  • My dad and I got an old hay elevator off of craigslist and converted it into a wood conveyor for firewood.
UPDATE: Upgraded the bearings and installed a larger drive pulley for more SPEED.

mine had variable speed pulley on motor so i was able to 2x the speed without buying a new pulley. but i slowed it back down because it was a ton of wear on the drive line as you only need enough speed to keep up with your splitter.

Nice, just got a second conveyor this year as this one had a mishap and damaged a few links. New one is a flat 12" wide belt, no ribs but works ok for continuous splitting. I use the big one in the video to load my dump truck still since it is faster. Was able to find the links online and repaired them. All of the links are showing wear but they should last a few more seasons since I no longer run this one for hours on end.

Nice, I've been thinking of trying exactly this with the same kind of elevator. Guess this proves it'll work! Thanks for being a guinea pig, lol!

yeah the links should last many years id think. obviously will wear more the faster they run though.

One question, what HP is your electric motor on that elevator? Thanks
