Il centro storico di Paola ed il suo famoso Santuario I Calabria

- Ciao Girovag* oggi ammiriamo Paola, che è in provincia di Cosenza, nella Calabria occidentale e questo è il più grande borgo del tirreno cosentino.
Ammiriamo l'Arco di San Francesco e la sua piccola Piazza del Popolo con la Fontana dei Pisciarieddi del 1600 e con la Chiesa della Madonna di Montevergine.
Proseguendo tra i suoi vicoli scorgiamo sui muri le tradizioni e le foto storiche di questo paese, la chiesa del Rosario e la Fontana dei 7 Canali.
Infine andiamo nella parte più alta di Paola, dove sorge dal 2000 il Santuario di San Francesco di Paola, meta di molti pellegrini da tutta Italia, e dove il Santo si era ritirato fecendo costruire nel XVI secolo l'antica Basilica.

Wow, what a fascinating tour by Paola! I enjoyed learning about the history of the city, especially how it was fortified after it was invaded by the Turks in the late 16th century (by the way, the fortress whose gates you saw in my clip was built AFTER the invasion of the Turks, too).
The baroque fountain and church were amazing and it was interesting to hear about the city's festivals and their significance.
