@@barbibutton9619 Selmar basically had a table saw and some hand tools, less than most hobbyists. Amaury will have a professional grade woodworking workshop.
@@barbibutton9619 Yes but it was a makeshift area without walls and subject to the weather and I doubt it had power. Not suitable for Amaury’s high quality and expensive equipment. And hopefully Selmar can have a spot there and a companion to work alongside. Selmar can still do some work in his current workshop such as hand sanding and polishing so he can enjoy the outdoors.
When they were discussing Amaury's workshop back in the UK they were standing in front of the table where Selmar restored the door for the downstairs Loo, and metal work. The outside area is for wood and they have discussed making furniture from it for the garden.
Amaury is a little less sentimental about all the "extra stuff," around the chateau. But now that there is more income and resources to fund projects Stephanie doesn't have to make things stretch so far. So 15 years of digging and scrimmage have finally paid off. Now when Isabel and Percy come back they'll see things restored, and I'm sure they won't mind not having to have done the work that you all did. Yeah for the chateau team!!!!!
Ah but Selmar is so good at salvaging items and putting them to good use! And it’s great to reuse items with a history. You only have to consider the furniture Stephanie has purchased at auction and at brocantes to utilise in the chateau. I know when I saw the old door go in the dump pile, I was thinking there’s a good historical style door lock and key on that. Could have been reused on one of the new apartments perhaps. And as they say, ‘look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves’!
I was thinking that some of those topless plastic containers could be used in the greenhouse and for animal food and water containers. Then, when they get too nasty, toss them..... (Don't judge me! My parents grew up during the depression! And, really, you never know when you might need something!)
Seeing a huge hoard, sorted and cleared was so enjoyable. I realize it’s hot and dirty work, but seeing everyone come together to really make a dent was great.

There are just so many exciting things going on at La Lande all the time it seems and I get excited every time I know a vlog is due to appear. You brighten my days with the sharing of yours.

It's nice to see that, instead of moving junk from room to room, as in prior years, it is actually being cleared out. I remember when you cleared out the attics, that you said it was so freeing to feel you could afford to discard all the "might be needed someday" junk. It's quite a truth! We just had old garden equipment, carpets and furniture hauled off (quite expensively) and it's so nice to have it gone. (And Amaury's frustration at the lack of focus is funny.)

My father has been gone 36 years and I still couldn't bear to give it up. I was only in my mid twenties when my father passed. I call it my comfort chair.i place to sit and have my tea or read.
Oh Amaury look after your back 😩 Good job, Stephanie for saying goodbye to so much. I know our heads can trick us with "but I could ... with that" and truthfully stuff just sits taking up mental, emotional and physical space. What a great team you guys were with this!
Kat. Your tenacity for getting things organized makes you a volunteer after my own heart. I once dreamed of starting a business to help people organize their spaces: work and home. The larger the home, the more rapidly my heart beats at the prospect of getting everything up to snuff (a home for every item and very little surplus). Big hug. Long time ago, I swore off of plastic storage, in favor of glass, metal and various clays. People tend to care better for them and so pieces aren't likely to be separated _and_ they don't accumulate as greatly as plastic. And as for leftovers, I was raised on them. I _do_ leftovers.
I was a professional organizer and yes, it can be very rewarding. If you decide to hang out your shingle, you might consider doing a bit of research. I’ve had wonderful clients who I have helped out dig out decades of overwhelming stuff. And I’ve had clients, despite hiring me, become angry or disoriented at the thought of parting with their piles of stuff. Surprising yes, but one must be armed with some knowledge of “hoarding” which is considered to be a psychological challenge. Good luck!

those keys are amazing. you could put them in a very pretty shadow box to preserve them. I actually had a slight obsessed with old antique keys just like those ones in that box. so you just made my inner child come out and thank you soo much.
🎉 Congratulations on the pea chicks 🎉
Oh yes it’s time to get your flannels and thermals out, Autumn has arrived 10 degrees cooler now. What great news, the pea chicks, and now safely in the walled garden. What a treat to share, this vlog showing so many achievements and LaLande team work at its best. Thank you all. WCL
It was wonderful. Thank you for sharing your life. I’ve never missed a single one!!
Oh my those lovely wee Chicks, I just love Cif what a great Mammy xx
Dear Sif and another brood! So very exciting! I hope they all survive.
Philip! Don’t lose the old key! If you lose that key, you’ll get no newkey!😂😂😂
Wow this should be good, nothing like a good organization spree to discover new possibilities xx
OH how exciting!!! those babies are so sweet!!! So happy you have them. His cheese cake looks so delicious!
That cemetary key looks like a key to a crypt. Were the previous owners’ family members buried there in a crypt. It is so exciting to see the room uncovered. Great job everyone.
A vlog going into the crypt for Halloween please 😁🎃
This is my favorite videooo!!! Hahahahaaaa... say goodbye to the MESS!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Wow Stephanie, your Cousin has a degree in a lot of things, makes my attention and curiosity go sky high to see what he is going to do!!!! Awesome, I am watching this video, by golly😊😊😊
When Cat called Hey Siri, mine responded!
Absolutely loved this, I was in tears when I saw the pea chicks and loved the joint evacuation to the walled garden, good thinking Dan. X Lady Di
Second visit to this vlog. It is thrilling to see the “room” sorted. Yay all!
Epic clean out! LOL when Stephanie and Kat debated the fate of the first item and Amaury asked if this is how the next 6 hours was going to be... No wonder he does such fine woodworking. It takes great patience and he obviously has plenty! Fingers crossed for the pea chicks.
it was Selmars work area too. I bet he is loving the clearing up of the work space.
This was such a great vlog! So many wonderful things happened. Stephanie looks so happy. 🥰
Your cousin is a power house of change. He should’ve been your resident carpenter since the beginning.
He has a business in the UK and the project will continue till Christmas. He is restoring the panels but has to strip the walls and insulate first. Ian and Selmar will be in the mix as well I am sure.😁
I’m aware of his purpose but he’s such a diligent worker
So many people saying the same things I feel! I love all of you and I am so very thankful you share your lives with us!!!!
What a wonderful day with the surprise of the peachicks! So happy for you all 🤗
Who would have thought I could derive so much enjoyment watching other people do a clean out? ❤️
So happy to see the new pea chicks and Marie too.
Oh!!!! I'm well pumped for this, Totally excited to see an attic organize clean up!😍⚡🔥🎉🧡
Its not an attic its one of the rooms off the 2nd courtyard
