  • Another awesome day on the Columbia. 28 smallmouth with three of 3lbs or better (twin 3lb 2oz, 18.5" were my best). Best 5 weighed 13lb 15oz and totaled 88.25". Not a monster day but still a lot of fun. Lots of 2+lb bass on the day.
26 of the 28 bass came on the drop shot. I kept trying other presentations but that is what they wanted.

I am wondering if you can do salmon fishing using this set up on columbia, have you thought about or tried it before?

I don't fish for salmon but I would imagine that you could try something like this, perhaps with the hook connected to the line with a swivel and a plug cut herring as the bait. I think it would be very similar to mooching except the weight would be below the bait instead of above it.

So many good places. Closest is the Willamette river. The upper and lower rivers are both loaded. Every boat ramp has plenty of rocky structure near them. The Columbia has fewer fish but better quality. I like to launch at Stevenson, WA but once again any place you can launch will have tons of fishable water.
