You can't really compare the X1 and the GLA 250 in terms of size. The GLA is significantly smaller and looks more like a hatchback. While I agree that the ride may be smoother, the inside cabin is extremely snug. I know this because a friend of mine owns a GLA 250 and it's a nightmare even with just a 3rd person in the back when we go up for snowboarding trips. The head height in my opinion is way too low in the GLA, I just feel too crammed. The better model to compare the X1 to is the GLC 300. The only reason it compares better with the X3 is because of the price difference. But if you compared the 2 side by side you would actually see that size and dimension wise they are not far off, and this would make sense because the X1 and the X3 are not far off in terms of size. The X3 is a little bit higher off the ground and is longer in size, but the X1 on the inside is only marginally smaller on the inside than the X3. Actually ironically you get more headroom and rear seat leg room in the X1 than the X3 which is why I opted for the X1. But in terms of comparing cars I think the GLC 300 is the best comparison to the X1, and while it's about 10-15k more expensive than the X1, it's higher off the ground, offers a little bit more cargo space (not too much) and will be a much more luxurious ride. MB is the best for prioritizing comfort as your #1, and BMW is best for people who want the easiest and cleanest ergonomic driving experience. The X1 is by no means sporty to drive, but it can over-take cars on the road much better than the mercedes, and has much better turning handling

Awesome looking car. Not a colour I'd go for but looks great nonetheless. It's interesting to see garage door opener buttons on the past couple of reviews - I've never seen them on a car in Europe, must be a US thing.. Another awesome review mate!
It's just personal preference really with those two really. I'd personally stretch the budget and go X3 for the ride quality but both are solid picks 👍
lol maybe with some models but i'll take an x1 over a GLA 250 any day. You're comparing a small SUV to a MB Hatchback. The lowest model MB that would be a better upgrade to the X1 is the GLC 300
