@@3012ftp oh I guess I must’ve meant the clay lol. It looked green, sorry 😂 what sand did you use, would you know? (is it play sand, reptisand, etc..) thanks again! really helpful :)
How do I make my gecko happier? I have done lots of research but I can't find proper information on how to create a proper set-up or how to make him happy
what a great video! I have some questions to ask if you don’t mind (I don’t know anything about these geckos but they look awesome) -did these guys climb? like at all? I’m just wondering :) -where’d you place the humid hide?? -I saw some other comments, and wouldn’t it be better to add a heat mat instead of a heat light, since they’re nocturnal?? I’m just wondering why you chose a heat light -could we use real plants in this setup? Like some spinifex grass? would it be possible? thanks, I will watch your other videos aswell!
hi, thank you so much :) yes if given the opportunity they do climb they can make the most out of the space. i was spraying the hide right underneath the heating lamp as a humid hide. i don't use heat mats because in nature warmth comes from above and i want to do it the natural way. also a viv with no light would not be natural in my opinion. heat maths are not that safe either, if you don't let any air circulate around it. and will the heat really go trough the glass+ substrate sufficiently i'm not sure. of course you can use real plants if you like, you just have to keep an eye on the feeder insects because they can munch on your plants.
I am gonna get one of these and I wanted to ask some questions if you don’t mind answering. 😄 -did you give them any calcium? If so, which one did you use -what heating did you use -how much hides did you add -how often did you feed them thanks, the terrarium looks so natural!
I used exo terra calcium with d3 and dusted the insect about every two weeks with it. For heat i used i think a 30 or 50w heating light bulb. There was one humid hide and obe corkbark for him to hide in and the background to climb on. I feed all of my reptiles twice a week. Thank you!
I love that you gave him some ledges and branches! People don't realize how much do these little guys climb! Just because they'e terrestrial doesn't mean they don't enjoy some height. :D Great job on a beautiful enclosure!
Great video!!! What an amazing looking setup! Just a question, would you need a heat pad for this species of gecko, or does that depend on the climate of where you live?
@@3012ftp I think that nocturnal or crepuscular animals obtain heat from underneath instead of upwards. Still putting rocks for making them basking spots instead of using a heat pad is good tho...
@@webodeescorpion7037 I do believe that if the rock the basking bulb is heating retains the heat once the light is off it's good, as it radiates at night when they're active
I stumbled upon this video on my fyp and this is awesome! I just want to ask, did you leave the feeder insects in or not, and why? If you did, did you leave mealworms in or also 1-2 crickets. If you didn’t, how’d you feed them? By a tweezer? Food bowl? Cheers
Thank you! :) I fed him smaller crickets, some i fed by tweezer and some i left in the tank for him to hunt. I don‘t feed mealworms and i‘m not using any bowls to feed my reptiles.
@@3012ftp alright thanks! I am wondering, you only fed your gecko crickets or other insects aswell? Im wondering if I should get mealworms aswell, would that be a good idea? thanks again, cheers!
@@beanieboofriends5555 i‘m not a fan of melaworms, they are no the healthiest option as a feeder insect. Hard to digest, contain a lot of fat, and not really much nutritional value. Offered as a treat once in a while ok. Gutloaded crickets and dubia roaches are much better. Or small locusts :)
SaltyShanker that's for you to decide. I use this mix because in my opinion sand is the most natural substrate but just not in it's loose form. Mixed with the right amount of clay and a bit of water then dried out, this substrate is very compact and the possibility of an impaction practically nonexistant :)
JTB Reptiles no, i don't know any cleanup crew that would survive in a dry environment..but luckily most geckos poop at the same spot so i just put a piece of toilet paper there ;)
GECKOS Interesting! I have a clean up crew in my leopard gecko’s enclosure, consisting of tropical grey woodlice and mealworms (and the beetles). I find that a few moist clumps of sphagnum moss here and there is actually enough to keep them alive!
JTB Reptiles everyone s praying at this substrate at the moment :D i don't really understand it, where's the difference to potting soil? Plus leopardgeckyoutube und mike tytula both hat problems with high humidity because of this substrate... Arcadia praises it as something so special but it's just potting soil xD I would not use an erathy substrate for a "desert" vivarium. It's just not natural enough in my opinion ;)
can you please do a care guide on this gecko I'm thinking of getting one but there are no good care guides
What did you pour on the sand on the beginning of the video?
Clay powder
may I know what substrate you used? what kind of sand is that, and what is the greenish thing that you put in??
also, what heating to use? thanks :D
The substrate was sand mixed with claypowder and water. I don‘t know what green thing do you mean?

You don't have to use sand, you can chose whatever you think is best for the gecko and maybe look at it's habitat and how they live in nature🙂
