I'm a little late, but the United States and Canada are part of an organization called "NORAD". The purpose of this is to allow for US and Canadian protection from nuclear missiles. Canada and the US share intel and land for missile defenses and launches. This has been the case since the 1960s!

Those air defense systems are posted up in all the countries surrounding Russia, as well as the US. ALL of Russia's missiles would most likely be shot down over their own country. The ONLY strategic launch points that Russia has, is their nuclear submarines; of which not many are armed with nuclear missiles. It should be stated that the US tracks all Russian submarines at all times, and very rarely do we not know their locations. Russia could not win. The US is way too well defended, and the US' defenses litterally surround Russia.
