  • Leavenworth, in Washington state USA is commonly rated as the very best Christmas town in the entire world! Nestled in the Cascade mountains it truly is absolutely amazing. Leavenworth is all old world Bavarian architecture that looks beautiful all year, but really comes alive at Christmas time. The beautiful buildings, snowy and sparking Christmas lights dazzle. And you feel like you're in the middle of a North pole snow globe. It boasts the world's largest nutcracker museum, Christmas shops, a gingerbread factory, many delicious bakeries, restaurants, popcorn and treat shops that fill the air with alluring smells. You can even buy roasting chestnuts, go on a horse drawn carriage, a one or two horse open sleigh, pet reindeer at a reindeer farm or perhaps sled down the hill in the town's main square. All the while live choirs sing Christmas carols! Of course Santa and Mrs. Clause are out and about along with Frosty the snowman and numerous other Christmas characters.
I decided to not do commentary and just let you hear the sounds of Leavenworth. I can't convey the smells, but it smelled amazing! Lot's of sweet treats and no one appeared to be gassy! Win all around!

The Christmas tree lighting is a beautiful thing in Leavenworth.
They start just after October Fest and it ends on 2/15 every year.
It’s fun and festive but the parking SUCKS and you have to walk around on compact snow and ice.
We live up in the mountains 20 minutes from Leavenworth and 25 minutes to Wenatchee.
We too get 5-7 feet of snow every winter. We live 5 miles from Cashmere on a private road that we have to plow and maintain ourselves.
We have spectacular views of mountains and the canyon below us.

Sounds gorgeous, but difficult. Leavenworth hotels are crazy expensive!

      Yes they are.
Last I heard they were $500 / night. An Airbnb in Leavenworth is $350 / night.
An Airbnb in Cashmere and Dryden are $70-$125 / night.
My dad currently lives in our Airbnb, 1 bedroom 1 bath apartment with full kitchen, dining room and living room, almost $800 sq ft).
Before my dad came to live in the apartment, our Airbnb was $100 / night. We gave special rates for people who stayed 7 days, 2 weeks or a month at a time.
We were booked solid from April through the end of March, every year.
Chelan County now charges taxes for Airbnb’s. We have to pay ahead of time before we can rent out our attached apartment.

Reminds me of the Alpine villages near Salzburg, Austria..the Salzkammergut, nearby Swiss Dorfs and *OBERAMMERGAU* !!!!!

It’s $500 / night to rent a hotel room. The average Airbnb in Leavenworth is $350 / night.
But for $70-$125 / night you can rent an Airbnb around Cashmere, (20 minutes from Leavenworth).

I'm glad you liked it and were able to feel Christmas from my living room in America to yours in Korea.

undeniably beautiful. looks like some swiss alpine village at Christmas. You might want to consider visiting Frankenmuth Michigan especially during their ice sculpture contest. They also know how to celebrate Christmas.
