why you guys act like assholes?? does the case that not everybody in the world knows or cares about D-Day ever crossed your mind or that simply his knowledge is limited to maybe only games or movies that show for example only one beach and that happened to not be Utah? Not everyone is a history expert or enthusiasts.
Some of these games depict the bar being a small assault rifle while in reality, it weighs at around 8kgs (17.5 pounds)
Dinnit people who lugged that gun around for a beginner must've suffered until they got used to it

Fired a BAR few weeks ago, had hard time trying to control the recoil despite the gun being very heavy compared to more modern machine guns. I'm 6'3" and 260lb with a lot of trigger time with defferent firearms, can only imagine what it was for some 110lb WW1 soldier who had just a few weeks of bootcamp for training. That gun sure feels like it packs a punch!

I’ve fired the BAR as well (from the bipod and standing) and it’s only hard to control if you’re not prepared for it. If you’re expecting it to shoot like any other modern day belt fed or battle rifle, you’ll be taken back by the recoil.
The gun is actually lighter or on par with many modern light machine guns. It’s around the same weight as an M60, but it fires a more powerful cartridge. It’s lighter than the M240 and PKM.

I used to love the sound of the BAR on Call of duty world at war. Especially when someone else was shooting it. You could distinctly hear it across the map. THUD THUD THUD THUD THUD!!!

The BAR was my favorite weapon in World at War simply because of how versatile it felt. It had a steady rate of fire so you could 2 or 3 shot people across the map, while still having an automatic gun.

My neighbor used a BAR in the Philippines in 44/45. He said the slow fire was great, but the fast fire kicked like a mule. He’s 5’8” btw.

I mean look at fucken RO2, probably the most immersive ww2 game reloads the gun the same way as ww2 yet no one batted an eye. I own 2 of these rifle’s in my collection. I have a total of 35 real WW2 rifles and let me tell you, the Browning m1918a2 is no joke. Without the bi-pod it ways about 18 pounds and with the bi-pod it weighs about 22lbs....and this is not including a fully loaded magazine.
I also have a matrix airsoft version of it and the airsoft version WITH the bi-pod is still lighter than my real one WITHOUT a bi pod. It’s absolutely insane how heavy the real one is. I feel so bad for whoever had to carry one in WW2.
I kid you not when I say this is the only rifle I have that I can’t shoulder for more than 2 seconds. It’s hard to even hold it for more than a couple minutes even without shouldering the rifle. You will never understand unless you have the chance to hold one in the future.
Man I'm so jealous that you have a full metal matrix B.A.R I remember I had one preordered on evike but they kept changing the date that they'll have it to ship to me then after six months it just went to a TBA date so I got pissed and demanded my money back. I still kick myself in the teeth for not being patient because you can't find them anywhere anymore like if it was a special limited time airsoft gun
Yeah the Army really messed up the BAR by doing that. Made it heavier without any reason. Most soldiers stripped the BAR but like you said even then it was still heavier than the original.

Pretty sure a Bar had an open bolt than a closed bolt. If so the cod ww2 reload is inaccurate
@@JetstreamSamurai a bar's bolt is supposed to be locked back when you pull it and then locks foward and starts reciprocating until you are empty. In ww2 the bolt moves foward on its own without the player ever pulling the trigger.

Also you only get the BAR for the last mission and you use it briefly to shoot down some planes at the end of the first mission but that's the only time I can remember it being in the campaign.

Wow! I used to play Brothers In Arms Earned In Blood all the time! I love how protagonist Joseph Hartsock was able to aquire one in mission 4. Easily the best full auto gun, not counting the MG42 because you cannot carry it on the go.

In Enemy Front it is a Wz.28, a polish made BAR.

BF1 SUCKS, that reload is too modern looking and casual.
CoD WW2 is even WORSE. It’s basically what the reload would look like if BAR was 10 times lighter.
BF1 BAR reload feels too light, same with every weapon. Day of Infamy is some heavy shit and I love it.
The only criticism i have for COD 2s reload is that the charging handle doesnt reciprocate with the bolt.

I think the BAR sights for DoD Source seems to mix the front post for the A2 and the originals' peep sight borrowed from the M1917 Enfield

Apparently, the BAR in World at War fires with a reciprocating bolt -- that is, the charging handle moves back and forth after every shot, like an AK47. Now pause at, say, 3:19 with Battlefield 1942 and take a good look at the position of the charging handle -- specifically the rail -- relative to his firing hand.
According to WaW, the rail of the charging handle would literally saw through his thumb every time he fired it. Brilliant, ain't it?

Also... wasn't the BAR impossible to aim from the shoulder? I was told it could only be operated with a harness across the chest and aimed from the hip, but feel free to correct me
most soldiers were farm kids who were used to hauling around really heavy stuff. It was light enough to shoot from the shoulder with the initial model but later models were so heavy they would be fired usually from the hip but there are photos and videos of soldiers firing from the shoulder.

Because the BAR fires from an open bolt, so when empty you need to charge the handle before reloading and not after like a close bolt platform, while this isn't a real issue it demonstrates a lack of even 5 mins of research

best sound: MoH" Allied Assault. It just screams "POWER!". Too bad the weapon ingame is not used that often.
best variant: Enemy Front (it's a Polish Browning model 1928)
weidest sound: MoH Pacific Assault (could BAR actually have a silencer installed?)
worst sound: CoD: World at War (Why do all weapons in this game, apart from Garand, sound like toys?)

CoD WWII ruined the BAR in every single way. Too overpowered, too fast, too accurate, unrealistic reload, AND it's misclassified as a general "rifle" when it's really a light machine gun. Doesn't matter if it only holds 20 rounds.
It's sights are also incorrect and doesn't have a lug to attach bayonets but it's not that much faster than its actual fast auto mode
