As a resident of Oklahoma, born and raised here in Tulsa, I'll never forget this day, where I was and what i was doing. I was 15 years old. Home from school due to a broken Knee cap. I was on the way to the Dr office in the car with my mom when it came across the radio that there had been some kind of explosion in Okc. I returned home, my mom went back to work and I got in my house, turned on the TV and what I saw was so shocking, so terrible. I waited til my mom got back to work to call her and tell her what I was seeing, this was before cell phones so I had to wait to call my mom and as soon as she got on the phone, I felt a jolt through my house. It was a type of after shock like rumble. I was so terrified. I started to see helicopters flying over my home and a military helicopter and I told my mom that I think our country was under attack. I was home alone and scared out of my mind and being just a 15 year old young girl, I didn't know what to do. I ran into my room and hid there the rest of the day. That evening, turned the TV on and it was even worse than what I had seen earlier in the day. I'll never forget those images I saw. I'll never forget that day. Of course, I had visited the site shortly after the bombing even though we couldn't get close enough to the building for several years. And now, it's just such a beautiful memorial that I visit ever so often. I live in Tulsa, so I'm about an hour and a half away from Okc but it's definitely a day I'll never forget.
And someone whose never lived out in the country. My grandpa got tired of the squirrels getting around all the barriers he devised to keep them from the birdfeeders, so he started sitting by the window with a pellet gun.
That is the same actor (Ben Johnson) who played Eric Harris in the Columbine Case in Season 1 Episode 3. Creepy, if you have in mind that Harris was fascinated by the Oklahoma Attack... 😳😳😳.
@@itatsuuchiha96 Yes, sometimes I forget that it's just acting because it feels so real. It's as if you're standing right next to him. You can almost feel the anger and hatred in the acted scenes. In both episodes (Columbine and Oklahoma)...😳 Ben Johnson is a VERY GOOD actor, that's what makes the scenes so scary.
One thing annoying about these programmes is how the narrator nearly always said x number of people died including x number of kids. Yeah sure kids are innocent but so too are the rest who died and each is just as important as the others so either say how many men, women, teenagers and minor's. Everyone is just as important
It’s because most people, even criminals who have done some of the worst crimes, see targeting children as beyond evil and the worst anybody can do. Children had nothing to do with the government, laws, society norms, purely innocent.
Timmothy McVeigh considered the innocent victims killed in his bombings as Collateral Damage. Thankfully he was convicted and sentenced to the death penalty.
This was the first thing I remember as a news story, 6 years old. The next year on the anniversary, my second grade class had a moment of silence for every victim. These events will stick with me forever.
At 42:35 - a United States Marine, especially a Non Commissioned Officer such as the Sergeant portrayed in the Recruiting Office, would NEVER salute indoors. While he would stand and come to the position of attention when a Commisioned Officer such as Captain Norfleet entered the room, Marines and Sailors (Navy Personnel) DO NOT salute indoors unless they are under arms or wearing a duty belt. Being under arms or wearing a duty belt would require them to be wearing their cover (their uniform hat appropriate to whichever uniform they are wearing) - in the uniform the Sergeant is wearing, it would be the white dress cover, very much like Captain Norfleet's, but without the gold braid across the front - and the Sergeant would therefore render the hand salute with the appropriate greeting of "Good Morning, Sir". Without the uniform hat on, the Sergeant would only come to attention and say, "Good Morning, Sir". Also, I have to say, as a former Marine, that the absolutely horrible salute given by the actor portraying the Sergeant is ATROCIOUS...and any Officer receiving a salute that poorly rendered would most likely absolutely chew the Sergeant's ass off for disrespect. Thank you for letting me get all of that off of my chest.
I visited the federal building site in August of 1995 when I was 13 years old and vividly remember the chain link security fence that was around the bombing site with flowers, stuffed animals, photos and cards attached to it. I also remember the buildings surrounding the federal building had plywood over all of the windows. It was one of the realest things I had ever seen up to that point in my life.
I had a precog dream about people falling from a great hieght about a year before. Then the day it happened my puppy started barkin at the radio. I turned it on just as they reported the bombing of the Murrah Building. I will never forget that day. The next day a friend and I drove from Tulsa to OKC to see the damage. We drove around the block where it was all fenced off and saw the devastation. I cried myself to sleep and had nightmares for several days after that.
I was in Austin, TX, at the time, but most of my family was in Oklahoma City. I was actually in the hospital at the time and watched on TV. I had to get a social worker to help me get hold of my mother. The reason I was so much more concerned about my mother than any other family was because I knew she worked for the Department of Agriculture. What I didn't realize was that she worked for the state Department of the, not the federal. Different building, though she could feel the explosion. And she knew and had worked with some of the people killed. It took me half the day to be able to reach her by phone because the lines were so jammed. No cell phone at the time.
I had a neighbor who was shooting sparrows out of a tree in his backyard. He was surrounded by our suburb. The police were called and responded by seizing a 22cal rimfire, firing 22 lr cartridges. He was not charged and forfeited his gun only. Lucky guy.
I was a baby at the time 3 months old, living in Knoxville, Tennessee when the news coverage began about the attack on Oklahoma City at that building ... Can't believe it's been 3 decades since that attack

The marine says "I noticed a yellow truck parked in front and thought it was odd because its a loading zone and no parking zone." Then says he parks right in front of it. So he parked in the loading zone that was a no parking zone?
Why have some of the people being interviewed got smiles on their faces and some are smirking because there's nothing happy about this at all and it comes across as very insulting to everyone who died .
No offense, but the difference is, still to this day, documentaries like this one keep his horrible act of terrorism alive, along with his message. The best thing we could do is never speak of him again.
You're not making sense. 911 is commemorated like a holiday annually. They are barely calling McVeigh a terrorist. We are only to be reminded of Islamist as terrorist and not white Americans?
It was revenge for the massacres and crimes against humanity committed at Ruby Ridge, Idaho and Waco, Texas in 1992 and 1993 by ATF and FBI agents who were indeed murderers. This wasn't the way to go about avenging the deaths of those murdered by the government though. What made Waco so bad was that the ATF had the opportunity to seize Koresh while he was in the town of Waco running errands which would have saved all the lives of those children and adults, yet they chose to wait until he was back inside the Davidian compound before they struck.

It was there so employees who worked in the building could have a convenient and subsidized place for their kids to stay while they worked.
