I have a 24 cross trek wilderness. My advice for what it’s worth is leave the car as stock as you can, it’s a delicate balance and once you start messing with one thing it affects everything.
I’m putting a set of Faulken AT4W’s on my new CT Wilderness…no lift and other external changes. But the meatier tires make a big difference in the overall appearance.
Anyone who wants to modify any Subaru absolutely needs to check out Lachute Performance products, more specifically LP Adventure products for offroad Subarus.
I had the same clunk with my ironman kit. I noticed it on my first shakedown went home and checked the torque on all the bolts and they were all good. I didnt think to check the factory top bolt just assuming it was correct. Took three days before i found the issue. Drove me nuts😅
Great build! Have you run into any issues not carrying a full sized spare? I’m currently running an air compressor and plug kit. I’m wondering if it’s worth diving into a heavier ply tire with a swing out carrier.
fingers crossed nothing has come up as of yet. the idea behind making a bumper is to hold a full size spare, but for now i’m not too concerned. i also carry a compressor and plug kit for the absolute worst case scenario
For a smaller refrigerator consider a Bodega brand. For exhaust look up a Nameless brand. Question did the Front Runner roof rack require you to drop the ceiling to install? Nashfab also has a really nice roof rack.
I’m leaning towards an Engel 35L for my fridge. really small form factor and enough capacity for two people. I did have to drop the headliner for the Frontrunner. I’ve seen Nashfab’s but I will admit I wasn’t a fan of the design. It’s subjective but the angles seemed excessive and for me, took away from the simplicity of a rack system
finally some insight been wanting to change the rims and tires cause they changed it, what would you recommend for the tires since BFgoodrich is a little heavier
Falken is Japanese tire brand and is loved by Subaru. The new Wildpeak AT4ws (or old AT3w's for budget) are on par and lighter than the KO2's and Mickey Bajas but still weighty for Crosstreks. The Wildpeak AT Trails are designed specifically for crossovers and much lighter, just not as strong (2-ply sidewall instead of 3)
Hi, I have a 2024 Crosstrek Wilderness, and was thinking to add a wind deflectors rain guards (in-channel style) to all 4 side windows, unfortunately I could only found for year model 2023 and older model, no in-channel style for 2024. Have you ever found one? Please let me know.
i can’t speak on the base but if you have pre drilled holes in your roof then you would be able to. you’d have to go through the same install process if dropping the headliner and pulling interior panels (not ideal but not a challenge either)
im planning on getting a wilderness this winter, appreciate the vid and absolutely love the light info (im the same way about lights: I don't mess around) and the info in general. I would love some more ground clearance but not if Im going to run into complex issues and forfeit mpg. you went from an F150 to a Crosstrek? lol how come
My F-150 started having some subtle transmission issues. Has a lot of sentimental value and I didn't want to sacrifice the vehicle running into more issues so needed to get into something quick. Crosstrek wasn't my first choice, but price point and the amount of car you get in terms of features and creature comforts for the price is primarily what sold me on it.
i opted for the premium. reasonable price point and didn’t feel the need to spend more on higher trims that came with parts i knew i was gonna swap out anyways
Premium trim with the 2.0L motor. Absolutely gutless but I added a pedal commander to help with pedal response and gear hunting, that’s helped a lot. Went with the premium cause of price point and what u got out of it. Most of the add-ons from the higher trims were things I knew I’d be swapping out so didn’t feel a need to spend more up front

well that's like, your opinion.

I added a subwoofer and some other electronics. I agree, it’s best to keep it stock for less headaches
I agree. For $4,000 more one can buy a CT Wilderness rather than a regular CT.
I'm thinking of getting rock sliders and underbody armor for mine but afraid of messing with "the balance". Don't fully know what people mean by that.

So I am running a Garmin powerswitch on my outback with Baja design lights and I absolutely love it highly recommended
the powerswitch is rad, definitely gonna pick one up soon
I would like to see more off-road videos of your crosstrek.
Good info, thank you
Awesome to see 24 crosstrek finally getting modded! Great tips. what’s the tire size?
225/65/r17
Nice. I'm thinking of getting a Wilderness and throw on 225/65 ATs, a pair of AUX lights, crossbars then call it a day.
Less is more.
Wildpeak at 225/65/17. That’s it

Drove me absolutely insane before I found it. Unfortunately I’m not the only one that’s run into that. Seems to be an ongoing thing for some people

Yeah KO2 are like 10ply, super heavy.. Im looking at the Nitto Nomad.. Need to see the weight gain on them.
As per BFG's specs for the 225/75R17 they state that the widest wheel width is 8 inch.
I'm running a 17x8. Thanks for pointing that out.

The Falken Wildpeak is my favorite tire. I ran 2 sets of them on previous vehicles and had a great overall experience with them.
Toyo Open Country IIIs. Lighter and stronger than just about anything on there for the price and weight.

I have a 24 base model. Doesnt come with the stock roof rails anyway so can I put a roof rack like that on mine?

Do you keep the camper on at all times?
I do, originally didn't plan on keeping it on, but truthfully I didn't take a huge fuel economy hit with it on so I run it full time.
Which trim did you buy?
i opted for the premium. reasonable price point and didn’t feel the need to spend more on higher trims that came with parts i knew i was gonna swap out anyways
@@sperakos thanks!!
Curious to see what attachment you used to delete the muffler. Thank you
Fabricated an exhaust tip that bolted up directly to the factory pipe using the existing gasket
what mpg's are you averaging after all these modifications?
I’m getting around 18 in city and about 20 highway
With the K02 was there any rub or did you have to modify the wheel well
With a 225/65/17 KO2 I had no rub even at factory height. no rub with the lift either
What trim and engine did you start with?
Premium trim with the 2.0L motor. Absolutely gutless but I added a pedal commander to help with pedal response and gear hunting, that’s helped a lot. What model do you have??
