We have logged long road trips in both the out-going etron 55 and the new Q8 eTron 55. Our bio-breaks generally take long enough that the car is almost done or done charging when we return to the car. The general population is not racing when on a road trip. In otherwords there is a charging speed where performing faster doesn't matter for most road-trippers.
Thank you for this great review. Where you able to figure out why it wasn’t showing what you needed on the center screen? It seemed to be showing on instrument panel but not the charging station.
I think these range test should be taken with a grain of salt. With my Volvo C40 I have seen 164Wh/km - 200 Wh/km during summer driving the same route of 66,5km. EV's are very sensitive to temperature and you have to drive the same route several times to establish a baseline of consumption. As a rule you drive most economical if outside temperature match the cabin temperature. That's where AC draw the least current from system.
That’s true. Lots of factors affect the result. These are always mentioned. Ideally you would need a reference car that always follows the car that’s tested. Even then, the settings, wheels/tires, charging strategy etc. might not be optimal. I still think it’s still interesting to see how the cars perform. 🙂 And the genius thing about this test, is that Kris ranks the cars by charging time. Not total time.
Anyone else find it interesting that Kris has never tested a BMW product. He continually ignores the IX which is an better vehicle than the Fat Etron/Q8 and easily a match for the EQE!
Although I am biased towards what Audi and BMW are doing with their interfaces, I feel Mercedes missed a chance to revamp their user interface with the EQ-series. It still feels like a mess, even though their cars might be excellent.
@@fmsantoscar The fact that you are pointing toward a 10-year-old interface at Audi clearly indicates you missed what I meant by my statement. I never said the old BMW/Audi interfaces were terrible/good/excellent, but they have worked on it in their latest cars (especially EV). I feel Mercedes could have done better based on the video above.
@@MasterChief37 Or iX1.. 🙂Anyways, I think cars that cost this much, are almost irrelevant. So, spare me a review of the i7.. Even the Volvo EX90 is a steal compared to the EQE SUV.
@@omelvold I couldn’t agree more, I’m sure he could get some growth in his channel if he stopped reviewing the same manufacturers constantly, there’s other EV’s from multiple manufacturers he hasn’t touched. I noticed he’s started flashing his (new) Rolex, it’s appeared in so many videos.
@@MasterChief37 I don’t care to much about Chris’ personal choices. 🙂 I just think reviewers in general should pay more attention to the price of the test vehicle.

Thanks! Would you say the difference on range is small enough to ignore between the two models (Q8 50 and EQE 350 4matic)

The IX is an horrendous monstrosity
The bummer thing is, the rims on this EQE (they're 22") is only available on the AMG version.
Can you test a ModelX new Longrange?

MBUX easily beats the old fashioned Audi interface that hasn’t been updated in almost a decade.

I still think that this car is too expensive compared to Q8 and iX.
You won’t hear Kris say that. For a start it appears to me that BMW won’t allow him test there vehicles, he hasn’t tested an I3, IX3, I4, IX or I7.

@@MasterChief37BMW EVs are terrible. Literally they’re mostly ICE cars with a battery. The IX is a monstrosity and happy he’s ignored it.
Awful music.
The worst car I bought to date with all aspects, such as value of money, luxury, range, smart functionality, connectivity, support ... etc
Not a Audi beater lol
Not an IX beater either.
@@MasterChief37beats easily both of those POS. Heavy monstrosities with an horrendous Cd coefficient
@@fmsantoscar I doubt you’re ever driven an EQE SUV or an iX for that matter.
The iX and EQE SUV have identical drag coefficients 0.25.
@@MasterChief37 LOL I own an EQE SUV. The IX is a brick with wheels.
@@fmsantoscar LOL sure you do.
