The light melody is the cat. The almost industrial sounding, "crushing" noises and howls of wind in the background is the wall and all the victims trapped inside it. It's almost as if the cat is your subconsciousness trying to keep you sane during periods of turmoil, which are represented by the wall.
The wall is represented by the violent percussions, and the cat by sweet melody. Notice how the percussion starts first, because the character is overwhelmed by the wall, but then remembers the cats sayings and continues forward

my own theory about the origin of specimen 7: the cat could have died from car crash and it could be spookys pet so her father decided to bring her cat back to life after bringing her back she was normal looking but she can talk and can transform into wall of flesh
This should have been the final specimen. like RIGHT at the end though. Imagine you get to room 999, and find the cat and the clock room. You go through the wall of flesh chase, and arrive right at the area before the specimen 9 fight. That would be fucking awesome
My favorite song of the game. Room 410 was definitely my favorite encounter as well; and although I was scared walking up to the door to begin the chase sequence, the moment this music started playing, all fear went away and was replaced with determination!
