His NWA Title win over Nick Aldis and his entrance before that listening to that song, it was powerful. But now that he's back in WWE USING that same song, it feels bastardized to me. But he understood that he IS someone of value, regardless of whether he wanted to be or not (I say this because he talks about how there was an extended time when he didn't even WANT to be a Rhodes, because he believed it put a stamp on him that he didn't really want, or as he later realized wasn't ready for) The song isn't really a middle finger to WWE specifically. It was a middle finger to EVERYTHING. And now that he is back, it's really a middle finger to his past, and how he is stomping it out to make room for his future 💯

Also, Cody is a PG Babyface, which AEW has some, but he is literally the closest thing to John Cena since Roman Reigns when it came to how artificial his Babyface character was. But I do think he does fit well in WWE, but that's mainly due to it being PG, his character being a lot like Cena's, and because WWE fans haven't SEEN this version of Cody if they weren't watching ROH, NJPW, Impact, or AEW in the last 6-7 years before he came back to WWE. So he got that freshness to the WWE audience, but hardcore fans like myself have seen Cody be this somewhat 1 Dimensional baby face since 2018 and got sick of it, which is why AEW fans started to boo him. No hate towards Cody, but he just was getting too repetitive in AEW, especially with his promos.

It took so long because Cody never sold it. The NJPW guys sell the things they want the crowd to yell lol. As soon as Cody started selling it, the crowd reacted. They don't call wrestling fans dumb, they call them the opposite lol.
