    I love this bass! For all skeptics right away: this is NOT a toy. I use the bass on folk with acoustic guitars and it sounds wonderful. Smooth and rich, almost "smacking", similar to an upright bass. A real addition to my collection, I would never have thought!

      for upright bass players this type of basses is a miracle. especially for rehearsals.

    Ooh yea Uke bass 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽 oooh those big rubbery strings seem to just sing.
    I’d like to hear that with some distortion mixed in 🤘🏽. Definitely the mohog top for me.

      @@HarleyBentonOfficial bad idea, if you want to use it with rubber Aquila strings, really=) But with steel-wound strings - it sounds like usual acoustic bass. But - you need to cover soundhole to prevent feedback in this case.

    Bass ukes are great little low enders, but the rubber strings are garbage! They are just too LOOSE, & floppy to get good, tight sound, along with the intonation because the strings are TOO soft!

    • @hellsq
      @hellsq 3 роки тому +4

      its just this type of strings, for this kind of sound. and yes, usual bass guitar technique didint work with this u-bass - you must spent some hours to get used to this strings.
      If you want more "classic acoustic bass sound" - try to put steel-wound strings for u-bass (Kala and Pyramid make them, you can buy it on Thoman). I have Pyramid steel-wound u-bass strings set, but I have realised that Aqula strings fits better in music that I play.

      @@hellsq Yeah i know all this! I worked 8 years in music retail, and we sold Mahalo ukes, inc bass models similar to these Bentons, with the silcone rubber strings! I found the D & G strings had sufficient tension, but the E & A just too loose to work properly! A higher guage would fix a lot of this! Harasho Nikolai!

    • @hellsq
      @hellsq 3 роки тому +2

      @@DMSProduktions double basses with synthetic gut strings have exactly same problems. Higher gauge cant fix this properly (as for my DB experience with this strings). Rubber strings with steel core can (like Weed Wackers DB strings) , but u-bass have too short scale for this type of strings.

    Nice bass (very-very cheap but with some issues - like most of HBs, sorry), but bad demo.
    First, you must to get used to this kind of strings and pickup to get rid of this clicky percussive finger sound. Less nails on strings, or no nails at all. Thumb picking works well and gives you nice sound without percussion.
    And if you want to tell people how great this thing can be - take a minute for steel-wound strings demonstration. Pyramid or Kala steel strings are great option for people who dont want this mellow double-bass-like sound and wont more sparky and bright acoustic bass-like sound. I tried to put Pyramid set on my HB Kahuna bass - they sounded really awesome (but I put Aquila back just because they fits better to jazz and folk music that I usually play).

      Hey is it easy to change string on this u bass ? Never had one before and was thinking of buying one, have a great day

    • @hellsq
      @hellsq 3 роки тому

      @@mikehawk1372 Hello! U-basses usually have Aquila or Kala synthetic strings "right out the box". They are like synthetic gut double bass strings - lasts for years and you need to replace them only if you damage them somehow accidentally. But you can change synthetic/plastic strings to steel wound u-bass strings (like Pyramid or Kala KA-BASS 4). It is a little bit tricky comparing to acoustic guitar or electric bass strings change, but nothing serious. Just read the instructions and dont throw away little washers that came with steel wound u-bass strings - you will need them.
