Iv always meant to ask. Do you pre drill the holes for the screws or just drive them in? It’s been a while since I’ve seen this video 😂 still an awesome project. Happy New Year to you and the family as well. 🤝👍

Pretty cool! It inspired me to re-write a bit of a song from some lads from around there
    I'd like to be
    woodturned, you see,
    In Nick Zametti's Workshop
    In the U.K.
    He'd use resin
    Seal us all in
    In Nick Zametti's workshop
    In the U.K.
    All of my friends
    Are here with me
    Cast in resin
    For eternity!
With apologies to The Beatles ;)

If you put a roughed out bowl blank on top of the seaweed before you pour, the wood will fill the void that normally gets a ton of resin.... That gets turned away. It saves resin, therefore saves your wallet, and makes less plastic mess. Cool piece, it definitely looks funky. Just seems a waste of material to turn that huge solid block of resin. I'd personally like to see you do more wood projects, and maybe some other items besides just bowls. Maybe some smaller spindle projects? Anyway, keep it up, you're always fun to watch! Big ups from Upstate NY ❤️💛💚

I like it! I wonder, would adding a bit of gold coloring into the mix add to the finished bowl make it pop?? Things that make you go, hmmmmmmmm. Keep on keeping on Nick! As always, love your work.

Dude, you should build a little backdrop in the shop to frame the projects when they are done. This looks so cool, but some of the detail in the swirls of seaweed were a bit lost against the brown background of the table. Just some spot where you have a drape of cloth and a light would work!
Love this bowl. I miss the ocean.

something that may look neat, use the seaweed, but layer a few together and roll them up like a swiss roll. do this multiple times and put them in a cylinder to turn into a lamp. it could be like a swirly van gogh moment.

I have an idea; what if you did THIS but used clear rhinestones of different colors. Polimers similar to the resins you use so that you blades will cut through them as the resin. Then what you have left is a bowl? with different colored faceted gems. As you turn it, you will see the light through the gems sparkling. Plausible?

  • @SirBarth

This is amazing to look at! I wouldn't have known it was seaweed in there. Just out of curiosity, was there a kind of "I wonder what this would do?" thought to turning the seaweed, or did someone ask "Hey, what would happen if you did this."?
I love your channels, thanks Nick!
