ped legs finally? time to start playing again!
Yeah totally, got them right off the G menu...
Extraordinary work. Are you studying engineering?
Haha indeed! Aerospace, which has a lot of overlap with mechanical.
That's how US military and DARPA met
This reminds me a bit off a Warhound Scout titan from Warhammer 40k
Its a rebels worst nightmare...... A chicken walker on steroids (an at-at is an at-te on steroids)
Heya - I haven't worked with rotors much. How did you make the piston extend then retract automatically?
I have 3 timers to control each side. You adjust the time delays to reverse them at the appropriate moment.
once again, someone told me to use you as a guide on how to create walkers, would you consider doing a brief but detailed tutorial video on how you make your fantastic machines?
Consider it yes, but no guarantees. Perhaps once I no longer have enough time to keep up with this game then I will share my methods.
Hello my plasteal clad friend it's me Air_Bro, and as always I love your work
What in the actual fuck
WHY CAN'T I MAKE INTERESTING SHIT
Also I've seen some of your other videos (namely the stone-cargo bomber) and goddamn now you're really earned another sub.
Welcome aboard
THIS! I want this so hard... its ridicuous how hard... sordid mutterings aside - have you tried making the top part on a rotor/gimbal system to stabilise the cockpit? so you can ride inside without motion sickness? like a stabilised body to attatch guns to which helps accuracy?
Ah, not complex enough for ya? No I didn't think about that, I actually kind of like how dynamic the cockpit view feels.
dynamic? yes! but with a script to keep the upper body all sexy like, you'll get a much more steady and organic looking 'animation' -and I'm all for sexy robots
when I use pistons and rotors in basically the same configuration you have there, they gain random torque and spin wildly until they explode.

how did you get around this? or is your mech just large enough to dampen this?
also, I came up with the design independently, but that's not surprising considering this is basically how human legs work except in reverse.
How about a turret on top and underneath for a gunner to use?
There is no room underneath for a turret, I will experiment with one on top and see if it looks nice.
BlackArmor Thanks for replying first of all and I will be looking forward😉
A Gatling turret on top would be a rather good addition. The slow speed of the thing, and lack of coverage with it's weapons, makes it a rather easy target. Having one would increase the lethality and defensive capability by a large factor.
I did experiment with a gatling turret on top and........its ugly :P. Sorry dudes
lol That's fine. I wouldn't want this thing of beauty to look wrong!
I'M IN LOVE
Gorgeous
thats really cool
Looks great, but why not use the numpad numbering for movement?
Ya know, I've never thought about that. Always just used the numbers at the top of the keyboard. It probably because the right hand is on the mouse and the numbers on the top of the keyboard are closer to the left hand. Reaching over to the number pad seems like a stretch.
Is there a way to stop the swaying?
You don't like realism?
this would be so cool in warthunder!
That is cool!
What kind of AT walker is that!?
Impressive!
How is this not succumbing to clang?
How do you make those leg pistons work like that? I made one that works when its held in place but when released it starts flipping around.
If its flipping around then you are extending the pistons further than they should physically be allowed to go, which causes phantom forces
BlackArmor The piston wasnt even extending. As soon as I connected the rotor, it started spinning.
Can you post a video?
Can you make a 3 legged War of the Worlds style tripod walker? A lot taller?
Taller means heavier, means things break. I've thought about a tripod walker and might experiment with it at some point.
not only it isn't faster then a wheeled vehicule, it probably doesn't even climbs montains better.
You have completely missed the point.
How could Clang accept such a creation?
COOOOLLLL MAN
now do it in multiplayer with two of them fighting, and let the chaos ensue
Does it work with breakable blocks on?
Absolutely.
ua-cam.com/video/m8yeE8z0et8/v-deo.html
If only we could recreate the Battle of Hoth
Pretty sure that has been done already
Love it
I saw the thumbnail and for a sec I thought this mech is doing the "Naruto ninja run".
wooooow so cool ! :O
It would be even more cool if the toes worked but no piston/pistons would be that small or hinges.
mhm
Have it thrusters?
Its got 2 small thrusters pointed backwards to help it go up hills. They do nothing to help the walking or support weight
did you make this?
Yes I built this
Can you make one with three legs? i've been trying for ages and failing... also because Space engineers does not like to tab out, i can't see what i'm typing so ignore spelling errors.
Yeah I've been thinking about making a tripod. I'll probably try it soon.
someone on steam linked me to THIS very video when i asked how to build this guy orig00.deviantart.net/5c6d/f/2011/158/a/1/martian_fighting_machine_done_by_nikedorchain-d3iaqcd.jpg
Something that tall is going to need piston support, so that is probably why this walker was referred to. So structurally the legs would be similar yes
What witchcraft is this?!?!
Does it turn?
Yes, turning is accomplished using a pair of overridden gyros, one for left turns and one for right. This seemed like the most practical option since the walker is already somewhat complicated.
i hope we dont meet in mp survival :D Im dead if we do :D
Haha, I would not be using this ridiculous thing.
a weapon to surpass metal gear
Stop trying to fool me. A piston connected to two rotors on each end that is connecting two leg parts which are also connected via rotors? And it's not exploding? Or flying off into the sky? This couldn't possibly be space engineers. No way
sorcery!
we could make a titan from command and conquer taiberiean sun
You stole my name...ILL SUE YOU
ok
PLEASE PUT DOWN YOUR WEAPON, YOU HAVE TWENTY SECONDS TO COMPLY
