the coolest man on the planet. closely follwed by john squire, gary mounfield and alan wren. heaton park 29 july was one of the days of my life, only the birth of my kids beats it!!!!!!!
That's awesome, I just listened to a song 5 minutes ago that he did that has Mexican sounding trumpets in it, must have been recorded a little later, "Time is My Everything" I think It was
Tony Wilson is brilliant here at getting a good interview out of someone (unfairly) stereotyped as "difficult" or mouthy. But I'm biased, Ian Brown is a musical hero for me & the Roses still pee from a great height over all modern guitar bands. After 20 years, no one's bettered them
Intelligent questions get intelligent answers...simple enough formula and nice to see for once. Knobby T4 type presenters just ask him stupid questions and usually he closes up (or he wants to knock them out in Steve Jones' case...LOL). Both of these guys here make be proud to be a Manc.
"We never got paid on the first LP" - to all those absolute FUCKNUGGETS who are dissing The Roses for re-forming for "money", I ask that you think about that statement. Imagine making an album that is up there with The Beatles 'Revolver' as regards majorly influential British pop/rock music, and seeing a host of imitators like Oasis make MILLIONS from copying you, and not getting paid for it? The Roses are welcome to the money they're now making... and they deserve every last penny.
@philipheubeck oasis was not crap they made two great albums and struggled to top it just like most other bands who put all there best stuff on there 1st two albums. including the stone roses it was a bit contridictive of ian to quote that considering oasis did more than stone roses ever did lol i got more enjoyment out of oasis b sides than both stone roses albums put together but hey im in it for the music not the chit chat.
@philipheubeck oh i know it was not his quote and i like ian brown he tells it how it is. just like noel does. and weller. i find it a contradictive quote regardless who says it. oasis saved a dying era of pop rock in my view.and they don't get the credit they deserve in that respect
@astroboirap erm, because it shows how successful a band is. so yes, Oasis are pretty fuckin good. YOU AND I ARE GONNA LIVE FOREVER PAL! what don't you like about them? Similar to the Roses.
@dean24uk Don't get me wrong - Oasis are my favorite band. Why would anybody love Ian's music and not Oasis? I just thought the quote in itself was funny, and on top of it it's not even his own personal opinion, he's just quoting fans who would come up to him, urging him to make a solo record. "boom boom" lol
Depends what you mean, in some ways Ian Brown is better, but in terms of vocal ability (it doesnt matter whether Liam copied Ians style he's a better singer, end of, so don't bother using that as a reply) and humour Liam is better, you can't say Ian is funnier than Liam Gallagher.
You obviously haven't seen the Roses live recently - theyre immaculate now. Liam just based himself on Brown and copied as best he could -and admits it. Nothing is as good as the original.Liam is no better a singer and isnt the talent behind Oasis - thats Noel.Brown has writing credits on some amazing songs - Liam is a karaoke boy, singing whatever his brother tells him. Im not interested in how many records- Bieber sells a lot of records!
@astroboirap They sound nothing like The Beatles. I can't stand it when people say that. Just because Noel & Liam idolise them doesn't mean they sound like them. Over-rated, pfft! lol. I love the Oasis the same as the Roses. I bet your a shoe-gazer arent you. You sound a bit of a nerd lol.
@danmancmufc no it doesnt, record sales do not even equate to artistic integrity. i dont like oasis because they sound like a cheap beatles ripoff. they only had one ok album anyway, hugely overated. Stone Roses and The La's shit over oasis. i even liked blur better than oa-shit
You can tell browny really respects Tony, as he is so open and honest in this interview, only Mr Manchester would get a such an interview out of him
Yes I was thinking exactly the same . You can tell he has respect for Tony and liked him.
RIP Tony, Long live Ian
20 years old and still relevant
the best part throughout this without a doubt it when he just says in that classic brown voice: "I wanna work with trumpets"
He was right about the Roses rhythm section, they we're untouchable.

"Do it, do it, you're the man, Oasis are crap, boom, boom" - what a quote, lol
Top interview this was and had to be done. R.I.P Mr Wilson
There was a time early on when Mr. Wilson was their arch enemy. Its fantastic to see Ian Brown and Wilson sitting, talking and laughing.
nobody realises how great this man is....he deserves a lot more recognition :)
Trumpets - Time Is My Everything.
What a great interview, thanbk for the upload :-)

He eventually did get to work with trumpets. :)
And Time Is My Everything.
At 2:40 he's referring to Dave McCracken isn't he?

He is the last word,as far as i am concerned.Thirty years on,he is unsurpassed.
it seems like wot hes really like how no other interviewer cud see - really intelligent and sane with some next crazy mind of ideas
I wanna work with trumpets
You wanna wha?

Bless you Toni. Bless you Ian. Two greats
Brilliant man, Ian’s a shining star. What’s with the satanic set-up in the background?
"I wanna work with trumpets "

liam wrote some good songs...See the sun, Take me...
top bloke...
u should try watching it for 54 seconds and try not imagining his hair is on fire

ian brown: "I wanna work with trumpets"

@astroboirap quiet down. he said, "Oasis are crap" in 3rd person. 50 million records = crap. hmmm yeah ok then.
It’s sad that fans are so narrow minded that they cannot see the value of both bands…Oasis and Stone Roses…I love them both!
Where did the 2 million go...weren't the Roses rich in their time....I mean thats enough money to live off for a ling time....

"oasis are crap" :D
liam gallagher is a poor man's ian brown
I DARE ANYONE TO SAY OTHERWISE
otherwise
