Let's keep this Chinese tradition alive. Everyone should be eating with beautiful hand painted dishes.

Wow, this was soooo cool to see. Here in Canada, I go to second hand stores in hope of finding porcelain like this. The love and hours put into each piece....priceless. To me, to get to see this man and his life's work....thank you Goldthread. I can only hope that this factory can go on and on. To those of you that work with Joseph Tso and to Mr. Tso himself, thank you for all you hard work and years of dedication to a beautiful craft and beautiful workmanship. I hope to see China one day.

I hope this place will sill exist for years. I may not have money, now, to travel the world but I would go to Hong Kong just to buy a bunch of porcelain from this guy!

It's not cheap and you'd better asking them for price and availability. :)
Nonetheless, it's a good place to visit if you collect china porcelains.

China's industries are changing so fast. Things that were common just 20 years ago are hard to find or just plain not made any more. I'm so glad that you've featured Mr. Tso and hope that it brings him more customers. I've been trying to find old-style, mass-produced celadon bowls and I just can't. Only as secondhand or antique. New ones use different glazes, different molds.

the biggest porcelain exporter in the world today is still China. What did change is that machines are now able to do these things instead of hand painting them

It would be such a loss if this factory closed down. I hope there will be another generation to take over.

this is the problem with the Chinese art, they treat it like factory. They should treat it like work of art. Work of art carry high margin. They need to control the supply too. Just because you can easily make 100 products a day, doesn't mean you should produce 100 products a day. Instead, they should spend more time on teaching apprentices to carry on.

While there is definitely an element of artistry in their craft, they distinguish themselves as craftsman and not artists for a reason. A craftsman creates an object for the sake of the object itself, and of it's usefulness to someone else. While a lot of people in the west display porcelain plates, they are still plates and craftsmen create them hoping they would be used as a plate. An artist creates for the sake of self-expression, of connection, to tell a story.
