This is the first time I have ever noticed a sense of humor in your videos. Nice!
Glad to hear it!
Great job. I’m Loving these long videos with full builds.
The amount of times you said the following in this video is staggering:
• this is one of my favorite tools ever
• if you do cabinetry and I can recommend only one tool, it’s this one
Haha - everything can’t be the best bro! 🤣. great video - thanks for the details!!!
It can be lol
that's a great sticker on your dust collection pipe
What a great video! Didn't feel like an hour because you covered so much and added some nice humour. Thanks for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Fantastic job on the island. The video is not too long. It's very enjoyable to watch. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
Very nice work! I can't believe how much money you have tied up in high quality tools just to do work for yourself. Very inspirational to say the least.
I enjoy using nice tools and creating with tools I love. 👍
Great job like the video very much thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
Fantastic build, Jason~! Really makes me want to do projects like this in our house. Inspirational~! Thanks for sharing it.
This video is fantastic. The casual nature of the voice over gives this a personal feel. And, I will be looking for an excuse to use Flushtek.
Glad it was helpful!
After breaking the edges with cubitron, I was able to hold my laugh but then you had to throw in there “there wasn’t any meat left” 😂
Cant wait to see the rest of the kitchen done that will be a huge change!
Looks like you’re well practiced breaking those sharp edges 😂. Great video!
🤣
Simply beautiful job mate.
I would have loved to have seen you use the same drawer handles on the front mounted vertically instead of the round cupboard pullers, but still looks amazing, great job, and thanks for sharing so much detail!
Thanks 👍
Love watching all you guys videos and I'm now a Festool attic also. The one thing I want the most they don't make anymore and I can't understand why not. It's the suction Vac system that seems to be in ever UA-cam shop on here. Sure wish Festool would wake up and bring them back to the states.
Fantastic details. Thorough video. Compliments your other cabinet compilation video. Amazing work as usual.
Thank you very much!
Thanks for sharing this Jason! Love it! It makes me want to do some cabinet work myself and yes I'm on the hunt for a slider..lol
Gotta love the Lamello Tenso's. I just used them on a one piece face frame for several cabinets so there were no seams. As long as you lay them out corrctly, it's like magic when you "snap" them on.
Incredible work, Great video
Thank you very much!
Beautiful work!!
Thank you very much!
Another great video. I like this new style you’re using.
Awesome, enjoyed the video and the length.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hmm, now to tackle the 80's oak cabinets in background. I have the exact same ones, want them? lol
No, we will be redoing the whole kitchen
Small tip for using the silder: when you use the rip fence it's recommended not to butt the piece on the crosscut fence because there's risk of kickback
The warnings about that kind of flooring (high mineral impregnated LVP type) are true. I put in a similar floor (1100 square feet) in 2020 and I use an electric mobility scooter (yea, put it in solo during lockdown in summer 2020). Anywhere that is relatively high traffic (i.e. galley kitchen) is completely cracked, chipped and destroyed. Be careful with that stuff. I've since discovered its the nature of the material. I need to replace everything and not stoked about it.
Looks beautiful.
you've did an amazing job!
Very impressive.
Thank you very much!
Fantastic island , Jason.👌🏽
Well done, it looks great
You do excellent work❤
beautiful. enough said
16:48, you're so right!
Salice F70, are the best slides I have ever used and I also use saline hinges, I have found they're the best.
What a fantastic progress from your first video. I enjoyed seeing the evolution of your channel. Thanks for sharing. 😊 P.S. My wife is not a big fan, as your channel has increased my tool budget at an order of magnitude. 🤪
😂 I get that a lot
I LOVE the new voiceovers. Big improvement. Plus your sense of humor shines.
Very nicely done. Why didn't you use pop-up outlets, that could be installed to be pretty much invisible..
a slat feature like that in joinery could be a great way to hide a return air vent for your AC
I'm so glad to hear your router bits chattering so loudly... I thought I could just NEVER FIND a decent bit
I guess I could ‘justify’ a sliding table saw by getting rid of the miter saw. lol.. Hey Honey, I am saving us money.
Nice watches
Hi Bent. I was just watching your video and you were praising your quickshot again. You said that it was really good on clear finishes; does that just mean stuff like polyurethane, or does that include things like lacquer and shellac and what not? My only hesitancy about getting the quickshot is that it’s battery operated, which isn’t necessarily something I want because I only use one platform and don’t want to get another battery and charger. That being said, I am interested in how good the thing is and might still bite the bullet over an HVLP system. Thank you and your videos are extremely informative. I am officially switching to metric this year because of you. I’m so excited!
I haven’t tried shellac or lacquer so it’s hard for me to say.
Having a crawl space is so much easier
lol favorite part of this video " Yeah cause I'm not a psychopath " hahahahz
Looks like festool cyclone needs emptying 😂
There are two kinds of countries on this planet: those who use the metric system, and those who flew to the moon using the metric system whilst inexplicably still teaching the imperial system to high school students. 😁
Yeah, that’s not accurate. At all.
@@silverbackag9790I thought nasa were moving to metric after some accident they had with converting between metric and imperial
There is a third type Canada. Which technically is a metric system country but uses old school imperial in random situations we all unspokenly agree upon. With the exception of distance which is measured in the time it takes to travel it. Not sure how this happened.
Nobody's ever been to the moon
Is there a link for the dust collection adapter that was used for the Kreg hing jig? I didn't see one in the description.
Check out Rab Tools. I believe he has an Etsy
@@bentswoodworking Thanks, Jason! Appreciate you!
Brought to you by festool
Can't one use a plunge router (with a drill bit instead of a router bit) to drill holes perfectly perpendicular to the surface that the routers base plate rests on?
Now it's time to replace those DATED cabinet doors.
For what? Boring overused plain shaker?
Looks like a vent grill

Dude very nice outstanding job..... I am ashamed to say but I am jealous of all the high-end tools.... We poor woodworkers in the garage don't have the luxury of what you have to make a fine island... Now that the green monster is off my back... Keep making great stuff...
Baltic Birch for a kitchen island?! Which lottery did you win?? Haha
I really do not think you have to cut the newer LVP flooring out any more. I know they say you should, but I did not and after 4 years mine has not even hinted that it tried to buckle. I know though of some nightmares on some of the earlier vinyl flooring that did.
I see you stapled your kicks together not nailed . Any reason why. And did you consider heights of the finished counter.. I’m doing a similar build But it’s a walk up bar cabinet set with a undermount sink… i always think it should be a little taller than the usual 36
I cannot find the pull-out shelf slides anywhere (Salice Shelf F70). Where do you get them? Every supplier I've checked only lists the F70 drawer slide not the shelf slide. I'm working on 2 different projects with pull-out shelves and they would be perfect!
Very high-speed! Most hooah! @51:17 But the problem is....When's the video coming out of you replacing all the cabinets in the kitchen with that wonder white oak ply I think she's going to ask you to ....no? :)
Oh it’s happening lol
Only question I would have is why didn't you use a ground fault plug for the electrical? Great job an I do get a lot of good ideas watching your videos.
He most likely has a GFCI circuit breaker in his electrical breaker box. Since he his far enough away from a water supply he doesn’t need it also at the outlet. Of course it matters with local code, but that his how mine is also. I have them by the sink that is in the counter top area, but not on the island.
As of Jan 1, under counter outlets on islands are a code violation in most places. I know, stupid, but the new standard will be pop-up outlets in the counter tops and will be code in most places.
Also island receptacles will be not required, but provisions must be in place for future.
Why cabinet doors with pull out shelves? Why not install only drawers so just pull out instead of open cabinet doors and pull out? I've abandon all base cabinet doors. Beautiful piece. Thanks for sharing you knowledge. I've learned a lot from watch your videos.
I believe the slide out shelves are being used for small appliances. They wouldn't fit into a drawer and be more difficult to lift out.
Great video! Would you mind sharing a link to the saliche pullout slides?
That's a gorgeous island Jason. One question on Salices - do they have the same stiffeners or whatever they are called to stop side to side racking on wider drawers / shelves that Blum offers? Seems like a very very solid alternative in general. Same jigs for the clips and the rear?
I didn’t need any rods for them
Which kind of sprayer is that?
You're in Brownsburg?? I lived in Zionsville till a year ago. Small world.
Avon
Sanding question…
What justifies the use of the Rotex vs the EQS?
Love the video but PLEASE start decreasing the volume of the tools while you are doing voice overs. Watching these with a baby in the room means I have to keep turning it off unfortunately. But also audio quality on background during voiceovers is something the great content creators do really well and I’d say you are well on your way to being a great content creator.
What brand countersink are you using?
Festool
How much area does the slide portion of you saw take up?
Beautiful piece; did you use the Shaper Origin on this build?
I did not
outlets should not be on the side as cords hang down and cause injuries, kids have caught slow cooker cords and burned themselves, far better to install a pop up outlet on the top
Which marking knife do you use? Thx
One I got from Katz Moses
Who stands with their toes in the toe-kick? How about someone who is 6'-5" tall. weighs 225, and has size 13 feet/shoes? The main problem for me though is the height of the work surface., and the "stand-off" this creates.
I would love to get one of the those dust extractors for my Kreg hinge jig. Can you give us the contact info?
I'm curious how you afford all that super expensive equipment. It'd take me years to get all that stuff on my army pension.
Love the island and receptacle. Much cheaper than trufig. Unfortunately, it is now against electrical code to have receptacles on the side of a kitchen island and must be installed in the countertop.
Great video as always , its a shame you have to defend everything you do.
Second 👍🏝️🇨🇦
Why would they run a bead of silicone on outside perimeter? Seems a bit unnecessary and just leaves a messy look. These subcontractors sometimes do not have a finishing mindset.
Thanks for sharing, awesome content. For the love of all things, please stop with the metric vs imperial. It’s nonsensical.
You don't do anything for other people? You just create content?
Correct
Loved it Man!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Your welcome@@bentswoodworking
Fantastic Island, my friend! Very well done. Loving the new voice over format as well! So much more personal and let's your sense of humor and thought process come through! Keep on doing what you do!
Hey Al. Can you post a link to your adapter? I will pin the comment. Many are asking
Great video and awesome work. Funny you say "can't hide money," while you built the island wearing a circa 2000's Omega Speedmaster, a Submariner, an AP Royal Oak, heck even a Seiko on rubber 😅 and lets not forgot your workshop is more than some people's cars.
Anywho I'm looking to buid out my entire kitchen so the rabbit hole brought me here and your festool FS saw walk through.
I wish I had a speedmaster or royal oak. Those are Seiko Mod watches that you saw.
Great video nice work. Pro tip 40 years in. Always shim end panels level, before scribing. The more you know.
very nice island buddy! Good work!
Good video Jason, thanks. 2 questions. What degree plate were you using on the router to trim the edge banding? Would you recommend using the Domino 500 support at the 3:51 minute mark? I wonder if that might have contributed to the issue you had? Thanks for your time.
Ron
Great island, great video. I heard your points of not using the adjustable feet in the video, but I am curious if they would have even been ok to use in this application anyhow, because I read a single comment one time about the fact the could wobble/break off in an island that isn't wall supported because they aren't great with shear strength. Does anyone know if this is true?
Sweet. We have the same toaster. How are you liking it? It’s also featured on so many movie sets. And now that you know that, you will be looking at every kitchen in movies and tv shows to see if they are using that same toaster. Either way awesome toaster. Oh and nice cabinets also.
Very nice cabinets, the electrical wire, should have been MC wire, not romex wire
Great video as usual. What thickness edge banding do you use? And do you have a good source for it? I’ve used the thin iron on stuff but it looks a bit cheesy for nice doors.
Very nice island the end looks so good the only nerdy thing i noticed is why not move it 2 cm to the left to hide the little piece of floor on the left 😊
Man, that island looks SHARP! Your whole approach to builds has really gotten me to think in a new way. You are very methodical and your process seems very easy to follow. Keep up the good work. By the way, I am really enjoying the green suitors podcast.
Awesome, thank you!
That inset power outlet looks so good. Do they have a line of products? Also, that islander looks to be the start of the rest of the kitchen changeover. Good luck!
Oh the rest of the kitchen is coming
Great video. I really gotta get me one of those sprayers. I just start drooling every time you bring that out.
I do have the 1/16" roundover. I use it ALL the time!
When i do my cabinets in the shop I am definitely building my toe kick separately. I installed two Ikea cabinets side by side for my dump sink (didn't have the time to build them myself). They had those great leveling feet... right? WRONG! It sucked. And that was two small cabinets. I can't imagine doing a longer bank.
"Can't hide money." 🤣🤣🤣
Looks great!
🤣
That sprayer is the Graco QuickShot and it is fantastic, though pricey. And he is correct, it will spray heavy body paints, such as the Renner, and clears without any problem.
Why is 3M Cubitron fantastic? I bought some and it detaches from my Festool sanders constantly
That’s probably the 710W mesh. You need the protection pad for that paper
@@bentswoodworking thanks! I’ll look into this
Nice work
That grain matching is really nice looking!
Thanks 👍
“That really doesn’t look good but I’m just breaking up the soft edges. Hmm.” Hahaahhahahahah
I understand the Festool vacuum hold down is no longer in production. Is there any alternative to that, or is Festool coming out with another one. Anyone?
