I am increasingly worried about this. In isolation, Calafiori and Merino are both good players, but despite their price tags, they have not improved us so far.
We'll always need rotation so these players are always good to get, but the summer was about bringing in game changers, for the tight games like City away and Bayern last season, we failed in that department
The lack of urgency in some occasions is so annoying. players always stick to the same plan even tho it is not working and the manager doesnt seem like he is worried about it. So poor in-game management.
Odegard usually drops in to fetch the ball from those two and then he sets up the attack. But recently he has only been passing short to Saka and not doing anything creative. Saka then drives into the box and does something. Now Saka is injured, odegard looks so lost and out of ideas. The only midfielder who has creativity enough to pass the ball to start an attack is jorginho but he isn't that great at it either recently.
@@alexcoyg3281 why are we buying squad players when the players that are starting right now can be made squad players by buying a better player? we will never win anything major excusing this merino signing.
He has been the worst buy we could have made. Especially for the money we spent on him. Very telling that he can't even get into the team when Kai and odergard are in such rubbish form.
I think that the coming summer is more an indication of the level of ambition within the club to succeed rather than this general transfer window. Doing business in this window word only be a temporary remedy to alleviate pressure from the fan base rather than ambitious planning for the future in my view. Considering the six points that were taken from us from the first five games when we played three out of five with 10 men due to red cards given for reasons that have not been applied to Liverpool or any other top six competitors, the difference in points is not a true reflection of our relative standing to the top of the lead table. If we as fans are bored with coming second it doesn’t mean from a business point of view and from a future planning point of view we are failing. I think I would reach the same levels of anxiety as I see many friends express now about the need for signings in Januaryif it happened that we didn’t secure top level signings in the striker position and in the left-wing position during the summer transfer window.
Arteta has clearly built the team from the back but I just don't think Arsenal had the finances to fork out for forward players. I honestly believe we're still 3 quality players away from being a real monster of a team, unfortunately those 3 players could cost £200m+
From day one even a couple of weeks prior to the first day of the season we never found our rhythm and its cost us in various ways. Nightmare but it will be over soon enough.
It is about the individuals. The collective is doing a decent job. But in the individual moments when Martinelli, Havertz needed to rise and give the group something, they couldn't. The group isn't perfect, but it's trying. 2nd in the league, good position in UCL. It's individuals up top that are letting the team down
Expectations are plaguing us !! Its still clear we are struggling with pressure, fatigue & something called sick but atleast those players are now coming back. Just wrote a few huge paragraphs on arteta and then deleted them as its probably for the best as it was all waffle, i just hoping we dont lose to utd if we do its pretty much season over. Make me laugh and say we are still in CL tho.
Declan Rice was a driving force was he? What does he actually do? He's supposed to be an 8 a so called box2box midfielder but NEVER creates anything from open play, doesnt shoot or score goals. Doesnt make runs into the box iff the ball. As a box2box midfielder that is his job. He is playing in the pockets for Arsenal football club amd its obvious he cannot do. Its laughable. Zero interchanging, He is so over rated and its very annoying. People talk about him playing the No.6. We have seen him play there for england and Arsenal on nunerous occasions, for years and he is not good there. Zubimendi is valued at half the money and is 10x a better footballer than Rice! FACT! Isak money has been wasted on Rice. And Rice is supposed to be the "game changer" waste of money for me.
God we need at least 3 players and a striker is essential we will see the ambition this club has in January a striker a winger that can play left and right wing and a creative midfielder and if I was greedy I would go for a lb.

That Isak chance is being overanalyzed. It was a tap in. He's just running hot. He's marginally better than Havertz- IF THAT. Our concerns lie with our 4th attacker- the man behind the attacking trio. Can he provide ball carrying to break defensive structures? Nope. Can he change the picture with passes which influence big spaces? Nope. Maybe once every year- Chelsea last season, Brighton the season before that. Can he make dynamic off the ball runs? Nope.
