😄 I was there. Got the VHS somewhere. I can see me in the crowd at some point, between dj's. First and only visit to DMC championships. Went with three mates, one grew up with prime and the other two knew two other dj's on that night cos they were a couple from Brighton. The girl dj was on early and was good but I felt for her cos I could see her hands shaking from adrenalin and her boyfriend was blood one, remember his name cos he used gravediggaz for his name sample. " I circle like a shark when the fresh blood drips". Thanks for posting.
MrBonus88 I was DJing with the scratch perverts at the custard factory in brum and got the chance to tell this guy how sick this set was and how he was was robbed- he told we he literally was, as some fucker nicked his record box at this event!
holy shit i found it!! Thank u for putting this up! Prime cuts killed it with this routine. This routine was tight. shame it fell apart in the worlds. he wouldve made it to the finals
I went to this night at the Shephards Bush Empire all them years ago. The atmosphere was great, and you could tell Prime Cuts really wanted it. Vegas was bloody good too. There was also some dude defending Pogo's 97 title who gave them a real run for their money. Had the VHS, but long since lost it. Shame.
That other guy was DJ Excel, who I think was from Wales, and was once a member of Cutmaster Swift and Pogo's Enforcers crew. His '98 set was good, but you should see his '97 UK Final set., which was amazing. Well, part of it was amazing, because he did one routine that was unlike anything I've ever seen, even to this day, where he was cutting up a Moog sample with one hand, moving the fader with another hand, and tapping the other record with his elbow, all at the same time. Apparently DJ Pogo owns the only copy of that battle, which was held at a little club in Manchester, and I was there.
By the way, Excel created the Crab scratch, but he only used 2 fingers, and used to call it the "Twiddle". Q-bert saw him doing it at the '95 Vestax World Final, and later incorporated more fingers, calling it the Crab.
mad! so fast, so tight. that second last scratch is some crazy shit. If ambidextrous is regarding sides of the body I wonder what is the term for sides of the hand?
5:31 - Prime cuts serves the world an absolute gem. Next level back in the day! Love this set!
Still next level mate, ever seen anyone do this shit now?
That's the most accurate scratching i've ever seen !
Prime cuts was my reference to learn the art of scratching!.

Prime Cuts is a well oiled machine on this. Confident and deliberate.
this was one of the hardest technical sets I had ever seen heads and shoulders above the rest and executed perfectly my god what a set of hands
I think this is my all time favourite set EVER in the history of the dmc championships
Just wow 🤩.. still 25 years later ffs
Loved this set. I felt for him with all the skips he had at the worlds that year. Prime Cuts is hella dope! 🔥🔥🔥
Yeah he was so unlucky in the finals, would have smashed it otherwise
He did a lot of this stuff on the radio one scratch perverts/unkle set. Absolutely awesome.
Was wondering this as the unkle stuff was off the remix album wasn't sure if he used dmc routines in that or used what was made for that for dmc ?
@@djimma5080 probably a bit of both.
I remember being at this. Ah! fond memories.
thank you very much MR catchpsk !
