That is what you call straight dedication and free classes from this men showing use how to get better in a job site you make me do this stone wen I get my new home my first home thank you so much for you’re videos 100% brother much love
Wow. I have been watching construction trades men for a while now. You know when you see someone who was taught how to do thing correct and proper. In my county we used to have master "class 1" trades men. Ryan, you're a class 1 trades man. Big up!
Much respect brotha appreciate that stone cutting tip, nice work as always. Been in masonry for 6 years now and still learning new ways to do things from watching other guys. Bless up!
Your work is like therapy because of my luv for construction all areas...when I make a trip back to canada - which i do very often before covid, my mom lives there- i want to visit one of your active work site to see you in action.....
I'm a Mason here in Philadelphia.. but had to comment on how nice your work is. It's good to see the trade being represented by such a good mason. Your top notch..
Just a bit of advice .Cross joints are a big no no in this type of paving (you have 4 slabs meeting at the corners at the worst possible place out side the front door.) you should also be using a paving slurry on the back of the stones prior to laying them in the mortar for a really secure bond between stone and mortar . Generally speaking it’s a nice looking job 👍.
That work looks amazing!! I wish I had a specialist like you. I'm getting my porch done now and fired my last contractor. No overhang on the steps and uneven stones and joints. Some gaps wide and some small. Keep up the great work. Love the videos.
Top quality work in all you do. I thoroughly enjoyed watching you work. I retired 20 years ago as a concrete & masonry superintendent. I worked in my trade and not just sit in the office. I would have loved to work next to such a talented and professional mason as yourself. You are also very personable and love to share your knowledge. The last concrete & masonry job I did was the executive terminal at Lakeland Linder Regional Airport in Florida. I did all of the concrete, block & black split face concrete veneer. The approach and entrance has exposed aggregate river rock concrete. I did mostly commercial including schools, colleges, hospitals, churches, airports and municipal parking structures. I retired at the age of 42 and I sure do miss it, hence watching you fellas do the work from my recliner.
Did a bluestone patio like this once and some of the stones had iron deposits that came out on the surface after we acid washed it. Customer made us rip them out and replace even tho it was naturally part of the stone lol.
Great video's! I'm an ex concrete finisher and I used your videos to figure out how to do a paver patio/stairs over concrete. Came out amazing. Your pointing instructions are the best out there. on the overhangs, did you not spray the joints so that the mortar would have more friction and not fall through?
great job ! to bad you couldn't the level up to the door so you didn't have 3 inch step into the house not your fault steps were already poured nice work
From my experience, to do over an inch you can mix Type S with a bag of concrete. Bag concrete is pea gravel for aggregate so it will not get in your way when leveling it down and helps reduce shrinkage. Also you can add a rapid set mortar/Cement to the mixture as it hydrates more and shrinks less, but I caution using that as you have to move fast (doing a 10 to 15 %) makes it unworkable in 30 minutes. Pure Rapidset, and Ive had it set up in the bucket before I could use 1/4th of it.
So I'm used to tile where you do a layout and may even rip the first row so you don't end up with an award sliver at the end, do you do that or with stone and brick are you able to fudge the last bit if you end up with an award piece?
If your having a cement porch being poured soon, how much space do you need to leave in inches for future flagstone? I know steps have to be to code in inches. I wish you could do my work. I also want to do cheek walls/stoops in the future around the perimeter of the porch area.
I like your videos. When laying flagstone or any stone paving in mortar it should always have fresh “neat cement” brushed on bottom. This prevents future delamination from the concrete base. I have been in the trade 50 years and have seen to many flagstone fails.
Front piece chree wit 45 degree hangle: me like; no expect dat; know de flagstone material an install no cheap, but very pretty; an important: stagger de joints dem, like you do

You make it all look effortless! Just one question - why are you spraying water now and then?
Very nicely done!
Looks awesome bro.
Respect my brother ✊🏾

damm thats crazy
You shouldn’t use acid on stone for that exact reason, it will always make the iron come to the surface, just a heads up
Fantastic work!!!
Glad you think so!

Thanks 👍
Heyyyy
Great info and tips
Congrats mate!
Hey, thanks!
Gorgeous
Man good fucking work!!! 4real......
nice work
Awesome work team. Question: wouldn't it have been better to put the bottom of the column rock "on top" of the flagstone for rain run-off?
great job ! to bad you couldn't the level up to the door so you didn't have 3 inch step into the house not your fault steps were already poured nice work
what type mortar you using there? Every Type S/Type N mortar i see says you can only build up 1/2 inch.

I'm so distracted by how good lookin this cat is ...jeeezus. 💗😍
The 🐐 of masonry.
Can I use this kind of stone in jamaica?
respect Matthews ,yes dont see why you cant use it in Jamaica brother,
Can I do this over a painted concrete porch? Concrete paint was used, I used a power wash however the paint won’t come off
Hello brother
I have a question
Do you use Hydrated Lime in cement ?
Great job. Thorough video. What is the name of tool that you're using to scrape off the mortar between the gaps?
Jointer
If your having a cement porch being poured soon, how much space do you need to leave in inches for future flagstone? I know steps have to be to code in inches. I wish you could do my work. I also want to do cheek walls/stoops in the future around the perimeter of the porch area.
it depends

I’ve seen your videos and I work with stone as well and I was wondering why you never use thinset?
i do used thinset as well
I sent out your link so expect a call from my GTA peeps.
Thank you, topaz
Where did you get those spacers ?
What kind of bonding glue is that you spraying on?
Great job! Is it too cold to work with the mortar if it is below 40 degrees Fahrenheit?
thank you, yes it is
Hi, im in Ottawa. Where do you buy this beautiful stone?
I got value from using the grout bag to joint the stone
glad you got value from it 👍
😉👍👏👏👏Ryan .
👍👍✊🏾
Use water cement, on top of mixing cement
Do you guys pick up and deliver the material yourselves or do you have them delivered by the yard supply personnel?
