Hej Pelle! Nice to know! I was introduced to them accidentally - went to a Valentines concert in JKP where they headlined. They were so good. I wish they put out more records. Do you have any idea of the members are still active musically?
@@sensitivehedonist : To this day, I'm still wondering what would have happened if they had continued. A new 1975, a new Phoenix...? Who knows? I don't know if any of the fellas are still active. Sadly, I haven't heard or seen anything...
I'm 42 year old male sitting in the bus with a large lump in my throat crying to this song and video. Have done so for years and most likely always will...
Just hearing the opening lyrics has me crying harder than anything could make me do, mainly because it brings back all of the loss, sorrow and longing suppressed since loosing my own dog 15 years ago, in one soulcrushing punch to the heart.
I found Motorhomes in HMV as one of their Monthly Must Hsve suggestions, years ago, in the Indie section. I was absolutely astonished this band weren't playing on our UK radios and didn't achieve the kind of success they truly deserve. Smoothe production and a truly beautiful track 💕
One of the technicians preparing the capsule before final liftoff states that "after placing Laika in the container and before closing the hatch, we kissed her nose and wished her bon voyage, knowing that she would not survive the flight."[18] The exact time of the liftoff varies from source to source and is mentioned as 05:30:42 Moscow Time or 07:22 Moscow Time.[18] At peak acceleration Laika's respiration increased to between three and four times the pre-launch rate.[9] The sensors showed her heart rate was 103 beats/min before launch and increased to 240 beats/min during the early acceleration. After reaching orbit, Sputnik 2's nose cone was jettisoned successfully; however the "Block A" core did not separate as planned, preventing the thermal control system from operating correctly. Some of the thermal insulation tore loose, raising the cabin temperature to 40 °C (104 °F).[20] After three hours of weightlessness, Laika's pulse rate had settled back to 102 beats/min,[21] three times longer than it had taken during earlier ground tests, an indication of the stress she was under. The early telemetry indicated that Laika was agitated but eating her food.[20] After approximately five to seven hours into the flight, no further signs of life were received from the spacecraft.[9] (Taken from Wiki)
The section between 2:25 and 3:35 is some of the most mesmerizing music I've ever heard. The guitar, drums and violins all combine to take you to another place entirely, before stopping abruptly and returning to the original riff. It's just genius, and powerful beyond explanation.

I love the song but I just can’t bring myself to watch this video again, I cried my eyes out the very first time a saw it and have never watched it back
I remember seeing this video when i was younger. After i saw it the first time i avoided seeing it again since it made me feel so bad. I never forgot about it though and have been searching for ages and Finally! i found it and now i'm crying like a baby..
i have such hard time listening to this song because it reminds me of my old dog when he was put down... it was the same year this one was released....

Oh, trust me, I know how *that* feels. I'm a hopeless romantic, so I end up feeling like I have really strong chest pains every time a couple I enjoy in a book, movie, TV show or musical doesn't end up together.
Whenever it's time to teach class about the Laika mission, just show them this. That's all they need to know, humans sent animals to space without, obviously, the animal in any form could consent or refuse. They later regret it, according to various sources but by then it was far to late. Humankind, everybody.
Before the launch, one of the scientists took Laika home to play with his children. In a book chronicling the story of Soviet space medicine, Dr. Vladimir Yazdovsky wrote, "I wanted to do something nice for her: She had so little time left to live."
@SolitaireShin Yeah, but it's still heartbreaking - I mean I learned about Laika in school when I was about 8 years old, and no one bothered to tell us that she didn't make it back, this video was actually a history lesson for me, combined with the song it was a pretty potent emotional cocktail.
I think this video was meant to pay homage to Laika - the dog that was sent out into space before humans, and which tragically died (search for "Laika" on wikipedia). Anyone else who agrees?
this makes me cry so fucking hard. Based on a true story for those of you who don't know. Laika was the first animal in space, before any humans. The spaceship was not designed to come back to earth and she died in space, probably due to overheating issues.
For sure. The sadest video ever with one of the sadest songs ever, what more could you ask for? But im not surprised, since they (watchmojo) basicly only use superfamous bands with songs from the last 5 years.
yeah, I'm not gonna lie, I started crying...this video is so freakin' depressing! first time I heard the song was happier, 'cause it used to be on the trailer for The Summerhouse, with Talulah Riley
You clearly don't understand the point of this video. It's a musical retelling of a thing that *actually happened*: in 1958 the Soviets launched a little dog named Laika into space, knowing that the dog would die. The scientists felt pressured to do it to win the space race, and regretted it forever after. "The more time passes, the more I'm sorry about it. We shouldn't have done it... We did not learn enough from this mission to justify the death of the dog." --Oleg Gazenko
@TalulahCarmichael Me tooo!!! i heard the song on the summer house trailer..... As soon as i heard it i fell in love with the song...the song is sooo heart felt...but kind of a let down when the music video was about a dog?! Te dog dying at the end was really sad though....But still a steller song! ^_^ Its the kind of song that really ....idk how 2 say it....gives me literally strong heart felt pain
This video isn't just tearful, it's also very weird. Too weird for me to like it at all. First of all: Laika was an ownerless street dog, that's why no one cared for her. That was sad and cruel, but at least it made some sense and of course you could make a song to honor and remember her. In this video, some poor guy sells his beloved dog to death, and everyone feel so sorry for him because he has no own responsibility for what he did to his best friend. But it's not sorry for him at all, he's a heartless and greedy freak who deserves to suffer until he dies. If I did this to my dog, then would you hug and console me? Of course you wouldn't, you would beat me up. Unless you didn't hear this song in the background, I guess.
@@Snowkobbie Oh come on, it sounds like you don't know much at all about stray dogs 😂 It sounds like you don't know how stray dogs reproduce by themselves, and it sounds like you can't even differ the streets from the space. You were not so lucky when you thought this time, were you? And still - you never depict someone who abandons his dog like that as anything else than a pure asshole. Why does Motorhomes want us to feel sorry for this asshole?
Laika och Turbo! RIP...💞🐾🐾
criminally underated song
Immensely proud that I signed this brilliant band back in the 90s. Superb songwriters, musicians and live performers!

This song is solid and what a great video. This band should have made it to the very top. Anyway, It is on repeat in my house.
I dont know what hits the hardest, the song or the video...Combined it is an unstopable force that punch you in the gut at a Mike Tyson-level.

Such a beautiful song. The vid breaks my heart everytime.
Into the night we're alright
Into the pale moonlight
Nothing could go wrong
When you're alone carry on
Pull out the nails from your bones
Keep on keeping on
You've got nothing to fear
Promise you will be there
Nothing will go wrong
Don't chase the beat of your heart
Don't let yourself fall apart
You've got nothing to fear
Promise you will be there
Nothing will go wrong
This pain put there by your loved ones
Goes deep into your bones
That carry your body
This pain put there by your loved ones
Goes deep into your bones
That carry your body
Into the night it's alright
Into the pale morning light
Nothing has gone wrong
And nothing will go wrong
He has such a beautiful voice
This is the best song of all time.
It speaks straight to the heart.
His voice is angelic.
