      Hey man, I saw your other comment about getting a 2wd Slash, how is it? I've been thinking about picking up a 4x4 Slash brushless but I want some ppl's opinions on the Slash, how fast is it off road? Does it go through medium tall grass okay? Ya know, small critical questions.. Like is it bashable? Like does it break easy or all the time?.. Sorry for the paragraph, just saw that you bought one and wanted to know how you feel about it..

    • @aidenmaves5537

      @@Towelie42O i prefer 2wd. With 4x4 its just another thing to break. My slash has been phenomenal so far ( brushless ) . i reccomend getting a different servo cause they break easier than you would think. Also you will probably hear ticking sounds in your spur gear which is just dirt that finds its way in.. Bad design from traxxas anyway. its nothing to worry about if you clean it every now and then. It also trucks through grass surprisingly well.
      Pro tip, DONT GREASE THE SUSPENTION COMPONENTS as counter intuitive as it may sound the grease only attracts dirt and causes faster wear And the suspention will be smoother without it. Overall very tough truck and has been extremely reliable so far 👍

    • @aidenmaves5537
      @aidenmaves5537 3 роки тому +2

      @@Towelie42O also i would not reccomend getting metal parts . the plastic is already extremely durable. Its almost mind blowing, if it takes a hard hit the plastic absorbs the impact and reduces damage. With metal once it bends it stays that way. Nor does it absorb impacts

    Currently my slash 4x4 is 3S and has all RPM A-arms and bumpers. Tekno center drive shaft and stock drive shafts. I can't seem to break it so far. I have the slash ultimate, broke about 8 of the plastic driveshafts, I ended up getting the MIP x-Duty’s, now I can’t seem to stop going through spur gears, and the pinion gear on the motor keeps spinning off no matter what I do, I’m gonna weld that crap the next time it happens. The BIGGEST problem I have with the slash is OVERHEATING!!! I’m running the stock motor and esc on a 3s lipo, I get about 9 minutes of bashing before it cuts the throttle, I’ve tried the cheap heat sink and fan combos and they help a little until the fans break. So if you had any recommendations for overheating and the spur gear problem, that would be great.

    • @CodyJohnstonbaugh
      @CodyJohnstonbaugh 3 роки тому +2

      When you keep going through spur gears like that replace your motor mount plate. I had that issue on mine and I found out the plate was slight tweaked causing it to chew through gears.

    • @gohobby9934
      @gohobby9934  3 роки тому +1

      Well, make sure the spur and pinion are perfectly aligned and that the mesh is set right. If it's too tight, you are more apt to get overheating. Also, if you are running in grass or doing a lot of stop and go, you may still run into heat issues. A fan is recommended, but like you discovered, the fans break too easy. You could also try a smaller pinion, but if you're going 3s, it's probably because you want more speed. A smaller pinion does the opposite.

    • @bikeislife8405
      @bikeislife8405 3 роки тому +1

      The larger the heatsink, the greater the thermal transfer, I'd recommend drilling large holes towards the front/rear of the shell to pass air though the components, otherwise the body insulates it. ALSO, instead of using your "brakes" to slow the truck, let it coast to slow down, reverse polarity is a heat bomb.
