Holy Shit!! I had this on cassette tape back when it first came out!! Hearing this again after 35 years brings back so many memories and damned if I don't remember every single word of each song after all these years!!! Killer Band!!!!!
My college roommate was friends with Art, he was at the Slayer v Slayer show. I met Art in 1986, he was playing in SA for some other band. Incredible metal guitarist!!!
I knew that there was a band called S.A. Slayer for some time, but I never listened to their music until now. I never knew until recently that they were originally called Slayer, but had to add the S.A. because of the other Slayer that was part of the big 4. This is actually really good.
I don't believe that there was a winner, power metal vs. thrash metal how do you decide a winner? And factor in San Antonio slayer had already called it quits before that show.
That sucks about the vinyl but there are places u can still find records there's a club online and a place down 6th street in ATX but idk were yr at good luck if you decide to go back in collecting I got some floyd, maiden , king diamond and Matalica myself
I’m an old-school LA slayer fan. I just heard about the story today. I’m 53 years old. It doesn’t matter, I just figured I’d throw that out there. This EP is fucking amazing! I need this in my life today! I fucking love it! The Maiden influence is undeniable. The priest influence not so much. But this band is fucking killer. Plus, the way they handled the whole situation back in the day, is commendable. Much better than the whole Unearth Situation. Fuck! I love this band.
Great San Antonio Metal band. Too bad Metal Blade forced them to change their name to S. A. Slayer. They had much better logo then L. A. Slayer and were well known and established here in S. A. before L. A. Slayer issued their 1st LP. I'm a fan of both bands and followed the S. A. Slayer members after their break up who went on to play with Mark Reale (Riot and Narita), Juggernaut, Machine Head, Watchtower, etc. The early to mid 80's S. A. Metal scence was the best.
The same thing happened with Unearth. Unfortunately, the band that lost out in the name war didn’t handle the situation very well. They were very negative about it. SA slayer handled it with grace. And here we are now. I just heard about this band for the first time. I fucking love them.
Been an OG L.A. Slayer fan since I was 16. I just learned about S.A. Slayer yesterday from The Witching Hour with Lord Necron. I had no idea there was even two Slayers, because to me, and I guess everyone else, there's only one TRUE Slayer. These dudes fucking rip though.
THESE poor dudes gave their careers up for a paltry 10K, much as I love Dave, Tom and Jeff, these guys are Coroner whereas the world clamors for Celtic Frost
Hell yeah they sold their souls to rock and roll and look shady like the original singer from Iron Maiden, sound like Pentegram with high pitched vocals and are just as shady as Slayer from LA just like the people in America who pretend to be Kerry King and Tom Araya speaking through your neighbors house phones on speaker.
Who's here after seeing the story on Rock and Roll Stories channel? (Note I heard about both bands around 1983)
I remember the Slayer vs. Slayer show at the Via Fontana in San Antonio. But this was San Antonio Slayer. RIP Steve Cooper
Are these guys from San Antonio!!??
@@renegade.records yes. These guys are..
I went to school with the bass player sister.
Donnie van stavern now plays for RIOT...

Rock N' Roll True Stories brought me here......good stuff
LOL! Same here! My mind is fucking officially blown. Old School slayer fan, I had no idea. This band kicks ass.
Same here. I've been a Slayer fan a for twenty years and had no idea this was a thing.
Same

"Slayers day has risen it is our time to fly

Love this shit!!! I remember as a kid taking guitar lessons from Art at a guitar store in the south side of San Anton!!! 🤘🏽👹

im taking Bass lessons from art right now!

Best of the 80s i was at the concert of the Battle of the Slayer S.A won....back then
I don't believe that there was a winner, power metal vs. thrash metal how do you decide a winner? And factor in San Antonio slayer had already called it quits before that show.
Wow easily this holds up well 30 years later
This is the first time I’m ever hearing it. I have to tell you, I need this album in my life. It’s fucking amazing! You’re absolutely right!
My vinyl dealer knows the guitar player and said they're re-releasing their music. So now I'm here.
High school memories. You don't hear riffs like this anymore. 🤘🏽
superbly crafted melodic and epic metal , from texas !!!
Bought that amazing ep in 83 just because of its cover and never regret it. Cheers for the upload (my vinyl is completely wrecked now)

Thank you! I'm glad you like it.
hey remember when Hetfield used to sing high like this?
Great upload!
The drummer is Dave Mclain.later in machine head.and the guitar later in watchtower.
excelente aporte!!!
These guys kick ass
Yeah one of the guitarists, Art, is my bass guitar teacher and he is so damn good.
Outstanding.
Whatchtower brought me here.
Mantap lagu2nya....👍🏻🤘🏻💫
I really like both Slayers. These guys rule. Damien Thorne, Hammerwitch and Samain worth checking also as well as loads of others. \\m//
Damn the world would be a better place if two Slayers still existed lol these song Slay!
The _real_ Slayer ;)
It was the strongest that survived though
@@manslarsson9342 u hear from rock n roll true stories?😂
I disagree. I think both bands are fucking amazing. It’s the name that buried this band. That’s a shame. These guys kick fucking ass.
I just read an article about band with the same name, and that brought me here. This is pretty good for 1983, on a small recording budget.
Killer skins and metals. Chi Town
I heard of this band from rock n role true stories so i decided to give them a try and tbh, they ain't that bad at all.
An old Guitar World magazine column on old power metal commenting on the sad fate of this band's name to the big 4 thrasher made me aware of this....
Respect from Ukraine!
SLAVA UKRAINE!!! - Art Villarreal (I am on this album ;))
Awesome. Awesome like Witchcross.

Not suprised to see this. There was also a "Disturbed" out of Minneapolis I believe.

I remember this album cover from Creem magazine; the article stated 2 new bands this cover and L.A. Slayer's Show no Mercy. I picked the latter
Jamey Jasta show with Dave Mclain brought me here.
killer band !!

Fuck!!!! Here it is!!!
Kick ass
Hellyeah! SA SLAYER!!!⛧🤘
These dudes had better guitar players.
JUST DISCOVERED THIS… KILLER!!!?👊🔥🤘
It's alright
singer reminds me of budgie singer
Sounds like Kill Em’ All era Metallica
reminds me off no life ‘til leather
Nothing like people inspired by the same music and playing by their own rules. The 80's produced some of the most innovative sounds ever.
THESE poor dudes gave their careers up for a paltry 10K, much as I love Dave, Tom and Jeff, these guys are Coroner whereas the world clamors for Celtic Frost
Dave Tom and Jeff? There were two Slayers in the 80s this one was out of San Antonio.
@@juliustherenaissanceman1900 I think you misunderstood his comment
LOL. my "B"
Power Metal? They're sound more Speed Metal/Classic Bay Area Thrash Metal
they sound like nwobhm.
They sound like wanna be kill em all Metallica

Rob Hartford... from Connecticut?

Steve Cooper was also on Juggernaut’s Trouble Within album. His vocals fit that music better.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fun fact: the place where this picture was taken had real blood under the ram skull

Nit a fan of the vocals, but it’s pretty good all around
Better than Kerry king...lol jk jk jk
Kerry King tries to hard to be edgy while he sucks at guitar
No JK needed my man. His leads will forever be a joke to me
RIOT?
Donnie van stavern now plays bass for RIOT.....
I really thought the vocalist was a womyn
He was a class act.
Steve Cooper.... past away in early 2000.....
Sounds like the singer from Coven, not a bad thing, just not a woman lol
LA Slayer sucks, this is far better.
Smart. Fuck l a slayer
Wrong
I was blessed to watch them live and taught by Art!!!
Both bands are equally good🙂
Not HARD enough to be considered actual METAL!!!
You must be young. This is what a lot of metal sounded like in 1983.
Huh? This is actual metal in it's purest form.
Go back to wimpy Korn then !
Christian Jackson - You are so completely full of shit.
This was straight from "the front" at the this time period of Metal in the 20th Century.
Jasta Show with Dave McClain got me here... This album goes hard!!!
