So, from what I understand: Atticus was trying to save the island from the volcano and cast a spell to transport the island to safety, albeit a dangerous spell that may endanger everyone just as much. The one that was hit on the head is unaffected by the spell to a limited degree and thus can see the fact that this spell is dangerous and is freaking out whilst everyone else has totally accepted it and is unaware.

I think uprooted means that the island was uprooted, it seems it was teleported somewhere else for safety, as done by the spell that was casted.

ok ima try to make sense of this because this story is cool
so it looks atticus can do magic, and casted some magic in an attempt to save the island from the volcano. however, either the magic went wrong or maybe it was intended, but the island got transported to some staticy void. it seems a side effect of the magic is that everyone is under some kind of spell that makes them think everything is fine. however, since allia was unconscious, the spell didn't work on her and she's the only one who can actually see the void they're in. (not sure why the spell only half works on anik though?) it looks like another side effect of the magic was that it killed atticus, or at least made him into some staticy black creature which i'm assuming the spell blocks out too.

Uprooted is probably one of my favorites of yours. I love the concept that only one character knows everything will go wrong, but everyone else shrugs it off and keeps going along with their daily activities.

@accountdeletionpending I have a similar perspective So i think that Atticus was casting a spell to try and put a barrier around the island not realizing that it could cause a corruption or something more dangerous made the barrier and started getting corrupted.
