Update for Hurricane names for no reason: 2019- Dorian to Dexter 2020 Laura to Leah 2020 Eta 2020 Iota The commitee agreed to not use Greek Alphabet for names and decided to use a supplemental list
Anyone know the specifics of how they will use the supplementary list? Will they move through it as needed, or will they start with the A name every season they exhaust the intended list?
Here's a fact about 1993 that I think is a bit peculiar: All the Atlantic Hurricanes that year were beaten in terms of pressure (though read: not wind!) by an extra-tropical low - the Braer Strom. I'm not sure how often that happens but the prospects of a non-tropical system being "deeper" than any Hurricane that forms in a given calendar year is something I doubt we'll be seeing again for a long time.
This season has some sentimental value to me because it was when I learned my at the time recently deceased grandmother's name was Wilma. Little did I know what would happen just 12 years later.
1993 and 2021 calendar-wise are very similar. Any historical events from 1993 fall on the same day as 2021 does. They are even positioned in the same area on the 28-year solar cycle.
@@MrGreenandPurple They all have one thing in common. They are all common years starting on Friday. I can't believe Isaias & Sally survived! I call BS on that.
Shocked to see that Isaias and Sally didn’t get retired. I thought at the very least they would retire Sally.
Me: How many times do you want to escape retirement?
Emily: Yes
Also hurricane Paul in 1982 escaped retirement by killing almost 2000 people as a tropical depression, before receiving a name.
And yet, Nate was retired in 2017, despite most of its damage being done while it was still Tropical Depression Sixteen.

1993, The 3rd and final inactive list 3 season, but it still was deadly with Bret Emily and Gert.
It would go from the most low key list (not a single named retired) to the most infamous over just two seasons and then just keep going.
