Is it posible to make an anime using a game engine?
Some of you were interested to see the test animation I made with Link in anime style so here it is! Is it posible to use a game engine to make an anime?
This rough test animation was made during the 10 days break I took while working on my Kokiri Forest video in Septembre 2022. It was a quick R&D and I really liked the result even if it's not perfect! I will explore this style again later in the second half of this year. Hope you enjoyed this test animation!

Hi everyone! Is it posible to use a game engine to make an anime? Some of you were interested to see the test animation I made with Link in anime style so here it is!
This rough test animation was made during the 10 days break I took while working on my Kokiri Forest video in Septembre 2022. It was a quick R&D and I really liked the result. I have a suggestion, if you wanna make another video like this. Make a video of Link and Zelda dancing in the Kokiri forest or at the castle or where ever you'd like to place them, that way you can experiment with a wider array of elements for such a video

Yeah I was thinking about this exact thing the other day, and I think something in the style of the Castlevania Netflix show would work better for Zelda than live action

It feels like we're seeing Unreal's real potential after DBFZ to create very stylized anime-like games in this way! It's really amazing to think about it in my opinion.
Also, it can save a lot of time and resources in creating games this way. As well as freeing a lot of performance for a lot of PCs, after looking at Hi-Fi Rush for example.

Not bad. I definitely enjoyed it. The only thing that got me was the eyes. At least when you view his face from the front. To me they seem a little far apart. Besides that again I enjoyed it. Good job.

From the front camera view Link's eye seem a bit too seperated from eachother, but otherwise it looks super smooth and nice.

I feel like this is more like flash back quality of animation vs true art style and form that an anime would be using for full episodes, that being said it can take a literal year to draw that sort of thing so I under the quality difference, all in all great job.

This looks almost hand drawn anime because of frame skipping, you should make another short anime like this. Apart from Arc Work systems you pulled this of better then most cel shading animes.
Now make a saving Marin from being trapped as a seagull forever movie !

It is amazing, but as a big fun of OoT I would like to point the expression of his eyes. It is not the best, it could be better. You can make him look more angry when he swings the sword, showing that he is using a lot of power.

How does someone get started in creating things like this? From the very basics? creating these types of videos and games is fascinating to me..
in my opinion this link with the lighting, cell shading, and a tad on the face makes him a little derpy
I know you are probably using a model but just some anatomy knowledge (if you’re able to change it.) the eyes look like goldfish. The space between the eyes is awkwardly wide. The gap should be about 1 eye length.

The animation is great, just the only thing I think you should work on is the eyes. They look way too cross eyed most the time.
