I was so sad to see all my "Annie's Annuals" plant tags, next to my plants, once I learned it was closing. I was heartbroken. Then a hair client of mine came in and shared a Facebook Post about what was happening with Annie's and the new owner/name, etc. I am now excited to sign up for their newsletter and take photos of my Annie plants once they grow. I have about 80! Congratulations! and GREAT INTERVIEW Janey!!! Every hair client of mine now knows Curious Flora (aka Annies) lives on!
After your little tease yesterday, I started doing alot of research and found out about Curious Flora Nursery. I was thrilled because I have been buying Annie’s flowers for over 15 years. Then I saw they weren’t going to have mail order and then I was sad for all of us gardeners that don’t live close by. I am a little confused about how Peaceful Valley Farm & Supply fits in. I noticed they acquired the Annie’s website & will be shipping for Spring 2025. This is the very best news. I am so happy the team is reunited and the beautiful nursery will continue. I do support my local nursery, however, no one compares to Annie’s, now Curious Flora. It’s always fun when people ask what kind of flower is that and where can I get it. 🌻
I’m so happy that your nursery will still be there. I know how amazing it is to go to my local nurseries. And would be devastated if they weren’t around anymore. To Curious Flora Nursery, I am sending good vibes and know you will flourish, congratulations.
I’m so glad this amazing nursery ( as I’ve heard) is not going away. I have not had the opportunity to visit this place & now I still have the chance! Thank you!
I treasure the many wonderful plants I have purchased over the years from Annie's. Just today I moved my two beloved fuchsias to my sunroom for the winter. I have a salvia Mole Poblano that has to be 10' tall and is blooming its heart out - in mid-November, zone 9a. I'm so happy to know that the spirit of Annie's is living on in its new incarnation.
I'm glad to hear they are still going to be a nursery, especially for everyone who works there. Sad they won't do mail order. I used to order from them and delivered to Texas. I still have a few that have survived and are growing well and happy.
Excellent - thanks to Janey for the update video and Colleen and mom for keeping this incredible nursery alive. I live about 40 minutes from it and look forward to visiting in the Spring!
I live in Richmond and I was going to go to Annie’s and was checking the closing times when I saw it was permanently closed. It was the actual day it closed and I was so sad and bewildered by the sudden news… I will be visiting curious flora this weekend 😊
I knew something was up when they were having 20 percent off sales every weekend and I was getting at least two email messages a week about this. Glad to see a younger person running the place now. I wish them all the best.
Sounds like there is an entrepreneurial opportunity for someone to start a personal shopper/door dash service at Curious Flora for folks who don't live in the Bay Area.
Just signed up for their mailing list. So much relief that these wonderful folks will continue this fabulous nursery. Can't wait for the Spring/Summer planting season. Napa Valley gardener so not too far of a drive for me.
Congratulations to Colleen and her team! I look forward to stopping by Curious Flora Nursery on my travels through the bay area. I'll have to check out the Rodeo Rose Lupine, too (that should be their signature flower😊). Thanks Janey! ❤M
I live in Southern California and I was ready to order some plants from Annie’s right before they closed. But I am really disappointed that I can not do that now since there is no mail order!!!😭😭
To Curious Flora - - Ive bought plants from Ammies Annuals for ~25 years and amterribly sad to hear it had closed. Altho' I have visited in person, in recent years I've had to order online as my vision has become too poor to drive So, I will be waiting eagerly for you to ship plants again. Until then, farewell (altho' I will send photos of the many plants I've purchased over the years that still thrive in my garden)
Thanks for updating us because the order I placed for my wife was never fulfilled after I ordered from them after she watched your first video with them. I had to dispute the credit card charges to get refunded so glad to understand what happened.
Thanks . I thought I never missed a program. How dare anyone be questionably rude to the most positive gardener and interesting programming out there. thank you for your work, keep it coming!
Maybe you could consider selling seeds online? Pretty please? For your friends who perhaps live on the wrong coast but also love weird and wonderful plants
I downsized last year and had to say goodbye to my garden. But I took my favorite plants that could thrive in pots and no surprise, they were my plants from Annie’s. I’m in Southern CA and did a ton of mail order, always pleased with the excellent shipping and quality. I will check out the other nursery but will miss the Annie’s experience, (when Annie was there!). That was the most unprofessional closing I have ever seen and hoped like many others , there would be someone who would take over. I wish them all the best to keep the nursery going strong. Thank you for interviewing Colleen and giving us the scoop. And for the reminder to support our local garden centers!
set up one in different areas around like caravans 🚐 that drive once a week in each area to go to curious Flores nursery so the that don't maybe can go

YES THANK YOU and your Mom. Janey thank you too💚for giving us this video. I was so sad to hear no more Annie’s.

I can't wait until Spring to go on a road trip with my sister to Curious Flora!! Woot woot!!
So excited for you new venture! May you be blessed!

Thanks for taking the time to set this up and for going the extra mile to do it in person ! ❤
Thank you for your support and kind words! You’re awesome 💗

I think Annie's Annuals will still do mail order starting in the spring thru peaceful valley
Yay! And I’m so there for helping with photos!
Congratulations! This sounds like a dream come true for you and your team.
Fabulous news!! Congrats to the new owners!!
Wow! I am so happy to hear! I had no idea... great news for the bay area!
I’m thrilled that Annie’s Annuals will live on as Curious Flora. The nursery carries some many interesting and unusual plants that others don’t.
Excellent - thanks to Janey for the update video and Colleen and mom for keeping this incredible nursery alive. I live about 40 minutes from it and look forward to visiting in the Spring!
BUT YOUR MOM LOVED THE GARDEN AND HER FRIENDS DID TOO!!!!! SO HAPPY FOR YOUR COLLEEN!
I live in Richmond and I was going to go to Annie’s and was checking the closing times when I saw it was permanently closed. It was the actual day it closed and I was so sad and bewildered by the sudden news… I will be visiting curious flora this weekend 😊
I’m so excited because I found a flowering maple I want! I hope they will still have it. It’s a pink one.
I am obsessed with Ranunculus right now tooo!!!
Wow congratulations on saving a nursery. I have ordered from Annie’s and plants I received were beautiful!
Thank you for the update, all tne best goig ahead for Curious Flora!!!
Thank you Janie for putting this out.
I knew something was up when they were having 20 percent off sales every weekend and I was getting at least two email messages a week about this. Glad to see a younger person running the place now. I wish them all the best.
Congratulations to the new Curious Flora Nursery team. I hope your business flourishes.
Sounds like there is an entrepreneurial opportunity for someone to start a personal shopper/door dash service at Curious Flora for folks who don't live in the Bay Area.
Problem is that plants need to be shipped carefully and rapidly.
This is amazing. I'm so happy they are saving this nursery.
Just signed up for their mailing list. So much relief that these wonderful folks will continue this fabulous nursery. Can't wait for the Spring/Summer planting season. Napa Valley gardener so not too far of a drive for me.
Hopefully I'll see you there one day!
My local Miner’s nursery in San Luis Obispo county has always carried Annie’s flowers. Will you continue that. Love the variety you sell
Thank you for letting us know, Janey!!❤❤❤
From So Cal. Will be making a trip up there next spring to support the nursery and check out a few other places. Best of luck to you!!❤
Congratulations to Colleen and her team! I look forward to stopping by Curious Flora Nursery on my travels through the bay area. I'll have to check out the Rodeo Rose Lupine, too (that should be their signature flower😊). Thanks Janey! ❤M
So so glad they were able to keep it going! We hope it's a huge success!
The best news this month!! Thank you so much for sharing this story with us! ❤❤❤
I live in Southern California and I was ready to order some plants from Annie’s right before they closed. But I am really disappointed that I can not do that now since there is no mail order!!!😭😭
Please let us know if our local garden centers will be able to order ( wholesale) and then be able to offer Curious Flora plants to us.
I'm so excited that I can still go visit this beautiful nursery. Now I just have to save up some money!
lol!
Wishing you all the success you deserve! Can't wait to plan a shopping day!
And I'm anxious to contribute photos!
same! 😆
So our local garden center won’t have plants from curious flora any longer?
Happy for you locally, but really sad no more mail order.
There will be mail-order thru peaceful valley

oh no!! It seemed like it was crazy times there. I'm sorry you had to go thru that.
Very nice video. Best wishes for success.
Question: is the company who bought the Annie’s name and Annie’s business going to continue the mail order business?
Did you put in an Oct. plant or a Nov plant.? I am so enjoying this concept of buying every month! C. Becker 5B
Yep! Oct was Lions Tail. November I have and is waiting to get in the ground. Thanks for watching!
Thanks . I thought I never missed a program. How dare anyone be questionably rude to the most positive gardener and interesting programming out there. thank you for your work, keep it coming!

100% agree!!!
NIce interview!
❤️❤️❤️
So what happened? Annie’s annual sold to a big company? But sold the retail store to curious flora?
There’s a great KQED article about what went down
The mail order company is a wonderful family nursery !

So sad to hear no mail order. 😢 I put of ordering Marie Simon ceanothus until spring 2025. BIG MISTAKE.
It would be great if the customer-submitted plant photos gave the photo credit to the person. Example: Delpinium photo submitted by Janey Santos.
absolutely! i want the credit 🤪
❤❤❤
I don't know how to share a Facebook video. Help someone
Is her name Coleen? Or Kaleen? I can’t understand when pronounced.
Colleen any pronunciation works ☺️
❤
I ordered from Annie’s for things I couldn’t get locally. 😀
Where is this place?
Richmond, CA.. it has been on my bucket list as “Disneyland” for gardeners
👍😊👋
