I am really enjoying all these scholars' conversations. Thank you so much. I did my grad work on Paul's use of the Genesis creation stories in his letters, including the uses of the planting image. Paul's three main sources for his new story are Scripture, the Christ event and the experiences of the faith community. Richard B. Hays's book, Echoes of Scripture in the Letters of Paul was helpful in understanding the interplay of these three sources. I really appreciate Prof. Rosen Zvi's views on where the rift(s) occur - he illustrates the delicate approach necessary for interpreting and understanding Paul in his context. Thanks again.

Thank you. Paul is such a complex and complicated figure. Lots of interesting points in this video. I would love to hear professors views what would be Pauls reactions and thoughts if he had been introduced to the Nicene christianity that ended up "winning the day" and which draws so much from Johannine theology that i assume would have sounded very strange in Pauls ears.

Just like biblical and historical evidence proves that jesus and his apostles were vegatarians biblical and historical evidence also proves that the trinity, atonement, original sin and hell are very late misinterpretations and are not supported by the early creed hence its not a part of Christianity I pray that Allah swt revives Christianity both inside and out preserves and protects it and makes its massage be witnessed by all people but at the right moment, place and time
The secred text of the Bible says ye shall know them by their fruits
So too that I say to my christian brothers and sisters be fruitful and multiply

Great stuff. Religion is all hokum to me, but it's never boring. This understanding of Paul makes absolute sense, and is pretty-much what I have thought over many years. If we were able to combine the three Abrahamic religions into the original 1st century BC Judaism, it would serve all those who need a deity very well - just one universal God. Right? Still religious hokum, but fewer reasons to kill each other.

    Dear Prof Rosen Svi,
I found your scholarly representation of Jesua, Paul and the gospel message very interesting and even enlightening. Especially in the sence of Jewish scholarships effort to make sence of Jesus, Paul etc. Nothing wrong with that. Thats what scholars do.
However, what I do find interesting is not the things that you do say, but the things you ommit that are central to a fuller understanding of what we in mainstream Christianity REALY belief (we have our own quota of heretics!) ito the Gospel figures and their message. I think that might help to have a clearer understanding of the Good News.
As a gentile follower of the Jewish messiah we do share your faith in the only ONE creator God, who through the SEED will destroy the head of the snake, elected Israel as His people through whom He will bless the (goyiim) the nations of whom I am one. Praise be to Him for his mercy shown to a lost sinner like me. Without Tanakh, I and millions of others would have no clue of God and any hope for eternal salvation. I thank God for the Jewish scriptures and his prophets who announced the comming of a new covenant in which I as a gentile can partake. If not I would have been lost for eternity.
May God bless you in your scholarly endevours.

Previous to invent christianity, Paul cancells Judaism, yet as for the TANACH i think Paul when wanting to prove without doubt some statements he had, he will go to Torah and Prophets and Scriptures. I personally don't agree with Paul's interpretations.
