    That is correct for every internal art. Place the emphasis on the mind. Polish your Hsing and your Yi until your art becomes clear, natural, and spontaneous. Forms and stepping patterns are only (no pun intended) stepping stones.
    Good luck!

      Well duh
      There's a butt load of grappling in traditional martial arts. This isn't new information technically.

      @PaMuShin
      I'm in no position to disagree.
      However
      My point is that traditional martial arts in general including the striking arts have more grappling than the average person thinks.
      Off balancing techniques both push and pull
      Locks
      Dislocation
      Throws
      All of which are literally grappling.
      40+ years in this and my Shuai Jiao instructor was the closed door master for instructors.
      Back in Chicago ages ago.
      On paper he was the Tai Chi instructor for the older crowd and yes Bagua was one of his favorite things to teach.
      Shuai Jiao was the only style of Kung Fu I technically learned and I had the privilege of connecting with a lot of different styles.
      So yeah there's tons of actual grappling in traditional martial arts.
