@@atolm1 I'll try to disagree. Hey qween has a different format. "Christmas is so gay! I mean suddenly everybody is wearing sweaters, they're bursting into song--we're putting our trees in drag! It's like it's gay pride in a different color scheme." ~BenDelaCreme Legend!
I completely agree with Dela. I hate the way that Queens have to eliminate each other in Allstars. I watch Drag Race to see Queens flourish, to see their talent, and see them shine. I’m not here for the cut throat competition and drama! I just wanna see the best in my favorite Queens, and watch their ups and downs.
I loved Ben from the get go on season 6 but what she did in the face of those ridiculous competition rules on All Stars deserves mad respect. She is just real. She is just herself and stays true to that.
Joseph, you’re such a good interviewer! I really appreciate how you ask such good questions, and you give them time to answer each question thoroughly.
Hands down one of THE best drag queens, not just from Drag Race but in the world. And I just love her confidence and how she knows who she is, like "Of course I would've won, were you watching?" People have different opinions abut Dela's self-elimination but in restrospect, after the intial shock, it's just like, what a badass move. She became even more iconic than if she had stayed and won.
I felt so warm and cold when she eliminated herself. So sad that she was going home, so sad that she eliminated herself, but I was so warmed by her selflessness and kindness, and also the theatrics of it all! She really shone through in that moment.
Dela is such an honest and genuine person. You can really see that in the way she responded to the questions. A surprisingly strong interview. A variety of questions, that really gave the guest a chance to open up. Well done to both of you!
I met dela at provincetown 2 years ago, and she was incredibly kind and genuine. Of all of the drag race contestants, I've always been drawn more to Jinkx and Dela, because of their unique and quirky theatrical styles. Dela is way more than what is seen on drag race, too, for sure.
Absoooluuuutely have come to LOVE Dela and Ben. Intelligent, Articulate, Beautiful! Thank you Joseph for being such a great interviewer, always respectful and never disrupting. Great job !
Dela is so beautiful and intelligent. I love to listen to her speak. Jinkx and Dela definitely compliment each other. Elegant, sophisticated, super smart, talented.. just two all around great queens. I love that they work together and have been friends for so long
Such a distinguished and honorable queen. She could've easily taken the crown, and eliminated herself knowing that. Awesome performer! Hope to see her one day in person.
It's so weird for me that people criticise a persona being fake. That's the POINT. It's a character you are playing. The whole "You have to be vulnerable for people to like you" I get as a thing in actual interpersonal relationships but not as a factor in whether you admire a performer's art.
What DeLa said about dealing with the pandemic is so true. My friends and I have very introverted nihilistic sides so when we were stuck at home it wasn't that strange for us. People who weren't used to sitting and contemplating life or occupying their time quietly just freaked out.
Believe it or not, I was one of BenDeLaCreme's (Ben Putnam's) Tiger Cub leaders when he was in grade school in Litchfield, CT. In high school he joined my daughter Cora Lynn in Grease!
Ugh, I rolled my eyes at the question about the hiatus. Young gay people nowadays think that drag only happens if it's in the sphere of Drag Race. No, the world of drag doesn't start and end with RuPaul and World of Wonders.
@Emmanuel I just watched that part and thought the same thing! Kind of a pointed question, but she handled it with grace and confidence. Dela was very active after drag race and has always been diligent and industrious. Such a talented queen!
I comment this I'm every single one of your videos but I don't care. You are an AMAZING interviewer!!! Even if some of these queen's aren't my "Favorite" you still create a safe space for these queen's to have real conversations about THEM I also want to thank you for changing your original in person set up to something more covid friendly but keeping the quality.
I totally agree with you. You are totally right. He has interviewed some queens that I didn't like before and by the time he is done, I am in awe of them. He is doing such a great thing! Something positive during this horrific time in our lives is exactly what is needed. So much positivity!
Definitely agree! He gives the queens the time and space to actually talk. Makes the interview about them, not about him. This is how interviews should be done! Keep up the great work!
She definitely inspired my drag persona. I love me some Dela 💕 I do more of a vintage/old hollywood look but she made me think of the details in every look I do.
Loved the interview! Thank you Joseph for creating this highly informative interviews with the queens!! I seriously fall more in love with each one because this platform really feels like a sneak peek behind the fabulous drag curtain.
Joseph this was a great episode! I never miss an upload. I absolutely love your content, & Dela was such a treat! Thanks alot for the great work 👍 😀 ❤🙌
BenDeLaCreme being two dimensional is BS...she is a diamond of a queen! She is such a multi faceted performer and person. Massive love and respect!!!!!!!
This has been such an uplifitng interview. Thank you so much. You as an interviewer are a treasure and Dela is a well of widsom and empowerment. Thank you for doing the work you are doing!
Drag Race seemed to show Dela in a fake light. She seems genuinely nice. She seems super confident and a master of her craft. She didn’t seem to want to be competitive. It may not be her nature. Sometimes but personalities are still introverts.
For good or ill, it's become extremely polished. DeLa and Jinkx, especially, represent the Queens of the past, but with better makeup and costumes. Remember, season one represented the best of drag―and that was 2009! Now, imagine 1986 Queens. Oy! Even the revues in Vegas (Boylesque and La Cage aux Folles) didn't match up to what Drag Race has become.
@@leoparlo I'm with you. I miss the old DR, but it isn't a popular opinion. I did feel a bit of the old DR with Canada's first season. I will still watch season 13 in the hopes someone comes through that excites me.
@@davidadams2395 the difference is now the queens started drag because they want to be famous. The previous ones did it for the absolute love. Plus you needed strong talent and grit to survive working at clubs and get the limited gigs available.
Dela is being way too considerate. Darien was not only mean, she was insecure and vindictive. She was on her way to being the Roxxy Andrews of her season but unfortunately the show made the huge mistake of getting rid of Dela so Darien could no longer antagonize her. In the end it doesn't matter because Dela is known for being a fierce, talented queen who can write her own ticket to success whereas Darien fizzled out of sight and out of mind.

I really love how Joseph lets his guests talk or even rant for as long as they want without interruption or judgement
I agree - nothing worse than an interviewer who wants to hear himself speak more than their guest. He's pretty great.

She slayed PART of the AS3 competition since she eliminated herself.
