    When I bought "20 Years of Dirt" on cassette back in the 80's, a lot of my friends said NGDB was old! Now, nearly 4 decades later, I'm still listening to that same album on my phone, plus lots of new stuff! Glad you guys are staying "Forever Young". Will there be "60 Years of Dirt" in 2026?

    When you have an incredible, longtime band record a legendary song and the drummer also takes the lead riffs on harmonica.... that is EPIC!!!

    My Nitty Gritty Dirt Band experience started way back in 1986. I heard "Stand a little Rain" and it immediately was a symphony for my life at that time. In 1992, Not Fade Away had just been released and they were in my town. I took my then girlfriend to see them, she LOVED "Little Angel" so much, we got to interact with the guys for a little while, and it was like a new experience. Such wonderful, gracious and caring people. Her and I got married in 1994, and met the guys again in 1997 at the Big Spring Jam in Huntsville, Alabama. She was actually expecting our first child at that time. We were checking into the hotel and in front of us was John Kay of Steppenwolf, there for the same concert. Walking to our room, we saw Ibby, and we got enough nerves to ask him if the guys would sign a picture from the 1992 concert, and they did. Since then there have been a lot of years, a lot of band changes, but the band sound stays the same. My late wife would love everything that was released, and had special connections with some songs off the "Circle" albums. She's in heaven today but I still can remember the concert in 1992 and sweet memories every time I hear Jeff Hanna sing. Thanks for the lifetime of memories and as Jimmy Martin said "Hold whatcha got". Truly musical Ambassadors to me.

      My husband and I saw that tour in 1992, in Seattle at the Paramount Theatre, our oldest son still remembers that we played their albums all the time when our boys were little. We took him with us too see NGDB, in Bellingham at this huge gorgeous old Fox theater that was completely renovated to its original glory, in 2012, in October, for their finale, they wove The Weight together with Will The Circle Be Unbroken, to pay homage to Levon, who died in April 2012. Everyone was on their feet singing and crying along, somehow, my husband missed Levon Helm’s death, we had to tell him, sadly. My son manages a Restaurant in a store in Bham, and he had to stop playing The Band, because he got tired of explaining The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down, apparently some younger people have canceled The Band. 😢I let my sons know that I want The Circle play at my funeral someday. My mom just passed away and my family and I, made sure my mom had the most beautiful funeral I have ever been to. My dad is deaf with dementia and he is in hospice dying, we just got back from our third long visit to Southern California, to see my dad. I love that the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band came out of Long Beach, coz so did I❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

    It's sad that the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band hasn't kept all the original members over the course of their nearly 50 year long career, but it's good to know that their original front man, Jeff Hanna, has kept the band going for all these years. Keep up the good work, Jeff!

      The drummer, Jimmie Fadden, is also an original member. Bob Carpenter has been there for decades as well.

      They have attracted great talent….I saw them tonight. Jeff promotes each band member and allows then to take the spotlight. The bands lose of talent has been our gain!

    • @RC0307
      @RC0307 Рік тому +2

      And Jimmie Fadden. He's still on drums and harmonica. He's been a faithful longtime member also. And Bob Carpenter (since 1977 I believe) on keys and accordion. Just found out recently that he's married to Gram Parson’s widow, Gretchen Burrell.
      Love that Jamie is performing with the band and Jeff continues to be present with his great stage presence and talent. Plus he doesn't seem to age. I guess it's doing what he loves that keeps him that way. ❤️🎶😍

      I just watched a biopic on the comedy legend Steve Martin (Sky Arts UK) and it featured him playing the banjo (with an arrow through his head) and the presenter (Barry Cryer) mentioned he made appearances in the NGDB.. Great Stand Up and brilliant comedy actor.. They don't make em like that any more!!

      Around 50 years. He came in when the band really hit the mainstream hard. Known them since 1981. They say never meet your idols. The new and the old is the exception. All very good people off stage when nobody is looking. Solid, decent folks. John could be grumpy but can't we all? Great character and characters. Embrace them while we have them. Under any maturation of lineup when the music goes silent the world has lost something magical.

    I have appreciated the NGDB for many years, and they did a good job on this. But I prefer it slower and with more emotion. However, we all know that music is subject to individual likings...

    Glad they finally put a new vocal identity to the band. They lost me for a while after Ibby left and they tried to hang on to the old. These days, I like the new vocal sound combined with the roots in the old Dirt.

    I will be forever grateful for the first Circle record, which instilled in me a love of country music after already experiencing Nashville Skyline and Doc Watson. I'm sad to say that these performances lack the spark of the original group.
