The instrumental sounds like a sad 90s movie scene
1981, Guy Bonnet & Roland Romanelli - Amour, émoi et vous
ua-cam.com/video/akeUbwvOf_E/v-deo.html
The song owns totally an 90's vibe. That's why it's so good and it gets some sadness in it.
Oh you're actually right. Being a 90's kid myself this song does bring that old school feel to it. Makes me kinda miss the old days of when I used to be a kid.
Just discovering this lady.. Has a very oldschool vibe , love her.
Jason Tooman well I mean this song has a sort of 90s beat to it ya know but it’s mixed with a modern beats
Can we talk about the fact that the COLORS version of this has more views than the official video?
It happens on a lot of colors videos, big up for them for giving exposure to new artists! (I found her because of colors).
Yep, the COLORS version have the better vibe and the sound is smoother. My view.
COLORS version has no sound editing and it does her voice so much JUSTICE!
I like how different she is, it’s refreshing
she's not that different. I mean, i really like her, her voice and her music, but there are plenty of young female singers and rappers that were in this type of gig way before she was, or still are. I could name plenty of amazing artists that you would find just as "different". She's just mainstreaming her way through, which is, of course, great for her.
OEN NAO I feel you, that’s what I was talking about, different in the mainstream but there are definitely a lot of more underground artists with a similar style. I should have elaborated more but I like keeping things simple lol. List some artists that you enjoy of whatever genre, I always like finding new artists/music.
No problem, I get what you mean though.
Off the top of my head, i'd recommend you Kelela, NAO, Sabrina Claudio, Ravyn Lenae, Little Simz, Mahalia, Raveena, FKA Twigs, Joyce Wrice, DUVV, Tink, ELIZA, Bonzai, The Internet, Charlotte Dos Santos, Jordan Rakei, Iman Omari, Native Dancer, Thundercat and Ta-Ra.
OEN NAO Bet, Ive heard of some of them but I’ll be sure to check out the ones that I haven’t listened to yet.
jorja smith: a
me: talented, brillant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not even been done before.
RIP Guy Bonnet (1945-2024) who composed in 1981 this unforgettable melody which was 37 years later sampled for this song.
No la conocía. Vengo porque una nominada de OT España la ha elegido para esta semana. Y me parece una elección sublime, ¡es una canción preciosa!
Did anybody else notice that when she says "gun crime into your right ear " it only played on the right earphone and when she says " drugs and violence into your left " it only played in the left ear?
I thought that was pretty cool and satisfying 😌❤️
Try listening to the Verves classic album 'Urban Hymns' for some awesome production.
Even today, this song makes me feel a way I can't describe. It's a masterpiece
the way jorja smith portray her message is so beautiful the way the beat hits and the lyrics. its such a great message for the world.
this song is gonna be sampled a ton in the future
update : wow 2 years later i had no idea so many ppl liked this lol. subscribe if youre here :)
this song is already a sample: Guy Bonnet & Roland Romanelli - Amour, émoi et vous...
Listen to the remix made by French rapper dosseh, such an amazing song
I’m not black, but I see you.
I’m not black, but I hear you.
I’m not black, but I mourn with you.
@@branimirvalentic3035 I can't accuse him of nothing.
I was angry.
3:57 what they did with this police siren is insane. This song is flawless.
I just love how although everything in the song points towards the colour blue, that they chose black and white which shows the blues and severity even more
This song must have been in the soundtrack of the Netflix series "When they see us"
William Acosta Ostios but Blue Lights signifies British police, not American ones, so it wouldn’t have worked
Larosa doesn’t matter, theory is still the same, racial profiling works the same way here just as it does in America.
That’s crazy cuz I’m currently watching that whilst listening to this song
It was actually on a show called Vampires on Netflix it originally in french
Jorja Smith dun went off 2 da big leagues on dis when they dun found out about a u t h e n t I c v i e w s
This song makes me so sad. What a timeless video. Thank you, Jorja
The first music video still my favorite so far. Also, blue lights is my favorite song ever. Never stop making your music, you deserve the world.
GABELUJAH what happened to the first one? I knew I wasn’t trippin I was lookin like I could’ve swore o saw something else
yeah... i think jorja deleted, i didnt found on her youtube channel anymore... im so devastated, was my favorite and better to understand and to feel the lyrics. also i should have downloaded the first music video :((((
GABELUJAH I sweaaarrr it was so beautiful and well put together like ugh 😞😞😞😞😞😞😞😞
This is a huge issue in London, it’s scary seeing my friends who have done nothing wrong and only 14 get talked to by police just cause they fit a very vague description of a person whose done a stabbing or a drug deal.
Don't live in London but I can only question why that trauma even started?
And mostly people who resemble those hang in the same crowds or with same kind of people, been there done that, i used to think it was wrong, now i just think it is logical , they will soon know they got the wrong person and let you go if you dont make a scene.
Los que venimos por Violeta 💜
So glad she's re-releasing this as a single. Big time tune
i’ve personally always thought this song narrated a story of it’s own, no preface needed. for so long, this is exactly how i pictured the story told by the song. simply put, humanity, and the struggles and reality of it. one of my all time favorites.
Quien aquí por Vio 💜
[Intro]
I wanna turn those blue lights into strobe lights
Not blue flashing lights, maybe fairy lights
Those blue lights into strobe lights
Maybe even fairy lights, not blue flashing lights
[Verse 1]
Don't you run when you hear the sirens coming
When you hear the sirens coming
You better not run 'cause the sirens not coming for you
What have you done?
You went to school that day
Was a bit late but it wasn't Monday
Kept after class for answering back
You apologized, ain't no harm in that
[Chorus]
What have you done
There's no need to run
If you've done nothing wrong
Blue lights should just pass you by
Verse 2]
Gun crime into your right ear
Drugs and violence into your left
Default white headphones flooding the auditory
Subconscious waves you accept
You're sitting on the 4 back home
"Where you at, G? Answer your phone!"
Pause the poison to answer his message
Your boy sounds rushed, fears for his adolescence
[Chorus]
What have you done
There's no need to run
If you've done nothing wrong
Blue lights should just pass you by
[Verse 3]
Tall black shadow as you're getting off the bus
Shadow shows no emotion so what's even the fuss?
But the face of your boy casts a darker picture
Of the red handed act, he's gonna whisper;
"Look blud I'm sorry 'cause I know you got my back
He was running, I couldn't think, I had to get out of that"
Not long ago you were miming to the "Shook Ones"
Now this really is part two 'cause you're the shook one
Hands you the tool as you question your friendship
How's man like you gonna make me a convict?
Level of a felon when I've done nothing wrong
Blood on my hands but I don't know where it's from, oh
You got blood on your hands but you don't know where it's from
[ Bridge]
You better run when you hear the sirens coming
When you hear the sirens coming
Better run when you hear the sirens coming
'Cause they will be coming for you
Run when you hear the sirens coming
Better run when you hear the sirens coming
When you hear the sirens coming
The blue lights are coming for you
[Chorus]
What have you done
There's no need to run
If you've done nothing wrong
Blue lights should just pass you by
[Outro: Jorja Smith & Dizzee Rascal]
"Blud, when you hear the sirens coming"
Don't you run when you hear the sirens coming
"Blud, when you hear the sirens coming"
Don't you run when you hear the sirens coming
What have you d-d-d-done done
Don't you run
Don't you run
Don't you run when you hear the sirens coming
You know this will still be a hit in 20 years when u feel the nostalgia as soon as the song starts
This is possibly one of the most emotionally beautiful visuals I've ever seen and the black-and-white really shows how relatably true to life the just as beautifully emotional lyrics are to so many families and people in general! Whether it be what they're currently going through or will go through at some point in life and this is still by far not only Jorja's best record to date, but possibly even one of the best I ever heard!!
Police lights in the U.K are only blue
@@sofiarune3124 knife crime is beyond a joke here though. Literal kids dying in broad daylight.
This song is so old but I’m so happy it’s getting the attention it deserves
Nathan Medina 2016 not OLD but it’s not new it’s revisited which is dope
Tiana Nicole. J I knew I wasn’t trippin!! I remember hearing this a year and some change ago!
@@KristNi 2016 not THAT old but it’s gonna be almost 10yrs soon which is CRAZY
her voice takes me very different mood, every single time.
The instrumentals vibe so well with her voice and has an emotional essence to it.jorja is creative big up jorja!
This song is dope. It’s got that 90s vibe. It stands out from the usual songs that you hear today. It’s a classic, yet it’s new. This song sends a powerful message. Someday, we will turn those blue lights into strobe lights, so we won’t have to run when we see them.
YES YES YES CAN'T WAIT FOR HER ALBUM OMG
This song was made 2 years ago and it’s still *relevant* to today 😔
Vivi💜
Jorja is gold, makes me recapture the message from when I first heard this, London is hurting. Show compassion to your neigbour.
Quien la está escuchando por Violeta??
I can’t breathe!
✊🏻✊🏼✊✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿
Then go to the doctor. don't comment it here.😒 all lives matter not just black.
@@maphack7923 then why are just black lives being treated like shit?
the imagery of the little boys eating their lunch in front of the magistrate's office...wow.
That Dizzee Rascal sample at the end!!
Another ingenious Sample is the instrumentation throughout which is sampled from a song about love. Turning a romantic song into this type of song is really clever.
I'm so mad I'm just hearing this in 2020.
Man y’all late as hell but i’m glad you guys didn’t take longer to find this
Well this was unexpected but greatly appreciated.
The meaning of this song is so relevant to the past ,present and future, the message is so timeless. Your work will soon be noticed and appreciated by the world
💖💖💖💖
This song hits you in the feels differently.
I love how this was filmed in my mates flat and local area Walsall (where Jorja's from) mad seeing Mike Skinner doin the dishes in my mates yard I've sat in countless times 😂
It Mek www.walsallcarpets.co.uk/ I’ll be able sort you 50% off to supply and lay carpet as long one off our two work vans are in the next video👍🏻
‘Not long ago you were mining to the ‘Shook Ones’ now this really is pt.2 cause your the shook one’ 💗
one of the most underrated songs ive heard
This is one of her most underrated songs whyyy
glad she filmed it in walsall.. 🇬🇧
Both my parents are from Walsall. I’m Cornish myself but they always told me that Walsall was a horrible place. I don’t believe it
^agreed. It's rough, but when you grow up around it, it's not that bad. Prob seems worse to outsiders tho
One of her best songs, sensational
This song will always give me the craziest goosebumps. Such a simple yet effective video to go with it 🙏🏼
Old school R&B vibes are back 😍
I actually thought the song was a 90s track definitely has that sound
The type of song to listen when it’s night and raining with neon street lights.😏
Love how she's made this video in her hometown walsall 😎
I randomly found this song while searching for blue lights online and man don't I regret any second of it! This song was so well put together and her vocals are so therapeutic.
Swagger brought me here 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾🙌🏾
I think shes one of the few artists where I know I'm going to love the song even before I hear it
Her voice is soo soothing, angelic & just beautiful 😍
i remember hearing this song when it first came out. i was around 11 or 12 and i fell in love with the melody because i didn't yet understand the lyrics. now im 15, i hear the message and it makes the song better. thank you jorja :)
I REMEMBER THERE WAS A MUSIC VIDEO FOR THIS SONG THAT DROPPED TWO YEARS AGO.. THIS SONG IS STILL😍
"blurt, when you hear the sirens coming" that's a wicked sample!
It's a sample of Dizzee Rascal's track 'Sirens' to which this is something of a homage. Also, he says 'Blud' not 'Blurt'. 'Blud' is what grime artists and estate kids often call each other in the UK, because of the heavy Caribbean and African influence on the language spoken in those environments.
I really love how they used the sample and turned the song into some trip-hop-like thing in the last seconds. Absolutely perfect
JULAIT
Much respect little miss, I struggle finding new songs to listen to, I'm a picky person with what music I feed my brain but I praise you this piece is fucking beautiful.
Keep moving.
Her debut album gonna do numbers.
So many Brummie legends in this video. Mike Skinner, Benjamin Zephaniah, Jaykae to name just a few. Sick.
Such a great message. Always coming back to this masterpiece
"I wanna turn those blue lights into strobe lights
Not blue flashing lights, maybe fairy lights
Those blue lights into strobe lights
Maybe even fairy lights, not blue flashing lights"
I wish i wrote that, it's a wonderful intro.
Just came across Jorja Smith! SHE'S AMAZING very underated
the lyrics, the video, her voice. All in this song is perfect.
I remember hearing this on a radio debut and knew straight away she would blow. Such a good track 👌
One of the best beats I’ve ever heard. Them keys are magical.
Great use of locations in Walsall, especially apt user of the defunct Police station (no "Blue Lights" there anymore). Also credit for featuring fellow Midlanders Mike Skinner, Benjamin Zephaniah, etc.
I loved the first Blue Lights video lots, but this is incredibly beautiful and touching.
Well done, very well done indeed.
Wayne Fox the Young Boys in the park on the swings is Barley field park in Caldmore, at least they come back to where the story of the song was to have to taken place!
I love the scene of the boys sitting on the court steps. It’s amazing you drive past these areas every day but see them in a complete different light when they’re shown to the world
I'm from Walsall and I love how a so honest and gifted singer comes from my hometown and I love how she's come back to her roots, love you Jorja and so does Walsall ❤️❤️❤️
this is one of the videoclips that matches perfectly with the song. so sensitive, so precise, such a wonderful work. LY Jorja
Just yesterday I've discovered this young lady. MAD talented and gifted she is. This song is easily my favorite from the entire album btw.
Also love the nod to Mobb Deep, and Dizzee Rascal. The Guy Bonnet sample is brilliant.
Notification squad cause we love Jorja ❤️
One of my favorite songs of the last few years. It has me feeling a certain way. ❤️
This song seems more relevant than ever 🤔😶
One of the best songs ever written and sang! Jorja has an incredible voice!
When I listen to this song it gives me a feeling of nostalgia and sadness at the same time. But I really love, I love the instrumental
This song holds so much. Such heavy lyrics, the video, the damn piano tune that sounds so timeless and iconic. It sounds like a song that could’ve dropped somewhere in the 00’s but it’s not and I’m just so THANKFUL FOR GREAT NEW MUSIC AGAIN
"You got blood on your hands but you don't know where its from" - this line is so good
This was shown at school by the boys in the class and it made me realise that there is alot of crime in Walsall specially my part as there's been 3 murders in a week. Just makes me think i was born and still being raised there is crazy. Other than that I love the meaning to the song. Walsall is a rough area I'll admit but it's home.
Recognise so many of the places in this video. Refreshing to see something so close to home getting so much recognition
I love the lyrics and the beat, I love it, so beautiful
only need to hear once to make me Fall in Love with the rhyme and harmony of this song.
thank you Jorja
Don't know how you've done it but you've taken over the country... congrats man this song is awesome
This is one of the most beautiful songs ive heard in my life
that is true
É tão bonita. Eu estou chorando agora ouvindo...
