- TimeFire's death in the Super Sentai series, Mirai Sentai Timeranger, the counterpart to Time Force. Naoto Takizawa is the counterpart of Eric Myers, the Quantum Ranger (TimeFire's a cooler name).

The one thing that gave Naoto's death more impact than either Burai or Mikodo was that unlike those two Naoto was a true anti-hero. He wasn't evil nor did evil things for the sake of revenge or driven by a evil life force, those characters died as a sort of a old school penance to their wrong doings as villains and it's a common thing to expect in a childrens series that wrong doers of any kind can't go unpunished.
What makes Naoto different was that he wasn't inherently neither good nor evil. He was a real person who had real problems, and wanting power or a position of power and the means he'll take to get it contradicted Tatsuya's ideals but followed with Tatsuya's own desire to control his own fate. Naoto's death was a result of being another cog in someone else's grand scheme, but he ultimately he still choose how to live his life. Reminds me a lot of Gai in that sense, even in death he remained more free than anyone else.
well said. I couldn't say it better myself. Naoto is one of my favorite sentai characters ever in the series. it's sad that he's killed. timeranger is definitely one of the great series to remember

There are at least two exceptions to this rule. Shirogane/Gao Silver and Micchan/Zyuoh The World. They were also driven by some evil force, however neither of them died, unlike the previously mentioned three. You can also count Eiji Takaoka /Bouken Silver, but the guy's "evilness" was only the result of his demonic heritage.

If anyone is watching this for the first time without having watched Timeranger and is confused, the captain in the beginning foresaw a future where he became TimeFire and died in the past so the entire series he manipulates events so that Naoto becomes TimeFire and dies in his stead. Pretty fucked up that Naoto was a pawn of the future
And yet he died in the end just like Naoto did, so all his schemes were for nothing lol
But RIP Naoto
So who was the overarching villain? Gien or the captain? Who sets the series events in motion?

The ending of Timeranger is very, very disturbing.
There's no epic battle: It's just two men wrestling for control of a gun. Then the gun goes off.
The most climatic moments can be the ones with the least amount of effects.

Funnily enough, Eric was initially supposed to die - the wounds he received shielding Wes and his father from that Cyclobot’s blast would’ve been fatal. However, the writers weren’t sure if the network would allow it, so they shot two versions of the final scene where Wes says his goodbyes to the others before they head back to the future: one version with Eric present and one version without.
Naturally, Fox said “no.” And thus, Eric lived.
Ryūya Asami is the most evil Sentai Ranger ever.

As far as sentai deaths go Naoto is seemingly more grounded and tragic, as his fate was ultimately twisted by a man who wanted to change his own destiny.
funny thing is that Naoto's actor specifically asked for his character to get killed off. The directors wanted to keep him alive at the end but he felt that Naoto could never truly get along with Asami

Tatsuya is a good guy. He cares about the others, unlike his descendant, Ryūya.
This was the best super sentai death scene. I loved how they went back and forth between that captain (who was setting up Naoto's death so he wouldn't die himself) and Naoto rescuing the bird. That fall from the roof had to have been painful. And Tatsuya really showed emotion in reacting to his death.

Hilarious though, that the captain still died in the end.
Man Captain Ryuuga was an evil bastard. Well not really but to willingly let Naoto become TimeFire instead of himself to save his own life? Understandable but still a crummy thing to do. Poetic justice at its finest when he dies anyway.
Timeranger and Jetman are one of the most saddest Super Sentai as the Final Episodes always leaves people in tears.

Abarekiller and Dragonranger however were large antagonists in their respective series and their foretold deaths adds up to a sense of pennance.

I know right. I mean I almost shed a tear on burai's death, could you believe they were gonna have Eric myers/quantum ranger to die the same way? But changed that, and let Eric live. But still this is the second saddest moment in super sentai history, next to burai's death. Why do the badass sentais have to be killed off? First Black condor, then Dragonranger, then Timefire, and then Abarekiller, who's next?
You're right..I've found out during research about Eric. The writers of PR decided to keep him alive because they didn't like how it'll end for TimeFire in the Sentai. Otherwise, they would've killed off Tommy literally as well. The Sentai series contain darker elements than PR for children to know the truths, for they mature faster..or something to that effect idk. However..I've also researched on the Sentai wiki and found out that the rangers who've died, came back for one Sentai series. I think it was Dairanger or the series before that one.
It wasn't dairanger, but I think I know what you're talking about, Abarekiller did return to life in Dekaranger vs Abaranger, and all the dead sentais were able to return to fight alongside their comrades in the super sentai war, in Gokaiger jetman tribute was the ghost of gai yuuki/Black condor, funny that the 5 of the Gokaiger could see him but Gai ikari/Gokai silver was the only one who couldn't see him, even those he was right there!
Oops..that's what I meant. gokaiger!....silly me. sorry. I got mixed up, mistaken the series that spawned one of the seasons of MMPR for the current one today. Yep, the super sentai war, was the one I was talking about. I gotta see the episodes

I don't know Super Sentai (I know Power Ranger). But this clip is very sad. Tatsuya's scream is very tearing.

@ampelogardenboy You're welcome. Timeranger had the saddest ending I've seen so far. I haven't watched Power Rangers for years, but the way the four left Tatsuya had so much emotion in it. Not only did Timeranger have a sad ending, but the special credits they have just for the finale was very sad too.

@NickStoneX I wouldn't go as far as to say that. All Sentai series but Denjiman and Sun Vulcan are each separate universes. Gokaiger is like Kindgom of Hearts of the franchise.
sentai rule #1: most 6th members must die
If you count Abare Killer as 6th Ranger (who is actually 5th) only three of them died permanently and were never completely resurrected - Dragon Ranger, Time Fire and Abare Killer. The other 6th Rangers who died in the series came back to life and they're still alive.
They need to spice things up. Have a standard team member die for once. The last time we had that happen was with Gai.

Ryuya might be the most selfish character in this entire franchise. He was willing to mess up the timeline and sacrifice millions, if not billions of innocent lives just to save himself. Naoto was sadly just another pawn in his game.

Nice pun, but considering that it seemed like Naoto's foretold death appeared to be bull, just for him to die unexpectedly (as opposed to Burai's death being foreseen), Naoto's death seems more gut-wrenching to me.

@anti4kids2000 Not really. The Sentai series in its entirety is all one universe. Certainly there are different dimensions but its all in the same timeline. Naoto never comes back to life permanently he does revive to fight Zangyack and to give Gai the Gokai Silver powers but he goes right back to being dead. I don't understand why fans keep saying there are different universes or the movies aren't canon. It's not like the Sentai travel through time/space they just walk next door.
If this case file was never changed and info computer database! Naoto/time fire could still be alive! If notice captain ryuyu input into computer timefire dies which as soon does that one of evil robot appear and shoots him like it wasn’t even there!
I do have to ask, did the bird at least survive so that Naoto's last act wasn't in vain?

@ICEGOD2 Ryuya made sure that Time Fire would die in his place, but he still ended up dying from what I remember. The Power Rangers doesn't exactly pass dying, with the small exception of Eric yet he came back to life.

+Camilo Machado When he saved Tatsuya and the girl he didn't die, but got severe injuries. He died being shot by a Zenitto while he was trying to catch one of the girl's birds because that SOB Ryuuya altered the history to make Naoto die in his place.

En la historia original el power ranger timefire (en la versión americana es el power ranger quantium) es asesinado y pues el capitan Ryuy (Que es Alex en la versión americana) fue el que describió los acontecimientos que iban a suceder en el 3 de febrero del 2001 incluyendo su muerte

Brayan Duran Ariza Ryuuya vio 2 futuros 6 años antes del 3001. Uno donde el V-Rex y el NeoCrisis de Gien destruyen 1/3 del siglo 21 y otro donde Gien muere a manos del G-Zord y destruye todo el siglo 31, y en ambos, Ryuya, que era el original TimeFire, iba a morir si o si sin importar el desenlace, asi que queria evitar su muerte a toda costa, haciendo q el V-Rex viajara al siglo 21, Takizawa se volviera TimeFire y muriera en lugar de el, tb fue el el q libero a Don Dolnheiro, Gien y las bestias para q fueran al presente y el q hizo q Gien se volviera gradualmente loco. Tb esperaba q los rangers murieran en su 1era batalla. El era como el jefe de los malos disfrazado de bueno solo xq queria salvar su vida a costa de cargarse gran parte de un siglo por que ese era el mejor futuro para el.
