Hi from Canada. I’m in my 50s, experienced rider, currently riding a 1300cc Stryker. I’m 185cm; is the 400x too small for me? How tall are you if you don’t mind me asking?
hurry Triumph and get this in the UK shops people are waiting and what is the news if any on a 250cc if you sell that for sub £3K you flood the market,
@TriumphIndia please open a showroom in Calicut! Just 1 showroom in Kerala (Kochi) doesn't cut it! There are soooo many bikers and Triumph-lovers just waiting to get our hands on this one! 😭😭😭
In my opinion ,spoke wheels may reduce some more weight ,some more suspension travel with, altering adjusting and narrowing seat and body frame for shorter rider and height riders for both type of riders it may help ..just an opinion ....
Puncture shops around out city refuse to touch tube spoked rims if there's a puncture. However, the body frame and the narrow seat aren't connected to wheels. Also, suspension travel is the suspension's job. Hope this helps.
So called mild offroad, any bike can do. Why this bike? I own speed 400 and took it for real off roading. Except tyre, I didn't face major issue. Being tall and doing nothing sepcial, I feel 30K additional investment is not worthy. BTW I also own XPulse 4V. Really great bike for off-roading. Can you pl help me to figure out where this bike is special?
The Speed has low GC. Can get in the way of off-roading? Here, you got nothing to worry about. Like you said, the Speed's tyres are not meant to go on dirt but here, you pretty much get a package that can do it all
Good crisp yet detailed review PD & Varun. Do you think 400x or 390x will be better for more of highway, city and minimal off-roading. Definitely I will test drive both :). One of the strong pulling factor for both the bikes is the tall seat height :).
@@powerdriftofficial That will be cool ! 390x is due for engine change though and will likely get completely redesigned in a year's time. Could you also consider a comparo between Honda CBR 300 and Speed 400 as well?
These scramblers are going to be a popular choice Not because of how many times that we would go off roading, but since they will give better ride quality, for so many of us our daily office commutes feel like off road, due to poor condition of our roads and unmarked speed breakers that pop up mostly outside the city.
Everything else that you get under 3 lakhs that are called scramblers are actually pseudo-scramblers. The Yezdi scrambler and husqvarna svartpilen are road bikes that look like scramblers, and the scram is an adventure bike that looks like a scrambler. The Triumph however is a true scrambler that does well on the road as well as off the road.

When he showed rough patches and said "off roading" i was like what? The Western express Highway in Mumbai is not a highway it is a complete off road with patch no traffic rules. Speed 400 was good but i do daily off-roading via Mumbai's western express Highway so I had to shell out the extra money!!
single cylinder with high compression ratio will definitely vibrate. Vibes are fine for occasional riding but if you ride 40+ kms everday, better stay away.
@@powerdriftofficial I chose Himalayan over Scram to ride when I was in Ladakh some time back. I felt Scram's handlebar was a bit too close, not as comfortable and as stable over rough terrain. If you are planning to go offroad as shown in this video, that exactly type of road won't present any trouble for the speed 400 at all IMO, with a bashplate, engine guard, hand guard and most importantly a good set of 50/50 tires is all you need. Hope it can survive Bangalore’s off-road oriented(crater laden) and flooded roads !!
Bad roads aren't going to trouble the Scrambler.
Considering the amazing roads of India I reckon scramblers just make sense for the Indian roads. It's off-roading everywhere. 😂
💯
Beside Ducati Scrambler, this is one of the best looking scrambler for me!! Right amount of power and Torque and other feature!! Well made scrambler....!!
Couldn't agree more!
God i was waiting for this video for a long time, i believe Triumph should have released it together with the speed.
And an introductory price of Rs. 2.49 lakh :P
@@powerdriftofficial exactly
I like how the Indian motorcycle space evolves in manufacturing and Media presentation.
Powerdrift guys, please for the love of God, nobody's interested in your god awful music boosts. Let the man speak and be heard. That's what's people are here for.
Sound mixers - poor job as usual
Varun painter - fantastic as usual
Apologies! We will try getting our audio issues sorted.
+1
The hard rock background score is annoying😢
basically, perfect for the roads of Bangalore
😅😅😅
Perfect for pretty much everything
Hoping that Triumph will release a spoke wheel model is a sentiment shared by many motorcycle enthusiasts. Let's keep our fingers crossed for your wish to come true!
Hi from Canada. I’m in my 50s, experienced rider, currently riding a 1300cc Stryker. I’m 185cm; is the 400x too small for me? How tall are you if you don’t mind me asking?
You can i think.... Varun is well over 6ft
About 6'2"
Great review, it's like a Fantic Scrambler - but should be reliable! What brand is the jersey please???
Wow the old Powerdrift is back.. I really feel it.... perfect first impression brothers .. loved it
Thank you champ. Much appreciated
Love this comment
YW indeed. @@powerdriftofficial
perfect for bengaluru roads
Would be great if we could have speed 400 and ktm 390 new duke comparison ...
I want this comparison too
Signed and sealed 😊
Only sensible channel not using Himalayan name to sell thr bajaj bike video
🙌🙌🙌
Tiger 400 with different variants in the works. Surely they will launch soon
We cannot wait to
If they launch tiger 400 it's over for most bikes cuz their tigers are great
Love the review! New subscriber from the Philippines!
Waiting for Comparison of Yezdi Scrambler Vs Triumph Scrambler
Yup! That's next.
It is a bike for thrill seekers
hurry Triumph and get this in the UK shops people are waiting and what is the news if any on a 250cc if you sell that for sub £3K you flood the market,
I am waiting for the 250cc variants too.
@TriumphIndia please open a showroom in Calicut! Just 1 showroom in Kerala (Kochi) doesn't cut it! There are soooo many bikers and Triumph-lovers just waiting to get our hands on this one! 😭😭😭
100 + dealerships by March 2024. Hope Calicut is on the cards.
VP is a big fan of the 390 Adv too. Tough call to be honest. We will get a comparo video done.
@@powerdriftofficial That will be cool ! 390x is due for engine change though and will likely get completely redesigned in a year's time. Could you also consider a comparo between Honda CBR 300 and Speed 400 as well?
The last few words of a summary/verdict is just perfect for a tie breaker... 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Thank you! Hope you enjoyed the review :)
These scramblers are going to be a popular choice Not because of how many times that we would go off roading, but since they will give better ride quality, for so many of us our daily office commutes feel like off road, due to poor condition of our roads and unmarked speed breakers that pop up mostly outside the city.
Very well said. The Scramblers are a versatile bunch :)
Too right. 17" rear, 19" front on a 340lb 650 single on 50/50 tyres in the UK is my ride.
RE should learn from triumph how make a scrambler and not just redesign the himalayan
But this is just a redesigned speed 400?
@@eddnel2506 Yaa engine is the same but rest everything is different and better made for a scrambler
🍿
Triumph 400 speed looked smaller for me. This one definitely qualifies, at least from the height perspective.
We agree. Bigger feel
We absolutely agree
One request to the editor when you display the specs of the bike in the bottom where the subtitles is displayed we viewers are not able to read the specs can you place it a little above the place where subtitles are shown
Feedback noted. Thanks for writing in :)
Hello..I'm 179 cm, 34 inseam....is it better than speed for you?
Excellent review. Really enjoyed that review, keep it up guys.
thank you
The only thing preventing me from ordering one right now is my inseam. I need to make sure I can fit on the thing.
You describe it very nicely man.
nO MATTER WHAT how good bike is wind blast is issue. Get ktm 250 or 390 it is good. triumph India has worst after sales and service personal experience.
You went through a bad experience is it?
@@powerdriftofficial me and my friend who owns Daytona 675 had same issues.
Great review!! 👍 keep it up guys!! We want you guys to review bikes n cars personally.....
Very soon!
When wiill we have a review on american roads please!
Well, that will take a while.
What a smashing looking bike! Thanks for the review, on my way to the showroom soooon!
Yaaay! Happy Scrambling :D
Its actually confusing because u can buy upcoming Himalayan, adv 390 😅
ADVENTURE vs SCRAMBLER. Big difference ;)
Is this bike suitable for this condition? If i use 70 % for off road and only around 30% for city.
Maybe look at something else if you are riding about 70% offroad.
Go for Hero Xpulse 200!
Honda unicorn lo aur khushiyan manao
:(
When he showed rough patches and said "off roading" i was like what? The Western express Highway in Mumbai is not a highway it is a complete off road with patch no traffic rules. Speed 400 was good but i do daily off-roading via Mumbai's western express Highway so I had to shell out the extra money!!
Everything is great 👍🏻 but I was looking for pillion comfort review for touring purpose and sadly that's missing in this video!
Youre better off with an adventure bike for your purpose
Full review! Promise.
refinement and vibrations are a turn-off though :(
Not really! More of a buzz than all out vibrations
single cylinder with high compression ratio will definitely vibrate. Vibes are fine for occasional riding but if you ride 40+ kms everday, better stay away.
How does this compare to himalayan 450? Is the vibration above 100 persistant?
Can't wait for this to release in the Philippines!
🙌🙌🙌
What's the fuel octane recommended by triumph for this bike? Tnx
Will change from country to country.
Where in the country is it 41 degrees now?😂
This is Kolad, Maharashtra. Terrible heat
Scrambler Vs duke 390…which one will you prefer?
They don’t go up against each other
I think its proportions are also better compared to Speed. Rear tyres look a bit bulky, but thats a good thing I think.
Looks and feels bigger than the Speed for sure
@@powerdriftofficial I chose Himalayan over Scram to ride when I was in Ladakh some time back. I felt Scram's handlebar was a bit too close, not as comfortable and as stable over rough terrain. Triumph 400X looks stunning but I'm really looking forward to the new Himalayan. Looking forward to your comparison for the two.
If you are planning to go offroad as shown in this video, that exactly type of road won't present any trouble for the speed 400 at all IMO, with a bashplate, engine guard, hand guard and most importantly a good set of 50/50 tires is all you need. Ground clearance for that type of road is even enough for the speed 400, plus you get a lower seat height.
Stiffer suspension setup, travel will get in the way. Also, dual-purpose tyres come as standard.
@@powerdriftofficial suspension is an easy upgrade and once done it will be better than the 400x because it will be customized for the rider. The aftermarket options will soon catch up.
@@ripmax333 Umm! And you end up spending another 30k on the suspension? Which means you are at the same cost as the Scrambler.
@@powerdriftofficial 30k lol, you are saying in rupees maybe? Certainly not euros. A simple set of stiffer progressive springs won't cost that much, that's for sure.
If scrambler, it is more appropriate with spoke rim, not sport rims.
Sure! But then again, Scramblers aren't all out off-roaders. They are more soft-roaders.
would not buy with spoke rims; with mostly on road riding.
It's true dat scramblr 400 x is best in its category but da issue is its not easily available everywhere. Even at dehradun it's not available...what 2 do
Bro I am 22year old and 6 feet height. What is the best bike for me under 4 lakh. A bit speed and off-road for uttrakhand. I live in Rishikesh. Is scrambler 400x is a good idea??? Or Himalayan or gs310 or ktm adventure???
@@ujjwallll9186get the adventure 390 or the bmw gs

Waiting for Himalayan 450 comparison with this one
Does not go up against the Scrambler directly but we will get this done
Triumph, now please bring us Tiger 400 ❤
And the Thruxton too :P
