A few months ago I reviewed Behringer's lovely recreation of the classic Wasp synthesiser. As with all my reviews, I made a bunch of music with the synth to show it off in context.
These pieces of music, hopefully demonstrate the Wasp's characterful sound and versatility by genre hopping from Drum & Bass to Euro - Pop and beyond.

I love the overdubbed parts... a polyphonic Wasp would be a dream synth!!!
Can’t they poly chained?
@@Matthewsavant poly chain isn't same as real polyphony.
Fantastic jams, Scott!! 🐝🎹
OMG!! I gotta have one now thanks!
Chops! Chops are rare in our part of UA-cam 😂 Very nice! And great arrangements. Congrats on the @Behringer feature! Cheers from Glenn in NY, USA
The synth sounds great, but your music is even better.
Great job !
Great jam ❤
when he uses the streichfett with the wasp
Beautiful synth jam!
This is awesome!
This module is very agressive, with extremely warm and dirty filter, so it always sounds bit pissed off but smooth and full, interesting concept for analog mono synth.
Very limited and basic synthesis, yet sounds authentic. Lovely jam.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the video.
I couldn’t agree more! The Wasp has such a signature sound. I may have bigger, more fully featured synths at my disposal, but it’s amazing how often I reach for the Wasp when I want that extra grit.
Lovely Tones!
Very nice version Bheringer
WOW! This tells me what I need to know about this machine. How cool is this?! What a bargain, too. This, and the Pro 800..Pretty much all I will need. Subbed, and impressed! I am by no means a keyboard musician, but as a guitar player wanting to get into this world, this is great. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
"This, and the Pro 800..Pretty much all I will need" yeah... And down the rabbit hole he goes! ;-)
Yeah, that particular rabbit hole is a morass of OMG. lol!@@jaylow759
Killer trax mate. - luv 'em a LOT
Excellent!!! I'm motivated to explore my wasp! i suscribed! 😃👍
Wow ! That's real synth playing ! Very well done ! This is so rare on UA-cam ! Most of the people demonstrates synth with very weak music capabilities.
I don't think Behringer get the praise they should for ensuring this British synth continues being used and heard. There's something special about what they've done.
Fantastic jams! I'm so empressed! Really funky crazy, so solid! Thank u for your work!
At last, what do u think about Wasp? Does it worth getting for some embient, sound design?
Oh, now I see the neutron. You got all synth I'm looking at😂
Oh, and akai s2000 on background!! ❤
I actually really like the Wasp! It's very useful to reach to, for basses and grungy leads.
I did explore some of it's ambient potential over on my other channel The Drone Zone.
Maybe take a listen to some of the tracks there and see if it sounds the way you'd like?
Sweet.
Great!
6:36 what I expected this to sound like
I dig it
Great vid. What’s making the drums on 6.15? The synth? I love the snare
I think it’s a mixture of the Wasp and some Logic samples, but it was a while ago so I’m not clear on that point
Wow. What a lovely beefy tone. I see why they cloned it!
I hate that most synths and modular synth modules are so expensive. It makes it hard for a lot of musicians to branch out when they don't have much money to spare on the hobby. A simple sampling machine, even outdated ones like the Emulator 2 are worth well over $3,000 now. I think Behringer makes decent products for reasonable prices. I've tried a few guitar pedals and they were alright for the money but they seem to excel in the synth market. Roland synth keyboards are either very bad if they are cheaper and too expensive if they are good, and Yamaha keyboard synths never have enough control over the sound. Pair this Wasp Deluxe with a cheap $80 Casio (controlled through MIDI) and you can make 10x better sounds than the average $500 synth keyboard for half the cost. Basically, combining a decent synth module with a cheap keyboard is the go to. I see a lot of people doing this when on a budget. You are basically upgrading a crap synth and just using the keys as a control.
Streichfett with the Wasp filter sounds great! Are you modulating it from the DAW?
Yeah, great combo!
No, the modulation was done in the Wasp with the LFO and looping envelope :)
Very good 😃👍☀️
Nice
It's been too long! Curious what you're doing for Halloween
What would 2 WASPS sound like together.......??🤔😍
The same as one Wasp recorded twice, I expect…
👍🏻😎👍🏻
Been thinking about pulling the trigger on the wasp but was hesitant but after hearing this, and it being £133 on Amazon with free delivery, it's a no-brainer. Trigger pulled.
I hope you enjoy it!
Curious what sort of processing you used--some of those sounds are far smoother than I'd expect from this angry buzzy lil stinger
Very little! A splash of delay, sprinkle of reverb. The Wasp is very capable of remaining even-tempered!
I was holding out for a PRO-800 but I wonder how this little bugger would sound with my Odyssey. Looks much easier to tame. Odyssey is deep and tricky for a non-modular analog monosynth.
2:29 whats the name of this song?
There’s a link in the description to all the music in this video 😊
@@ScottAmpleford is it an original of yours or a remix? i swear i heard the tune somewhere else? if its a remix whats the original tune called?
@@hyprz All the music in this video is original.
@@ScottAmpleford I dug deep and found the song it reminded me of. Look up "Casio CZ-5000 - Benjamin LAZZARUS" At about 2:15 in lol.
Proper mental.
Dude, I have all those apart from the Korg, but I have a RD6 i can use instead. Could you walk me through how its all connected?
The Wasp was controlled by Seq1 of the Beatstep Pro, connected via MIDI.
The Neutron was controlled by Seq2, connected by CV and gate.
The Volca was using its own internal sequencer, but was being clocked by the BSP via the sync input.
The three devices were then multitracked into Logic Pro :)
@@ScottAmpleford You Legend! Thank you
Yo Scott, the Wasp has a Filter.
My god, the filter!
@@ScottAmpleford Use it!!!!
@@randydarklight What do you mean? Tweak it incessantly?
@@ScottAmpleford dude! yes! I am a pianist. But noone wants to hear a pianist. TWEAK the Filter dude? You are using it as a Soundfont Player.
@@ScottAmpleford It is an analog VCF!!
Perfect ProgRock sound.
Es una «demo» irreal. Suena muy bien. Pero el Wasp no es multitímbrico ni polifónico. Y nadie como Alexander Robotnick sabe utilizarlo de una manera espectacular.
