I have the exact same model laptop. Tried everything you said, and still doesn't work. Even tried removing and reseating RAM and hard dive card. My problem started happening after closing the lid without formally shutting down the laptop. Since then, the laptop won't power back up.

This fix worked. I have a HP Elitebook 840 G3 i5-6300U that was not powering up. This condition occurred after the laptop sat unused for 3 weeks. Adapter has power. The adapter was plugged in for 2 hours and still not powering up.

Hey i have the same laptop with no battery inside but it doesnt turn on even after holding the power button for 2 minutes. The only thing that happens is that when i put the charger on the laptop the power button lights up for 1second but nothing happens when i try to boot it up. If u can help me pls i beg u and thanks

Sorry, wish I could have helped. This was the first thing I found when trying to fix mine.
It happened to mine also, what worked for me is running a hair dryer at the back of the unit on the motherboard. This gets rid of the humidity at the same time warming up the motherboard. Mine started malfunctioning when our rainy season started, our weather became very humid. I tried the resetting with the power button without the battery but didn't work. It worked fine before during our summer dry months, so I had a gut feel that it was because of the humid weather. Just the same, take out the back cover and remove the battery, then run the dryer all over the motherboard a few minutes then reinstall the battery. It turned on immediately then I don't shut down the unit just put it in sleep mode which generates a little heat then it was fine running everyday I wake it. 😁👌

Hey, how about fan noise
If it is just a matter of the fan turning on more often than usual it could be that the CPU is overheating too much. It could be under too much load. It also may need the thermal paste replaced if it is getting old. If the fan is louder than it usually is it might need cleaning or replacing.
I have a 840 g3 laptop that won't power on the moment I input the battery, but if I remove the battery and leave it for two days the system works normally. What could be the problem

The laptop is powering but the screen is not opening.
Force off for 15 seconds, remove charger/battery, hold power again 15 secs to drain capacitors, replace mains and power on, if fails then repeat 3 or 4 times and it 'should' fix itself with auto repair by restoring a safe boot mode... worked for me last week byt not now... watched videos for a better fix but can't find.

Hold the power button for a minute while the battery is out. Then try adding it back and starting. If that doesn't work it is probably a different problem.
