I am a 78 year old "Vintage Prospector and Library Explorer" --- learning from local historians for years now - since 2015 have volunteered with DM Parks and Recreation Dept and Cemeteries (BEST SPENT PUBLIC MONEY in DM..!) ..... I just learned in the last half-hour about this young man's fantastic work shown here. I just met him and will be working with him and several others on a new book regarding the curious, odd, unusual, special people buried at Woodland Cemetery in DM ----

I feel so sorry for James. To be born into such an exceptional family only to be a normal person, unable to meet the high expectations placed upon him by everyone, including himself. It’s no wonder he turned to alcohol. Thank you for restoring Sophia’s stone and telling the story of her and James.
Some great thoughts and insights. I was thinking along similar lines, I wondered though, was it the disease of alcoholism that kept him from achievement or did he drink as you say, due to some perceived failure within himself?
I wish you could do a go fund me to add a plaque with all the research you did to find our who this was.
God gave you a wonderful purpose in life and I applaud you for not only your work doing this needed work but sharing it with us.

I was told one of my great-grand-uncles was son & brother to men who "rose to greatness" in their respective fields.
But he was also the FAVORITE, most caring & gentle uncle to his niece--who was always heartbroken on his behalf for the way he was looked down upon by his more illustrious relatives: men who had apparently put their careers ahead of their families.
But decades later, as far as his niece is concerned, he definitely HAD "risen to greatness" as the best uncle ever.
Your dedication to restoring these headstones is very very inspiring. Thank you for the work you do.

I think it’s awesome that you repair so much of history, just by cleaning and fixing the headstones. I’m sure it means a lot to the families that find out what you’ve done.
I’m just curious, if you were 100% positive you had the correct carving that’s on a headstone, is there a way to make it readable again??

Maine. Granite. Weathering is longer term, but still a problem. Lichen is the biggest problem in our family plot.

I’m wondering what is the best epoxy you’re using. Is it the Domo10? I am working on marble and a few granite stones. One I’m currently working on I’m needing an epoxy I can stick in the middle and also use it to help rebuild some pieces

Where did you learn the techniques that you use in these restorations?
May I ask where and how you learned to do all this repair and such, I have thought of doing what you do as like a side huddle on weekends and how much do you charge for labor and if not then do you need a license or anything to do this
Two questions if you have a minute, first are you using lead or pennys or something to set your setting compound thickness?, and second question, what cleaner are you using in your pump sprayer.. you did a great job with what you had, that domo works great on stone,

So what happens when that pin rusts and explodes the stone over the next 80 years? Wont that stone be completely destroyed now?

What do you use to clean the stone? My grandma had 2 babies pass away after a few days of life. We just laid my grandma to rest and I noticed the babies stone has some mold or something growing on it. Recommendations pls

Poor Sophia. I know what it’s like to live with an alcoholic. She was probably glad when he was dead. I hope her and her children were taken care of by his brothers after. May she rest in peace

Hi I live in up state ny and I was wondering what is the best stuff to use the reason I ask is because I have a small cemetery near where I live that has alot of stone that are old and broken would love to repair and clean them
