  • "Katsu is a Japanese dish consisting of breaded and deep-fried meat, seafood, or vegetables. The meat is coated in panko, Japanese breadcrumbs."
Shōwa is San Francisco's first restaurant to offer a gourmet katsu omakase experience. Crafted by Chef Koji Endo, the 10-course tasting menu blends the refined artistry of Kaiseki with the comforting flavors of katsu. Keep watching to see everything I enjoyed!

That tiger prawn add on is ~$60... did you think it was worth 40% of the base menu fee?

It’s designed for two people, so at $30 per person, the portion is generous and well worth the price 😊

I think your review is too generous. Three for food but 4.25 overall? Most disappointing was Tonkatsu. At a Katsu Omakase restaurant should this have been the highlight? Would this be better in Japan?

The overall rating might look a bit too generous for a foodie, but it's hard for me to dismiss the service, location, and price rating as well, because I feel like most who travel cares for those points as well. But for those who goes just for the food, then I highly recommend just looking at the food point! Hope this clarifies my system a bit.
I do find the tonkatsu to be better in Japan, but this is first katsu-kaiseki dining I've experienced so it's quite unique. Thank you so much for watching!
