- A cheap desktop synth stand hack using a dual monitor stand, 2 laptop trays and velcro. Possibly the best synth stand ever?! Total cost around £90. Ideal for a small DAWLESS setup
It looks good, is quick to build, and can take various sized synths.
I use it for the following:
Roland MC 707 stand
Roland TR8s stand
Novation Peak stand

THIS IS THE SOLUTION I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR!!
THANK YOU!!!
Glad you found it useful 👍
Wow awesome product. Have to get one. Thanks so much for sharing
You are so welcome
Got one of these exactly thw same make and model, I works amazingly well with my drumbrute and launchpad on as frees up desk space for my mpc one and midi keyboard basically double layering my setup.
I love it, works great and costs a fraction of dedicated music stands 👍
Very clever indeed.... I'm a bit weird I like everything flat....but Im sure loads of people will do this...thanks for sharing!
I think Im the weird one, no one else bother building something that a flat surface does perfectly well!
@@2bfrnk this is such a good idea though😉most people build up studio like this,Im just quite short lol... top tip for tables though is old pub tables....the old solid wooden ones, got 4 2 lasrge 2 small for £40😉
Bargain! 😁👍
Nice, this gave me some ideas for my setup.
Thanks Terry!
@@2bfrnk the snythiser is not affordable, becuase its 700$ you lied
Synths do tend to be quite expensive
@@2bfrnk yea
Great vid and solving an issue I’ve been dealing with but now put the power cables the midi cables the audio cables etc on… 👏
It will look messy then! 😬
@@2bfrnk maybe one day we’ll go full wireless 👍
I was looking at that set up in another video you did and wondered where you got it.
Same here :-)
Thanks for this video!
(well made video btw)
One question, I have a feeling that fingerdrumming on the 707 will cause the arm to move around?
It has a little bounce in it but nothing much, think of it like suspension for your fingers! I don't do much finger drumming to be fair but when I jam on them I don't have any issues.
@@2bfrnk Thnx.
My 707 is moving around on the desk when I do my jamming :)
Maybe I need to increase the sensitivity ;P
@@tricks-and-tips start fingering some girl, not 707 :P
Sweet............thanks!
No problem 👍
wow cool setup. oh boy i thought my gas was quenched. but now ...
It is stable enough, but I think cheaper model WITHOUT gas inside arms would be more stable. Just screw it with full power and voila. Great idea, thanx :D

No problem! 😁👍
nice!
Thanks Nicolas 👍
Just need to manage 8 audio outs, Midi/USB and power out of each machine now.
Maybe I need to make a video on how to tidy cables too!
Links in the description for all of the parts needed!
Where is the link's?
be careful with those velcro strips, the velcro holds really well, but the adhesive at the back wears out over time (especially with heat coming from units) - I've had it fail before!
Thanks for the heads up, I'll keep an eye on them!
U welcome
Looks like every time you push a button on the units the arms will move and shake. It looks like the same unstable X keyboard stands they have made for the last 5 decades. It does not look rock solid stable such as sitting on the desk.
Hey, thanks for the comment. You would be surprised how stable it is, check it out in this video ua-cam.com/video/G3HpnP-I624/v-deo.html
@@2bfrnk Thank you for the additional video and the help. I have already built my own studio desk from from my own design, I think I will build these extensions as well too. The video shows far to much movement for me ( I get ill working on devices that move, sea sicknesses). My eyes/brain need solid no movement tables...just me. Great idea for everyone else!
👌🏼
Cheers mate!
OK. Not 100% convinced but appreciate the video.
So that's £65 for one stand or £85 for the two.
Bit wobbly - might be fine but not sure. Does look nice and neat and tidy but think the wobble would bug me.
Its not a stand for the heavy handed, but works great for me 😁 I paid £65 for both, there are loads on amazon though so you might even find them cheaper. Check it out in my other videos, you can see it being used ua-cam.com/video/G3HpnP-I624/v-deo.html 👍🏼
Seems bouncy..? Is it hard to play like that?
No, not really. If you are really heavy handed then I guess a solid flat desk is better, but I find it great! Check it out in action ua-cam.com/video/7mbWMD1KBBI/v-deo.html
Never over tighten ANYTHING.
It doesn't add strength or stability.
Sheer a thread and it's nothing but scrap metal.
bit wobbly for bashing out breakbeats >_
Nah, it's fine! Not good if you are heavy handed, but a skilful beat ninja would love it!
@@2bfrnk we see right through what you're trying to do. you can't blame people's hands for your setup being shaky. It's either shakey or it's not and yours is
Well done Columbo, you got me 👏🏼😂
It looks cool until you add the jacks, midi and power supply ...
Maybe I need to make a video on how to tidy up cables too!
@@2bfrnk Good idea actually
WHY would this be produced with no soundtrack?
Why would it need sound? It’s a video about a stand
@@2bfrnk reason one - every other vid with these machines on YT has sound. Reason 2 - this is my first video of yours I have seen and would have liked the opportunity to hear you. Take care friend.
Its too wobley especially if u gonna hit the sampling pads
It not for gorilla hands thats for sure!
@@2bfrnk seriously?
Seriously?
But can be operated? Seems like very “weak” and the position not locked…
Hi Daniel. It works great, check it out in my other videos ua-cam.com/video/G3HpnP-I624/v-deo.html
I've got one of these exact same model stands with a 28" monitor attached using the same VESA plate. Nothing weak about it, they're very well engineered and work exceptionally well. Medium sized monitors are about the same weight as the size of synth you'd put on these plates, so I'd not be concerned.
Well he's been doing some awesome jams on em? So they work?
What I meant is that these kind of stands usually are to be “left untouched” (TVs, monitors…) and not for devices “with buttons”, but hey if they work great I may buy one for the digitakt and digitone…
and when you try to push a button than it moves out of the way.... smart
I guess if you are heavy handed and clumsy then its not the stand for you!
You can adjust the stands to not bounce and swing around so much when you are playing, but at the end of the day these things were not designed to be used like this, so the more you play, or the harder you are hitting things, the more it's going to want to move...
I've got a 28" monitor hanging off one of these same stands. So long as you adjust them to give enough resistance, it's not goig to cause you a problem, unless you go into look-at-me over melodramatic knob-twisting DJ mode !
It's really too bad that no company ever released these style stands purpose made for synths, with a more heavy duty arm piston maybe that could handle the extra force of someone banging away.
See it in action, it’s very stable 👍 m.ua-cam.com/video/UXglCP45Aww/v-deo.html
