As a nurse in UK, I need to clarify some inaccuracies the guest said. Normal RN positions start from band 5, which is about £27,000++ salary. You have to take into accounts that becoming a RN you have to go through years of university education and gain a practice licence. With the responsibilities you hold, the salary just doesn't match it. You may be able to live comfortably on a band 5 salary as a single person, but if you have family and a mortgage, it is more difficult to live on such salary. But i do agree that the case of having to go to food bank is a bit too extreme. In my opinion, it is the beuraucracies and the poor management from the top that cause the failing of NHS.

they have been underpaid for years, for those working for Ambulance Service, commonly they are below band 6, extremely overloaded with extra high work pressures, receiving salaries not able to support their living costs... what they are asking for is just a fair paid.
Some older nurses who have never been to uni called Enrollment nurse Band 4. The nurses who been to uni but only got a diploma called Registered nurse also Band 4. Those been to uni and have a degree also called Registered nurse but Band 5. Then they can work up to higher Band.
Some of the NHS staff abuse the sick leave because they get full paid. Under the NHS scheme, they're entitled to 8 weeks of full pay (less SMP/MA) and 18 weeks of half pay (less SMP/MA), then a further 13 weeks of SMP or MA, leaving 13 weeks of unpaid maternity leave if they wish to take the full 52 weeks of maternity leave. Statutory Maternity Pay ( SMP ) is paid for up to 39 weeks. You get: 90% of your average weekly earnings (before tax) for the first 6 weeks. £156.66 or 90% of your average weekly earnings (whichever is lower) for the next 33 weeks.
Sungzai’s comments on the government attitude is unfair. You have not taken into consideration that the government cannot afford to pay such increase, if they agree to one, the others like ambulances, border etc will continue. The country is in financial trouble. The PM can’t follow people’s wish like Truss without being realistic! They should ask for no increase for a certain period until the government can overcome this harsh time. Frankly, they are not excessively paid, but enough to live through this harsh time, and ask for increase in the future. Furthermore, the increase should consider the merits, not in general!

我覺得被訪問的人唔係前線職員,唔可以單方面評價前線做嘢,在香港,就算係血姑都唔知病房情況.另外,醫院係要職員病到發燒40度都要正確做工作的地方,程序好重要,同其他工作唔同,所以有事發生時首先考慮程序有否問題,可否增加部分程序減少錯誤可能性。另外,阿仔同屋企人住開支係唔同,有d人一家大細得2-3萬,要租屋咁點過。
我屋企人要我加多段,搵個唔係病房做既,人地病房轉幾多個病人又唔知,返工係坐在度做定行住做既又唔知,會俾人帶來誤解,以為在nhs做就知道入面情況,換燈膽都識開藥咩!

護士由Band 5 starting, compare to other countries. 護士人工屬偏低,而且工作壓力大,每間工作12.5小時,每個每個職級有缺勤同事,也要護士頂上其職位,令工作量大增,工作量同薪酬不正成比。所以根本不是隨便nhs文員所能體會。
我都係係NHS做,不過係做義工。我個ward既同事都係好nice,有時候聽佢哋講d名我都唔知係咩?不過我會偷偷記低然之後自己search。英文差其實唔緊要,只要肯講,肯學就得。平時可以同同事傾多d計,講得多英文自然就會進步。平時可以睇下新聞,可以開著字幕一路聽,一路理解。當你覺得你可以唔睇住字幕都聽得明個陣,代表你英文開始進步,我就係靠呢d慢慢外國人講咩我都聽得明!一齊加油!!!

本人做例子,ha多過16年,黎到英國造返本行義肢矯形技工。
我情況反而係到英國,英國人工起薪多過香港(P&O行業5-6年),香港係會從技工工種,夾硬話你係病人服務助理😂(position: artisan=> pca😢),要造clinical !
到了英國,義肢還義肢技工,矯形器還矯形技工。clinical 有hca,造事愈玩愈專。

技工可以有機會升經理位🎉
最簡單直接俾所有護士建議,可以就去澳洲。

有啲Agency nurse (打散工) 時薪係NHS staff nurse 嘅三倍,所以好多人都resign,寧願抄散做agency nurse,橫掂日日都唔夠人返工,做agency 實有工開
1~2人開支好難就咁同3~4+人數家庭比,咁樣比較都好唔公平,重有香港過得去都起碼帶左一定量資金,壓力同local完全唔同.....不如真搵返個local NHS staff分享下,等觀眾了解得全面啲.
個人意見,以個人使費,如要交租若慳用是ok的。伹以bank 5的人工,要養一家,4人計,妻子在家照顧兒女,恐怕是不夠用的,還要計劃置業的話
文職點可以代表,前線醫護講嘢,專業就係專業,一個做得耐嘅護士,好多時要幫醫生執手尾,你搵15K,試下養一家四口,又要交租,水電煤,細路返學,就算你唔食飯都唔夠用啦

點解唔問下喲前線病房員工有幾辛苦!以本人為例做果間系英國Surrey 西南部,每更12.5個鐘,減1個鐘 break ,即系做11.5鐘。每日只有呢兩更。病房每日就係打杖一樣,人手超嚴重短,物資又因為人手要果樣未必一定有系手用!根本人工同工作量無法平衡。加班家常便飯。加班系起碼做多4-5個鐘。有補錢無休息系對病人同員工都無好處。無人番工醫院會揾外面agent ,但唔一定有。好多時兩位Nurse 加兩位care worker 要負責21間病房嘅日常所有所有工作,真係痴晒線⋯⋯今個聖誕日日都要番,只係收早些少,吾加人工,流失會越嚟越多。
我都係clinical前線做

每日得20-30分鐘break
人手物資都短缺
有人連oxygen都話無
聖誕新年返足哂
仲要日日俾人呼呼喝喝

NHS 醫護,其實好陰公,尤其醫院做那些人,又要輪班,係professional, 人工低過其他國家。做GP 人工又係好低,仲衰過做藍領,讀成六年書,所以好多醫生去了別國執業,人工高好多。話有番尊嚴,因此引入那麽多海外印度醫生!
所以有条件的英国医生去了美国或者其他国家工作。

建議鬆仔搵多少少唔同NHS工種嘅人做訪問。個perspective 會全面d。因為受訪者都唔係全面清楚frontline 嘅情況
NHS人工比起其他國家都低, 根本付出與收入不成正比
雖然都係在醫療體系入面工作,前線醫護跟文職比較,無論工作上,責任上,所𠄘受的壓力是完全不同的啊!
前線醫護是在爭取拉近薪酬和負出的距離。
我支持前線爭取應得的加薪。 我之前都係private care 裡面的文職,係有限的資源,加薪應該只限前線。

咁缺人係因為做Clinical position好似醫院診所
藥房等等有好多責任同壓力,面對好多生生死死,但係人工其實比文職或者甚至做超級市場只係多少少,有啲低職位啲做超級市場仲高人工,既然係咁咁點解要咁辛苦,又要輪夜班又要咁大壓力又咁忙又缺人,依家好多Staff寧願
quit咗轉做partime, 做locum/agency staff,甚至轉行。 做得clinical 工既人點都有啲使命感, 無論係幾有使命感佢不停比人take advantage 都有爆既一日, 而家就係咁
依个哥仔真好彩!英文水平好一般都做到brand 3, 我曾经看见一个香港人连续见3份文职工喺Nhs文员,都failed, 皆因当日有很多白人及黑人(native speakers )同佢争。我本人亦interview过一个brand 2位,但讲明要英文很好,且面试时,仲要3人坐board, 好彩过关,回相起都一额汗 😂😂😂

我感到像壟斷,一間大公司,每年加薪比其他細公司少,一年一年下來已大幅低於其他多國的公司,對比自己國家的公司薪酬也超低。現在員工反抗罷工,顧主態度係你做就做吾就算,退休金不要了?對顧客錢已收(税)也不用理會!

如果受訪者真係想喺目前崗位有進一步發展,就請努力理解自己職位的要求吧。
感覺受訪者唔太明白喺醫院做藥物研發係咩一回事,先至咁易話「受protocol限制所以效率低下」。
