  • Wanjira Mathai, the vice president and regional director for Africa at the World Resources Institute, presents the keynote address for the World Summit of Educators.
“The world seems to be defined by three words these days: Uncertainty, Inequity and Urgency. But however we choose to shape this narrative, we must start with the idea that people, resilience and shared prosperity must be at the heart of how we build forward better from the disruptions we’ve faced. This really is a once-in-a-century reset that calls for new forms of global citizenship and solidarity.”
The World Summit of Educators is an international gathering of rank-and-file educators dedicated to the establishment, through education, of peace, human rights, and the sanctity of life as universal norms, the WSE takes its inspiration from a talk delivered by Soka University of America founder Daisaku Ikeda in 1996 Teachers College, Columbia entitled “Thoughts on Education for Global Citizenship,” in which he called for such a summit.
