After my mother died and I did her temple work, I gained the greatest appreciation for the blessings of initiatory knowing her body was restored fully.
I wish I’d had this kind of guidance before I entered into the temple for the first time. Too many people around my generation entered for the first time with no preparation and it felt strange. I loved being able to use this as a resource to help prepare my own daughter who will be going to the temple for the first time this year. Thank you! I love your videos!
This is one of the best explanations I've ever heard of temple initatory work. It's natural for people to be wary about new things, but there is nothing to fear here. Initiatory is by far my favorite part of temple worship.
I gotta say it was really weird finding all that bad info about the Temple years before as a protestant and later found myself in the Temple, that first visit the Initiatory was probably the most memorable part, and I was quite comfortable.
Hugh Nibley was a Genius who briefly mentioned the Mandaeans which also reflects a degree of Patience and Wisdom I do not have. 😉 Glad your back doing videos Troy. Makes the quiet of the Mountain less Quiet.
If people find it "creepy" today, they should have seen the ceremony pre-2005. If you go back to the early days of the restoration (Nauvoo or early Utah periods) the ceremony was really different from today (2023).
I was hoping that you would mention what the 4 booths are symbolic of and who the people coming in and out of those "worlds" represent. There is great meaning in the symbols of the initiatory.
Though she mentions a shield was used to protect modesty - she kind of jumps over the huge fact that you were butt naked under that shield - not even garments were worn under it prior to 2005. The shield was opened on both sides and if you didn't hold the sides together you would basically be showing anyone passing by your whole body. And as you were anointed the shield would be lifted a little and the temple worker would reach underneath to anoint, by touching, various body parts. Most people went into the initiatories completely unprepared that they would be naked under a white sheet. It was greatly uncomfortable. There are reasons why the leaders over the last 2 decades have had to change it.
In an attempt to justify some of the material on this channel, at least one of the videos it provides quotes Bres Bednar as saying “that “We may discuss the basic purposes of, and /the doctrine and principles associated with, the Temple ordinances and covenants.” Which, of course, is perfectly correct and understandable. However it is interesting - and important - to note that Pres Bednar has not said (or has ever said) that it is appropriate for us to discuss THE DETAILS of any of the Temple procedures outside of the Temple. As far as I am aware, that instruction continues to be given to new Patrons at the temple today.
Anything she discusses is found in the Bible . While the Bible actually does not tell everything done in the temple it does tell these things and symbols . The church made a video similar and showed garmets also . Look in the Bible .
Have you found the soul center of your inner temple? Are you living from the one and only source of Life and health within you? if not, just relax your mind and body, and let a little sunshine in. Just be still and let the gentle soothing spirit of Love speak to you about the way of Life an health, peace and plenty: this is what you need, the Silence of God. Go deep down into your soul's center and give the Spirit (John 4: 24) an opportunity to guide and show you the way as you daily discover your indwelling Christ. Leroy Moore Emmet FOX
" since the building of the tower of Babel, people have been committing the wrong acts of seeking God in matter and making material things their God. Please get away from the idea that anything very important must be complicated. All the essential things of life are simple. I admire all churches, but to my way of thinking the Quakers have the essentials: it is the smallest religious groups in the country because it is so simple" Emmet FOX
Okay, but your religion isn't Christian. That's the start difference between what Joseph Smith gleaned from other writings, teachings, religions, and cult practices, to incorporate them into his.
@Leondragon06 neither malice nor ignorance. You use these words to solicit a response because of how my words and how they made you feel. Mormons are not Christian. They do not believe in the same God, they do not believe in the same Christ. Your God is foreign to us, your Christ is foreign to us.
@Leondragon06 it's neither ignorance or malice Leon, it is based on what I have read in my own copy of the Book of Mormon, and what it says in the scripture.... simple as that. You can call yourselves Christians all you want, but it's not true. Your Christ comes from a god that is still flesh and Bone and was born on another planet to human-like parents, and then exalted in his flesh by his God, given his same power, to make his own world with his own people. That is not the God of the Bible. Your God gains his omnipresence through his Planet which the book of Moses says is a world of fire and glass. This planet serves as a giant Urim and Thummim. My God doesn't need a planet to have the power of omnipresence, because he's not compensating for a body that is flesh and Bone. Savvy? So to say that I'm ignorant of your religion and its inner workings is egregiously false. Your rites, rituals, and ceremonies as a good example, were taken from the Freemasons. The founding members of the church admit to this in several places. Your endowment Ceremonies is a symbolic washing and anointing where are the recipient receives a new name. The clothing is similar to that of the Freemasons used in these rites, ceremonies, and rituals that the LDS church practices and Secret. Their symbols, most especially in the infancy of the Mormon faith we're also taken from Freemasonry. Then there's the secret handshakes in code words.... up until the 1990s, the Mormons used to take a Blood Oath, and swear that they will slit their own throats and spill their own guts if they tell anyone what goes on in these ceremonies and rituals... which is exactly what the Freemasons expect to keep their secrets doing the exact same thing! Then you have something called the ritual arm raising in which many of us have had the unexpected sneak peek things to one brave soul; during this ceremony the partitioner conducting this strange ritual said that if there be anyone in this circle that holds any ill-will against another in this circle, please step out of the circle so God will be able to fully manifest His blessings. What makes this more strange is the implications of the limits of God's power. If someone in the circle is angry, the Mormon God would not be able to fully manifest His blessings... See, my God; the Creator and the I AM, has no limits. Your god does. My God is the only true God and you as a Mormon stand in falsehood with your eyes, in falsehood with your tongue, in falsehood with your hands. How? Because you have set aside the true law which can only be manifest and come from one place, and that is the Christ of the Holy Bible. Still don't believe me? Let me show you something about your Celestial progression; in the book of Isaiah 14:12- 14 says this - "how you are fallen from Heaven o Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, you who have weakened the Nations! For you have said in your heart: I will Ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the Mount of the congregation on the farthest sides of the North; I will Ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High." Mormons believe in a premortal existence as a Celestial child or spirit being. They too are descended and given bodies of mortal flesh. Mormons believe they will ascend to finally be exalted by their God who will then make them a god, gifting them with the same powers of creation which would allow them to create their own heaven and on Earth which is parallel with I will exalt my throne above the stars of God semicolon I will also sit on the amount of the congregation... the balance of the congregation is Zion, but you Mormons believe in a different Zion which is separate from the Bible. So for Satan to say that he will sit on the Mount of the congregation has to be Traverse from the description given in the Bible because the only one that can sit there is Christ himself.... unless of course there existed a false Zion. I will Ascend above that of the clouds, I will be like the most high. Everything of this verse sounds awfully similar to the fall of Lucifer in the process that you guys have to go through, and what your promised at the end which is a throne of your own making, in your own heaven, to rule over your own congregation which is comprised of your spirit children, where they like you Mormons now with your God, play your God that above the Bible. A man by the name of Thomas Carlyle attended one of these gatherings that was headed by Joseph Smith, and he had this to say about what he witnessed; " the great man was always like lightning Out of Heaven, men waiting at rest as fuel, so they too would Flame." Why would a noted Catholic historian use these words to describe Joseph Smith? Doesn't it say in Luke 10:18, that Jesus beheld Satan as lightning fall from Heaven?? It's such a strange description that I don't even have to look up the quote by this man because it is burned into my memory. Another connection to Satan is of course your God being of Flesh and Bone. I was a Satanist once, and they, just like all witchcraft, articulate the metaphysical by means of the physical. Your church has separated God, the holy ghost, and Jesus into three separate beings. It says it right here on the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints website and I will read it to you verbatim; "like many christians, we believe in God the father, his son Jesus christ, and the holy spirit. However, we do not believe in the traditional concept of the trinity. We believe that the father, the son, and the holy ghost, are three separate beings who are in one purpose." The church's first article of faith states, we believe in god, the Eternal father, and his son, Jesus christ, and in the Holy Ghost," we believe that they are three distinct personages, not One Singular being. We call them the godhead" The example that you guys use to justify this point of view is Matthew 3:16-17. I can tear your entire religion apart with just this, "and jesus, when he was baptized, went up straight away out of the water calling and lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the spirit of God descending like a dove, and lightning upon him: and lo, a voice from heaven saying, this is my beloved son, in WHOM I am well pleased." Since when is any singular person addressed as "whom". There is a trifecta that exists in everything in both Theology and nature which draws us to three simple words; Holy Holy Holy. Even humans are a trifecta; we have a spirit, not to be confused with a soul which is the second part, and then we have our bodies. It's something you Mormons will never get because you're stuck on stupid

I went through pre-2005 and had no preparation except for "you'll need to bring some money to buy undergarments."

I really enjoyed this. It reminded me of how Hugh Nibley would tie together modern Temples, ancient Egypt and other esoteric principles and teachings.

Another fantastic video!!! Thank you!!!
I liked this video. I thought your insights were great and they helped me learn.

Exactly in the temple thier are long and detailed sermons on sacred secrecy keeping commands
I went through in 1998 naked under that shield.. super uncomfortable, my testimony pretty much died that day.

Thank you. It would be so appreciated if you would please speak more slowly.

So glad Christians don't need these these kind of rituals we have have real hope not manufactured substitutes
are you saying the christians who actually met in person Jesus back in the day weren't as christians as you happen to be?

I love how you try to talk about other religions and their weird naked ceremonies to justify the perversion of this all 😂
These are details that are sacred and should not be discussed outside the temple. 😢
