D-A-D spielen sich mit ihrem Gute-Laune-Rocksound seit den frühen Achtzigern in die Herzen der europäischen Rockfans. Das erklärte Ziel der Band bei ihrer Gründung: Der Anti-Haltung des von ihnen heißgeliebten Punkrocks etwas positives Lebensgefühl entgegenzuhalten.
Zunächst heißt die Band "Disneyland After Dark", doch aufgrund einer drohenden Klage des Disney-Konzerns benennt man sich schnell in D.A.D um. Je nach Schaffensperiode heißt die Band in den Folgejahren D•A•D, D:A:D oder D-A-D.
Schon mit ihrem Debüt "Call Of The Wild" werden D-A-D zu Lokalhelden. Über die Jahre weicht der Fun-Punk einem eher Blues-beeinflussten Rocksound à la AC/DC. Ihr Stil wird von Metal-Insidern gerne als Melodic Heavy Rock bezeichnet. Nach diversen Schicksalsschlägen und Besetzungswechseln sind D-A-D seit dem Jahrtausendwechsel wieder auf Kurs und treten live immer noch kräftig aufs Gaspedal.
2009 spielten D-A-D erstmals auf dem Wacken Open Air, zehn Jahre später das zweite Mal, diesmal anlässlich des 12. Studioalbums "A Prayer For The Loud".

People are not talking about Jakob Binzer enough. One of most underrated lead guitarists in hard rock IMO.

Eine der Bands, ich mir immer wieder Live gebe. Habe sie dutzende Male Live gesehen und sie waren immer megagut. Eine der besten Live-Bands die ich kenne und gesehen habe, und ich habe verdammt viele in meinem Leben gesehen.

A shame that we arent that many yng peaple that still listens to rock. I am lead Singer and bassist in a band and the first song we played was Sleeping my Day away. I think thet are one of the greatest live bands of all time.
I live in U.S. and saw some of big name bands from 80's and 90's during the last 2 summers. Those bands sound horrible compared to D-A-D! There is so much to be admired about D-A-D. Forty years and still rocking at a High Level!
Back in 2012 I was at Wacken at saw a guy in a crowd with a patch on his battle vest with this skull and “Disneyland After Dark” and I was like “cool patch, funny” and he said “nothing funny, great band” or something like this. And when I get back to civilization I had found their music and was very surprised. “Breaking them heart by heart” is still my no. 1

You can watch a live concert of them from 15 years ago or you can watch a live concert from yesterday….. These gentlemen NEVER disappoint you because they never lost their power and transport their energy every time. This doesn’t happen a lot with bands over the years
Immer wieder Sehens-und hörenswert, absolut sympathische Truppe, im Mai 1990 Batschkapp FFM das erste Mal mal gesehen 💪 2024 rocken die genau so 👍

Depends on where you live. If you live in the USA, then they only play the MORC cruises, to the rest of the world, D-A-D has been chugging on all of these years putting out great albums the whole time. They just released their greatest hits album for 40 years. You've got a lot of history to catch up on.
