      Accurate asset allocation is crucial, and some individuals use hedging strategies or allocate part of their portfOlio to defensive assets for market downturns. Expert guidance is vital for achieving this. This approach has helped me stay finan-cially secure for over five years, yielding nearly $1 million in returns on invest-ments.

    The rising interest rate can surely control inflation, but won't prevent erosion of the eroding purchasing power of the US dollar. I have learnt my lesson this time. The banks can't be making money off my money, while inflation eats into it. I have set aside 650k to invest in the stock market now, since that keeps up with inflation, but I don't know how to get started.

      Keeping money in the bank is like paying banks and the Govemment. Here's how it works: The bank gives out your money as loan, and charge interest obviously higher than inflation rate, and then give you, the depositor, interest lower than inflation rate. That means net loss for you. That is why I prefer to invest, and on average, my advisor makes returns that always beats inflation!

    Inflation is far more harmful to individuals than a collapsing stock or property market because it directly affects people's cost of living, which they immediately feel. It is not surprising that the current market sentiment is extremely pessimistic. In today's economy, assistance is critical if we are to survive.

      If you lack market knowledge, your best bet is to seek advice or support from a consultant or investing coach. I recommend diversifying your investments by considering stocks alongside real estate. During a recession, there are potential buying opportunities in the stock market if approached cautiously. Additionally, market volatility can offer short-term buying and selling opportunities. However, please note that this is not financial advice. It's important to be proactive in investing as cash may not be the most advantageous option during these times.

    The system is failing as a result of both government and federal policy. In the next days, the banking crisis would have to be epic and gigantic for the FED to decide not to raise interest rates. This won't happen; an increase and a crash are coming. There will be more negative portfolios this 2nd half of 2023 with markets tumbling, soaring inflation, and banks going out of business. The key for us was not spending beyond our means. If you invest and have other sources of income outside of dividends then you will be able to live off dividends. The FED lowered its inflation objective to less than 2% in 2012. They changed the target to a long-term average of 2% inflation. Because long-term interest rates are set at inflation plus a profit margin, the implication is lower interest rates. I consider the current rising interest rate to be a very serious issue it will cause more investors to withdraw from the market. But then despite the severe bear market, I am aware of certain investors that continue to earn over $365,000. Wish I could accomplish that.

    The way I see it this recession most likely has an external cause. The United States is losing influence as a federal currency for the first time in decades. They all lend credence to the hypothesis that a new multilateral world order may be in the works.

      Instead of liquidating your portfolio, you should try to understand personal finances and investing, because these will most likely lead to greater financial independence. By being knowledgeable about money and investing, individuals can make informed decisions about how to save, spend, and invest their money. The 2008-09 crash saw markets fall, wiping out trillions of dollars around the world, but savvy investors recognized a once-in-a-lifetime buying power, with companies' stocks on the market at deep discounts. With markets recovering from the Great Recession, these investors realized tremendous gains from their assertive maneuvers. I'm no savvy-investor, but the one method I've relied on to gain rapidly during times like this is having an asset-coach guide me. Given the high inflation, the use of coupons is more widespread than ever and many people rely on them not only for the purchase of food but also
    for clothing and much more. The transition to the 8112 digital coupon format is imminent. Qples by Fobi is the only platform able to provide
    physical/digital coupons anywhere in the world redeemable in real time! This is very valuable for the big CPG brands as they allow them to improve
    their Roi but above all customer loyalty, which has proven to change brands if the situation is advantageous.
    McDonalds, burger King and many other brands could use Qples by fobi coupons to increase customer loyalty, Roi and improve their margins.
    Given the high inflation that has led to the reduction in consumer purchasing power, CPGs are looking for new ways to attract customers.
    I think the arrival of digital coupons and the transition to 8112 has been accelerated by all of this.
    The decline in margins and profits that we are witnessing of many tech companies, once considered leaders,
    confirm the shift of the consumer in search of better opportunities and bargains offered by coupons.

    Economist, you missed the point.
    Banks borrow money from the Central bank (who prints money and lends it to the nation's banks) for which they have to pay interest. When Central banks lower interest rates, banks get money for cheap and their customers get cheap loans. This leads to more spending in the economy creating asset bubbles and higher inflation.
    Now, Central bank steps in and increases interest rates, making borrowing more expensive for the banks as they have to pay a higher interest rate. This increased cost of borrowing is passed on to the customers in the form of higher interest rates on their loans and mortgages.
    This would, in theory, squeeze consumers' spending power and bring down prices in the economy as demand dampens. Basically, central banks are slowing the economy by raising interest rates...they don't want you to go out and eat 7 days a week, but 2 days. Rest of the days, eat at home :) Why? The economy needs to be cooled.

    • @amaris27
      @amaris27 Рік тому +2

      That might apply to individuals but individuals do not constantly take out loans to eat. The main "consumer" for bank loans are businesses themselves. Most businesses are constantly using loans to expand and grow or pad out their yearly numbers. Now, new money will be more expensive for them to borrow. They will still need to borrow each year but now at a higher interest rate. In order to maintain their yearly projections, they will have to pass the new cost of borrowing money onto consumers in the form of price increases which is another form of inflation. That or they will no longer be able to rely on cheap no interest loan money and will have to increase their revenues in the form of price increases or laying people off which leads to inflation.

    • @johndonnelly1376
      @johndonnelly1376 Рік тому +1

      @@amaris27 Agreed, but businesses consist of individuals - proprietors, employees, shareholders. If their margins get cut due to higher repayments, they will cut back on their life style, and even their planned investments which would have provided jobs. These jobs would have resulted in more spending and consumption.
      Also, they will have to increase prices on their goods and services to offset the higher repayments, which will again cut consumption, like a self fulfilling prophecy. In the end things will cool down and prices will drop as there will be less demand.

    This method of interest rate control only controls demand pull inflation, which is the most common type of inflation as it is caused by an excess of aggregate demand. If the inflation is caused by supply it is called cost push inflation, whilst the interest rate control will work on this type of inflation it will not be as effective as supply side polices like subsidies and privatization.

    • @xlynx9
      @xlynx9 Рік тому +23

      Right. Because whether it's demand-pull or supply-push, inflation is always demand exceeding supply. The difference is hiking interest rates can definitely slow the economy down to levels that match baseline supply, but it can't -- or shouldn't -- slow the economy down enough to match a supply shortage, because most demand is what is required to keep civilization as we know it functioning. Recessions are painful because for the economy to shrink, that means we're lowering our standards, taking less care of ourselves and investing less in our future. For the environmentally minded, this also means slowing the rate of decarbonisation.

    • @mastermax2792
      @mastermax2792 Рік тому +3

      @@xlynx9 Yeah that's why the government must be extremely careful with their policies, as because most economies are mixed any government actions has a large effect on the economy of the country. This is heightened even more in the case of the US as because it is one of the largest economies the economies of the world depend on its stability, that's why a protracted period of economic slow down in the US will negatively effect the world economy.

      Agree. Raising interest rates does nothing to rectify container ships stuck in the Suez Canal, lockdowns in China restricting manufacture, wars preventing the export of grain, fertilizer and raw materials, fossil fuel companies failing to increase production back to pre-pandemic levels etc... Seems to me that the Central Banks are turning dials that are not connected up. This video does not provide an explanation that makes sense, nor does the narrative that the central banks are trying really hard to get inflation under control. And, at a time when the world needs to invest in transitioning to sustainable energy, raising interest rates seems to make even less sense.

    • @eurotop40
      @eurotop40 Рік тому +3

      My impression is that this inflation (and deflation in the past years) is tightly connected to energy costs and probably the play with interest rates is meaningless. Economy is not an exact science in spite of the self-praising of economists who in the end do not pay for their mistakes that happen quite often. In the end, I do not feel sorry when economists lose their jobs because in general they are the ones who immediately lay off other people.

    • @mastermax2792
      @mastermax2792 Рік тому +2

      @@eurotop40 Interesting view points but economists aren't the ones laying off people, they simply try and predict the market and the future. Which is an extremely difficult task, considering the large amount of variables that needs to be considered. This is why most economists will not be 100% accurate with their predictions, like all jobs economists can fail. Whilst yes their mistakes may lead to the loss of jobs of some, their predictions can also at times lead to massive economic growth and a surge in the economy which will help everyone. Economists also collect and analyze data of standards of living for the IMF and the world bank, by doing this economists essentially allows poor countries to have access to loans that could help improve everyone in said country. So in conclusion whilst yes the bad an economists can bring upon a country is great their contributions to society far outweighs that, economists are also now extremely careful before making any predictions so because they know their predictions can affect thousands or even millions of lives.

    Even if a non dollar-denominated asset sees no real gains during inflation that's still much better than holding cash and seeing your real purchasing power undermined. In other words, sometimes you have to chose between the lesser of two evils.

    This video is very informative and explains how higher interest rates can cause inflation in some scenarios. The main argument is that higher interest rates increase the demand for money, which leads to more money creation by the banks and the central bank. This in turn increases the money supply and the price level, resulting in inflation. The video also discusses how this process can be amplified by the feedback loop between inflation expectations and actual inflation.
    I think this is a plausible theory, but I wonder how it applies to the current situation in the US, where interest rates are near zero and inflation is rising. Is it possible that higher interest rates would actually reduce inflation by discouraging excessive borrowing and spending, and by increasing the real return on savings? How would this affect the debt burden of the government and the private sector? These are some of the questions that I would like to see addressed in future videos. Thank you for sharing your insights and analysis. 👍

    The problem is that prices that went up in restaurants, even if the inflation goes down, they will keep them high. And many other items will keep the new high prices.

      nah value of currency permanently decreases with inflation , unless there is deflation I guess , its better to think in terms of profit margins I guess which for restaurants and many other commodities is slim.
      Real issue might be decrease in purchasing power which is not keeping up with Real Rate of Inflation (include all the things 90% of population purchases like housing and other stuff).

    It doesn't talk about government spending and money printing which are the bigger issues of today problem. The demand problem is also magnified by the supply chain issues in US. You can not ask people to buy less daily supplies like toilet paper by increasing interest rates.

    Banks raise interest rates when inflation is too high. Rise in interest rate from central bank means that commercial bank will earn more on their reserves.
    When interest rate rises, it will slow down investment and spending, that will lead to less economic activity and therefore businesses will be reluctant to raise prices and that will pull back inflation.
    A slight inflation is okay, as it keeps the economy moving but inflation staying high for too long is problematic.
    High prices means employees will need high wages and that will increase cost for businesses and push up price further and it will lead to an upward spiral of wages and prices.
    Raising interest rates and slowing down the economy is worth it to get low and steady inflation.
