“You should have just ditched the weights” that was my first thought too! I swear I could hear my instructor saying that in my head when they said they were overweighted.
georgiaisprocrastinating Then again, that would just lead to an uncontrolled ascent. Also dangerous. Better to dive correctly weighted in the first place. Then you can use your lung volume to ascend even on complete BCD failure.
Yggdrasil42 they were at the surface when their BCD failed so they could have dropped their weights as soon as possible. And they said their regulator was out of their mouth so they were on the same breath of air so an uncontrolled ascent wouldn’t be as big of a deal. I agree they should have been properly weighted though.
A good example for why one should not to take the reg out of their mouth (or at least hold it in their hand if they take it out) until they're out of the water... Or why the spare 2nd stage should be on the chest rather than trailing loosely at the end of hose next to the feet... I admit that it would take me a bit of time before thinking about ditching weight in that scenario while I first go through the less radical options.
On a Coz trip we ran into some Tec divers one of our group knew. They had just done a deep dive on a wreck. While on it another diver joined them for awhile. Back on board they asked the Captain what other boat had put divers in. His answer was: No other boats have been here today!
Scuba diving camps are great, but really rare. In Poland we are organising one in scuba club in Cracow - AKP Krab. 10 days on Elba Island is just great :D
Teaching diving an open water check out on San Juan Islands, students wanted knowledge of underwater life but we were there for scuba. To answer questions my dive partner an I moved to Friday Harbor with 2 zodiac, 2-50 motors, 2- motorcycles an dad's mobile hunting trailer. Great time measured largest octopi in world, etc.. At end of 3 months Kenny became professional diver on oil rigs in Baltic Sea. His mom had deadly disease so he came home to Portland Oregon for his dying mother. While in Portland the oil rig he was on had gas blowout an Kenny was one of only survivors because he was off rig visiting his mother! His mother's disease bankrupted family an was hereditary! Later Kenny came down with same as mother's an he didn't want his death to bankrupt his wife an daughter, so he put a bullet in his head! Bravest guy I ever met! We're both in 225 club on straight air! Love ya, Kenny! Thanks, Tim
Now I don't know much about scuba diving, but those ampulles of morphine could be dangerous when broken. If the morphine gets in your mouth and in your system, you'll lose coordination really quick. If you inhale them...that's not going to be pretty and can be lethal.
Hi, I'm a diver from Taiwan. If someone died at sea, we will burn something for him/her, like ghost money, paper shoes, paper clothes etc. And some believe that one will have bad luck for a long time because ghost will follow that person like pay~~my~~money~~back~~~. But I think you will be fine because Taiwanese are nice to foreigners hahahaha.
07:59 and that's why I only take my mask off after I'm back on the boat or land. Even in knee-deep water you can trip over a stone, or get knocked over by a wave. Stay safe.
Thank you to everyone who watched our first Premiere! What did you think? Should we do it again? Let us know below 😁😁😁

Ghost money can be thrown in the water for many reasons, not just death. During dragonboat festival ghost money is thrown in the water as an example.
I love your videos keep up the good work 😀😀😀😀😀😀😀

You missed Spooktober chaps.
This was live?
Sort of! We used UA-cam Premiere where you can watch the video as if it was live with live chat. Was fun to do 😊
